sprig
Somehow, still can't help thinking that, in the smoke filled room, the committee had to come up with a plan that best got a school from a conference other than the WCHA into the FF. With three #1's coming from the WCHA, their plans had to be shaped for BC to get there. But, with 5 WCHA teams in the tourney, some WCHA team had to be placed in the BC region. With only Wisco and ND to choose from, they pick the 5th place team from the WCHA, thinking that there is no way ND can get by even BU, insuring a very popular BC/BU final. And, even if the Sioux get by BU, there is no way they can beat the number 1 team in the country. Remember the smoke filled room plans from the past when the Sioux were sent east to play the number 1 team in the country (RPI comes to mind), only to spoil the eastern plans as they took out their number 1. Wasn't a good plan then, still isn't now. Big mistake.

Big mistake. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Though there may be some truth to this, I think the committee was thinking of attendance when they put the East Regional together. With the exception of Mercyhurst, BU, BC, and UND all have histories playing each other. If BU would win, then there would be a popular BC/BU rematch. If UND won, BC/UND is a championship calibre showdown, a playoff rematch of the 2001 NC game. If it were for Mariucci's seating capacity being so much greater than everywhere else, I'd wonder if the East Regional didn't get the most attendance. Finally, someone takes out Mich in Mich. Now someone has to get it done at Yost, if it's selected for a future regional.
