jeffj Posted April 20, 2004 Share Posted April 20, 2004 Belarus was formerly part of the Soviet Union, and most of the standing room only crowd was very much for the Russians. Team USA did tie up the game, but I don't think the referee could bring himself to allow the goal given the circumstances. Hopefully, this success will carry into the WJC's in a couple of years like the U18 Championship in 2002 carried over into this year.
