Prison Stripes

It has been swirling around the rumor mill. The illegal substance abuse problems seem to be continuing in a small town in east central South Dakota. The ground work had already been laid by two others, however this seems to be more explosive. The cost of success sometimes comes at the risk of the type of person you have on your squad. This now seems to be a prevailing theme. Of course with the switch to d-1 and the type of players needed for even modest success you will find even more risk taking. The types of people that will be left to recruit that have talent will be questionable on occassion. Not sure when this story will break, but it should be soon and considering the types of things that have been happening down there this one will pile on. They might want to discard and start over.

doc, Apparently you knew what you are talking about. Rabbit79 - the truth hurts dude!! Get used to it as you have to take more chances on questionable

characters in order to compete in the big time. There will be a lot more of these characters coming to brookings in the future. Enjoy.

The fanatics on the jacks board think this criminality will be an uncommon occurence. But the fact remains that the jacks will have to really step up recruiting if they are going to compete successfully on a reasonable level at d1. Since SD doesn't produce many d1 caliber players they will have to take some chances on questionable guys from juco's,etc. The 12 fanatics on the jacks board don't want to hear that but coach scott nagy has to know that is true. When you have to take chances on questionable character guys you are going to lose some of the time and get bad apples. As a UNO fan we don't have to take guys like that too often. But our brethren down in LIncoln did during the national title days and some of those guys were nightmares for tom osborne. Get used to it ndsu and sdsu.

Maybe this is what the good doc was talking about.....More SDSU legal woes

I realize that every university has athletes who have occasional legal woes, but to get 2 of the variety that they have had in the past few weeks, it really makes you scrach your head. I don't like to, but cannot help but think there may be a disciplinary problem that started at the top this year and has trickled on down.

GOOD LUCK with that whole DI thing SDSU!!! It only gets WORSE from here...You've made your bed - now go lay in it and snuggle extra close to your move-mates....you're going to need the warmth (AND HELP!)....GOD!!!! GENE TAYLOR USES AQUA VELVA!!!!

PS - If you have to move back down to the lowly, crappy world of division II...I'm sure the northern sun would take you in...they're missing a team or two that's decided to upgrade themselves WITHIN REASON!!!

It's odd how silent they have become again and how an athlete who represented their school has suddenly no connection (according to their board. his eligibility had run out so he was no longer part of the college.) This is the future and they are getting a little taste of it early. Remember when this was an academic move? (they needed to be with like institutions) Now they are hoping for any conference, whether it is one where they are like institutions or not. I am sure that they could have joined the Big Ten, in fact I am sure they would have been admitted, lest for the fact that a Big Ten institution already has the same name. PEN STATE!
