Jordan_Parise_FREAK! Posted August 5, 2004 Posted August 5, 2004 My favorite season was '86-'87. Tony Hrkac was truly great. Quote
airmail Posted August 5, 2004 Posted August 5, 2004 '99-'00 Lots of fun! I only got to see a handful of the 86-87 games, otherwise my vote would maybe be swayed. Quote
Jordan_Parise_FREAK! Posted August 6, 2004 Author Posted August 6, 2004 Yeah. Bryan Lundbohm was probably my favorite player that year. He wasn't a Zach Parise , but he did a very good job as a Sioux player. 124 points (56 goals, 68 assists) in three years is a great accomplishment. Quote
HKNTSMN Posted August 6, 2004 Posted August 6, 2004 Didn't the Sioux win the title in 99-00 Why would this be ommitted? That was my favorite year. Quote
Jordan_Parise_FREAK! Posted August 6, 2004 Author Posted August 6, 2004 Sorry I left that out. They did win the NCAA title that year. I looking at my media guide- but the wrong page. I agree though, they played well that year. Again, I'm sorry. Quote
Bubz Posted August 6, 2004 Posted August 6, 2004 Other 82 or 83. Didn't the Sioux go Europe to play a few professional teams? If I remember right, they won a couple of games and somewhat held their own against the supposed superior Euro-hockey. Oh yeah........and an NC too. Quote
redwing77 Posted August 6, 2004 Posted August 6, 2004 '99-'00 I would have loved to see Hrkac play, but my first Sioux game was around the '95-'96 season, so I can't honestly vote for any season previous to that season. I had the most fun in 1999-2000 though. I'll always remember playing Maine in the semis and how that goaltender of theirs was all about talking about why he kept his helmet white (to be more of a "ghost" on the ice,for whatever that means). Spiewak (I think) gets a goal on the shorthand or just after the penalty expired by shooting the puck into the zone from either just inside or just outside of the blue line. I remember saying "Where's the goalie?" Good times. Quote
Jordan_Parise_FREAK! Posted August 6, 2004 Author Posted August 6, 2004 The won the NCAA title in '82. That was an interesting season. '99-'00 was very good too, though. Quote
WildSioux Posted August 6, 2004 Posted August 6, 2004 '99-'00 Season...mainly because I was going to college up there at this time and they won the championship. I went to all the Sioux WCHA Final Five games Quote
Jordan_Parise_FREAK! Posted August 6, 2004 Author Posted August 6, 2004 Man, now I feel really bad for leaving that one out. At least I'll know what most of the "Others" are Quote
oly1sioux Posted August 8, 2004 Posted August 8, 2004 I have to say 1999-2000 so i voted for other, because it`s the first time i made the trip from mpls. to grand forks on my own with my buddies(gopher fans) without my dad(me and him being huge sioux fans would come up alot) and the great time i would have braging to my buddies what a great hockey town grand forks is and eventually winning the national championship Quote
Jordan_Parise_FREAK! Posted August 9, 2004 Author Posted August 9, 2004 Wow. Everyone who has posted on here has said 99-00 I think. I didn't think it was a brilliant season, but then again I wasn't paying too much attention to it. Quote
PCM Posted August 9, 2004 Posted August 9, 2004 I'd vote for 1999-2000, too. That season was special for me because it was the only Frozen Four I've ever attended Quote
#1siouxfan22 Posted August 9, 2004 Posted August 9, 2004 this is off topic but pcm great pic from snl. how does that go again cow bell or something? Quote
defensivend Posted August 9, 2004 Posted August 9, 2004 I think that what made it a great season (2000) is that no one expected it. After 97 they had what it took to take the next year's but didn't. Chad Johnson did play for the sioux. Jim Scanlan who coaches for the Greenwave (EGF.Mn) was assistant coach for UND under Gaspirini. (not sure if he was a sioux player) Quote
Jordan_Parise_FREAK! Posted August 9, 2004 Author Posted August 9, 2004 Best avatar on the board. That is an interesting avatar. Quote
Jordan_Parise_FREAK! Posted August 9, 2004 Author Posted August 9, 2004 I guess (from what I've heard) 99-00 would have been a fun season to go see the Frozen Four. Must've been fun for you, PCM! Quote

defensivend Posted August 9, 2004 Posted August 9, 2004 Providence knows how to put on a tournament was the most fun. To bad they won't be able to host another tournament because they know how to do it right.I would have to say fun was had by all. Quote
