UNDLeafsGuy Posted April 11, 2007 Posted April 11, 2007 Many years ago I heard that UND does NOT get a share of the revenue from the National Tournament because of the fact that we are Division I in hockey only. Can anyone shed some light on this subject? If in fact UND does not get revenue, isn't that alone enough reason to make the move to D-I in other sports? Quote

No way, that $$$ which only comes when we are in the F4 pales in comparison to the scholarship $$$ that is needed to compete in D1 every year. Quote

You are 100% correct in the fact that und as a D-II school does not receive a dime of the revenue from NCAA events(except maybe a percentage of the concession sales). To me that is a crock of horse bleep. As far that being a reason to go D-1 is not a very good reason. To fund a Divison 1 athletic department you are talking some major $$$. My father-in-law is a big time sioux booster and according to him und would need to generate an additional $1M - $2M revenue each year. What und would get back from the NCAA in hockey revenue does not make the sole reason to go D-1 much sense. Quote
The Whistler Posted April 11, 2007 Posted April 11, 2007 My understanding is that the DII and DIII schools (CC) get their expenses covered. I consider the NCAA policy hostile and abusive. Quote
Old Time Hockey Posted April 12, 2007 Posted April 12, 2007 The NCAA descriminates DIV II and DIV III schools. I feel UND should lead the charge for all other lower division schools and should sue them! Quote
