KnowtheFacts Posted September 1, 2005 Posted September 1, 2005 just got this in an e-mail, thought I would pass it along for those wishing to help out. Especially since GF was in a similar situation in 1997. Smoggy Posted September 2, 2005 Posted September 2, 2005 Someone help me with my thinking on this: If I remember correctly after the flood GF/EGF were upset with the Red Cross because they kept a lot of the money earmarked for our disaster. Am I wrong on this? I want to donate, but am not sure which way to go. Plus I'd rather see my money go to a small Mississippi community that isn't getting the media attention. Any ideas? Quote

Am I wrong on this? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I could be wrong, but as I recall, the problem wasn't that the Red Cross kept "money earmarked" for the Grand Forks flood, but that it refused to earmark money for any particular disaster. If you gave money to the Red Cross in the belief that it would go to Grand Forks, you couldn't be sure that it would actually ever be spent there. Quote
