PCM Posted March 15, 2007 Posted March 15, 2007 Whew! I'm glad I don't golf! I didn't realize just how bad it was for society. I certainly hope SCSU student newspaper columnist Kaleb Bronson alerts Myles Brand about the problem. Golf brings out the arrogant in society On nearly every Saturday afternoon, one can flip on the TV and see a variety of golf swings on cable and network stations. Tiger Woods with his pompous attitude holding up absurdly large trophies as the crowd does the "golf clap," and next to him is a grunt, a.k.a. a caddie, who holds his bag over his bruised shoulder. But for what reason? Golf is not a sport. It is an excuse for society to look important. Poor white kids swinging $1,000 clubs to watch a small white excuse fly through the air. Why not spend money on a "sports" car for the MDD (Midget D--k Disease) problem that occurs with male pattern baldness so someone can feel important? It would be much more impressive to the people who watch as the flashing red and blues stop behind the brand new corvette rather than behind a little white bruised golf cart. Golf is nothing more than an excuse for people to get away. But why call it a sport? Their truly isn't any exercise involved, unless walking the 18-holes makes sweat pour from every lard infested inch on the human body. Maybe an excuse is what people need. Getting a divorce might be the better idea, rather than spending thousands of dollars on clubs, caddies and prestige. Or why not become an alcoholic? It's just as "sporty." Quote
Chief Illiniwek Supporter Posted March 15, 2007 Posted March 15, 2007 Golf brings out the arrogant in society Reminds me of a humorous definition I once heard: if you can play it with a beer in your hand, its not a sport. That logic is often used to deride the Chicago tradition of 16-inch softball. Quote
sprig Posted March 15, 2007 Posted March 15, 2007 What do you mean walk? First thing new golfers get here is a golf cart. Clubs, etc, come after that Quote
PCM Posted March 15, 2007 Author Posted March 15, 2007 Golfing That makes me want to take up golf just so I can wear pink pants, a salmon shirt, white shoes and a silly hat. Oh, wait... ...I already do. Quote
HockeyMom Posted March 15, 2007 Posted March 15, 2007 Now this is what I call falling down. I laughed really hard at the last one! Quote

Goon Posted March 31, 2007 Posted March 31, 2007 That makes me want to take up golf just so I can wear pink pants, a salmon shirt, white shoes and a silly hat. Oh, wait... ...I already do. PCM the styles have changed, non of us who golf would be caught dead in cloths that look like that. Quote
