GeauxSioux Posted March 31, 2009 Posted March 31, 2009 Pat Warcup passed away in Las Vegas last week. Pat was the first Women's BB coach at UND and helped start UND's Women's athletic program. Patricia A. (Pat) WarcupIn 1965 the University of North Dakota lured her back home appointing her Women's Physical Education Director. During the first year of her tenure, she and her colleagues started the women's athletic program at UND. Pat was the first women's basketball coach (1965-70) and the first softball coach (1966-70). Between 1965 and 1970, the Women's Physical Education Division had raised the number of women's competitive sports to 10 and along with area colleges formed the MinnKota Conference to govern competition. This governing body stood until absorbed by various men's conferences. Quote
