I know this is a few weeks late, but I just wanted to congratulate the Sioux on a great playoff run. As a fan of the WSU squad that nearly knocked you off it was nice to see your team beat UNA.

On a side note, while the NSIC is certainyl a weaker team top to bottom, Winona State has become a D2 team to deal with.

One word of advice to UND fans: hope your school learns what WSU learned: play all D2 opponents. It will only help you down the line. You don't have to prove anything to the Bison. It is going to be a tough road for them in D1 AA.

Thanks for the note. I agree, Winona has become a "player" in DII FB. With that, recruiting should be easier so your success should continue.

What is your take regarding WSU eventually joining the NCC? Any chance of that happening in your opinion? Do you know how many FB scholarships you will be able to fund next year?

I am not sure how many full scholarships will be funded next year. It would seem like it will be pretty consistent with past years.

Somewhere down the line the possibility would be there for a conference switch, however, I don't see it in the near future (although I wish it would). Despite all the success it seems that reaching the level of fully funded scholarships currently needed to compete in the NCC would be tough.

I was very suprised with UMD's decision to make the leap. Perhaps they have the money to do so, but they have not exactly dominated in the NSIC.

I was very suprised with UMD's decision to make the leap. Perhaps they have the money to do so, but they have not exactly dominated in the NSIC.

According to this link, UMD had an athletic budget more than twice that of any other conference school (5.1 Million)

And as so far as dominating the NSIC, UMD has won the past 10 NSIC All-Sports Competitions ('94, 95', '96, '97, '98, '99, '00, '01, '02, '03). They may not have dominated in the 'major' sports (football, and men's basketball): 3 titles in football, 3 in men's b-ball, but they have been solid in other sports: Women's Volleyball, Women's Basketball, as well as fantastic men's and women's track teams.
