Digger will be the Sioux MVP that's for sure, but I'm not going to say he's going to win this award. IIRC, the Hill tends to go towards offensive players. He might have a shot if we win it all this year... or he has 6 or seven INTs for a touchdown for the remainder of the season ???

Still, congrats to him for making the list in the first place. He truly is one of the best football players I've ever seen play at UND (I can't decide if Digger or Jimmy K is my favorite all time player. )

Announced yesterday, Digger didn't make the cut to the final 3.

Beschorner, USD QB, is representing the NCC in competition with Brittingham (RB) of Bloomsburg University and Terwilliger (QB) of East Stroudsburg. If you're sensing a pattern as to which side of the ball wins these things, you're right...

That's what I was thinking when he was named. I thought to myself "The ONLY way Digger wins is if UND wins the National Championship."

UND is out and so is Digger.

A shame.

I don't know the other two, but I think the story aspect of a candidate is almost as important as the performance aspect with these awards. I mean, Hobey Baker won by Junior Lessard, who nearly drowned a few years before... Beschorner who wasn't even a QB when he came to college (he was a punter)...

Unless the other two have some other human interest aspects, I think USD has a Harlon Hill winner.

That would be rather difficult because the winner is named before the national championship game is played.

Other than showing that he could take a beating that would have put most men in a full body cast, Jimmy T. did nothing to show that he deserved to win the Harlon. But then again, his Oline did nothing to help him out all game last week. They didn't even get flagged for holding. Jimmy had no time to do anything but do his drop back and do his impersonation of Wile E. Coyote back there. The USD guy should have gotten it over him, and I still believe that Digger got robbed as well.

Anderson finished fifth in the voting with Pittsburg State's Germaine Race finishing fourth.

I too was very surprised that Beschorner didn't win the award. I told the Sioux Falls newspaper the day before that I was 90% sure he would win it, but it obviously didn't happen. :0 I got a chance to talk quite a bit with Beschorner at the game and he's a very nice, level headed kid. He gives his teammates credit for his success and unlike many of the USD fans out there, he doesn't blame anyone but themselves for the team not making the playoffs. He said basically that they blew their shot at the playoffs when they lost to Duluth late in the season. He's going to give arena football a shot so watch for his name when that season begins.
