AZSIOUX
http://www.uscho.com/news/id,10765/200506W...sonPreview.html The bottom line: With 13 freshmen on the roster, UND may be rough around the edges early but don't expect that to last. Given history, that would be foolish.
Runninwiththedogs
Random notes... I didn't realize Justin Johnson was a key loss for the Gophers... I totally forgot Bruckler was gone, that is a HUGE loss for Wisconsin. "The bottom line: This season will go a long way in showing whether the real Bulldogs showed up in 2003-04 or in 2004-05." Are you kidding me? First of all that's insane, because nearly all of that team is gone. They might insert GOALIES into that sentence and it might have a nugget of truth, but other than that they can totally blow it out their you know whats. Also, did anyone notice the absence of Niskanen under newcomers to watch??? I think they didn't actually bother to learn about UMD but just looked at the roster and then consulted a donkey that stomps once for yes and twice for no. I don't know that JBSU is going to pull off anything other than dead last, with their "interim" coach. I'd say put Tech at 8th, UAA at 9th (higher if they didn't have a brand new coach), and St. Cloud dead last.

JJ's stats are a testament to the Gophers D (I can't believe I'm saying that, but how could he graduate with a 2.34 GAA with over a .900 Save%??) because JJ's a flipping sieve. I mean, I felt more scared of the Gophers D with Briggs in net, and that's saying something. Yes, Briggs is an ok goalie but really... they got lucky with him. Second, we'll see about UW. They have Offense and Defense. Their goaltending and a swoon are the only thing that could hold them back. I have no comment about UMD. Don't know enough about them. As for JBSU, they will vie for last place with MTU this year. However, if you think Motzko is an "interim" then you are dillusional. Motzko never would have left Minny if he thought he wasn't the next in line for the SCSU head job)
farce poobah
I think UMD will be A LOT better this year than last. They had a bunch of guys who were just showin' up and playin out the string last year. With all that dead wood gone, locker room chemistry has to be better. Still, it seems that getting into the top half of the WCHA makes a team a lock for NCAA, where anything can happen. UND at #5 seems like the safe prediction... I just have a hunch about this team in March. Toughest part will be surviving thru Christmas, and staying in the hunt for PWR #13 or better ....I would not be surprised if the Sioux get a lot of wins after Christmas.... #1siouxfan22
SCSU will be pretty bad this year but they have some decent recruits coming in now that Motzko is there like Ammerman and Nodl to name a couple. They will get better with the new coach.
