FCS Coaches Poll is out.

Cal Poly is #14.

Obviously, UND is not in the Top 25, but we did get some respect. North Dakota got got 5 votes. :silly:

While no other Great West team cracked the Top 25, both UC Davis and North Dakota picked up votes from the coaches.

Other receiving votes (points in parentheses): Fordham (40), Northern Arizona (40), Delaware State (36), Liberty (33), Yale (32), Jacksonville State (30), South Carolina State (27), Sam Houston State (24), Montana State (23), Hampton (22), Hofstra (18), Furman (13), Holy Cross (9), San Diego (8), Grambling State (7), UT Martin (6), Towson (5), Coastal Carolina (5), North Dakota (5), Maine (4), Weber State (4), Jackson State (4), UC Davis (3), Dayton (2), Florida A&M (1), Prairie View A&M (1), Missouri State (1).

I know this isn't exactly going way out on a limb, but I think we'll be ranked higher at the end of the season than we are in the preseason poll.

I would agree. You might have a good chance at being 9-1, or running the table with a huge effort against S. Ill. and Davis. It doesn't look like Idaho St. and SE LA are projected too high in their conferences, but you never know when you go on the road. A 9-1/8-2 record will get a top 25 ranking. It would be fun to see you play Poly this year, that would be a good game, but the Davis game should also be a good battle.

Yes, realistically you might be ranked, and a loss to S Ill on the road wouldn't hurt too much if you play them tough.

Last year 5 loses, got some Teams in the Top 25..... :silly:

As a newbie and with your stregth of schedule, you will not be given any auto-love in the polls based on wins and losses. Every poll vote will be earned by how you perform against S ILL and Davis. Too bad you don't have a game against Poly, that would have helped the cause with a win.

Since you brought it up, here's how this season's FCS opponents were picked within their respective conferences.........

-Idaho St. was picked 8th in the Big Sky

-Southeastern Louisiana was picked 7th in the Southland

-UC Davis picked 2nd in GWC

-USD picked 4th in GWC

-SUU picked 5th in GWC

-Southern Illinois picked 5th in the Missouri Valley
