Reception for Dale Lennon at 2pm

I think that depends on the individual. Personally, I couldn't see myself changing my lifestyle all that much even if I were to win the lottery. I'd just maintain the same lifestyle while enjoying the financial security. That security goes right out the window as soon as you adjust the lifestyle to fit the income.

Spoken like someone who's never seen a substantial raise, or never been underpaid. I remember working an entry-level job when I was 21, and thinking I couldn't understand how anyone ever needed to earn more than 30K a year. In my thought, that gave you $1000/mo for rent/mortgage and still left you more than $1K a month for entertainment, food, etc...now I try to remember how I even bought groceries when that was my salary... but here's my thoughts: houses aren't THAT cheap in GF anymore. 3 kids are expensive no matter where you live, and 3 boys can eat a lot. IF you do much travelling (which anyone involved in recruiting does) you spend more just on eating, travelling sundries, etc than you realize...and 100K after taxes can go pretty quickly, I'm guessing, especially if you want to set anything aside for retirement, etc. I mean, how high on the hog are the Lennons living anyway? Does that salary buy a mansion in GF these days?

Anyway, the thing I don't understand is the way people are reacting like it is a personal affront that someone takes a career boost and double+ salary...or that it is seen as an "integrity" issue. Coaches get recruited, and people take jobs where the compensation outweighs the losses. I don't understand the hurt feelings. $100K a year doesn't mean UND owned him, and $200K a year doesn't mean the Salukis own him...in the end, it's a job/career, not a marriage. There are no vows being broken here.

I also wouldn't expect my boss or anyone else to call me over Christmas vacation to let me know they decided to take another job. I work in my position because again, the rewards outweigh the inconvenience of having to work, but also because I have a fabulous boss. If he left, I'd seriously consider finding a new position myself, since I like working for him more than I like my company. But I'm not his wife, I'm his employee. He doesn't owe me anything but a paycheck...and I'm quite certain if his pay were doubled elsewhere he'd be out the door before the ink dried on the new job offer, and his salary is already much higher than $200K...but why else do people work? for the joy of it alone?

just my thoughts...

It's strange to me to see some people around reacting like they are jilted lovers...
