  1. Um....You guys............my page glitched out and it I guess I ended up voting for the first option on the list....Sundogs......NO GOD. NO GOD PLEASE NO. NO. NO. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Kidding, I'd jump off the Ralph before I'd vote for the Dawgs. I actually ended up being converted back to Nodaks (Or NoDaks?), however I am totally fine with Roughriders too. So will the winner be put in to effect immediately? Like will Nodaks or Roughriders be used at sporting events this season?

  2. The supporters must be from Minnesota and laughing their  behinds off it becoms Nodaks.    Nodaks is basically the same as saying "stupid, hick North Dakotans".  Even non-UND fans cannot believe that it is an option.  It's like giving those folks a gift.   Of course I suppose if we do become the Nodaks, then maybe the negative connotation of the name will change.  yeah, probably not.  Heck I would rather vote for Sundogs and I thought that was awful from the first time it was mentioned years ago.

I think you're overly concerned with what Minnesotans think. By the way there are stupid, hick Minnesotans too and some, I assume, are good people. It should be noted also that regardless of the name on our jersey's we'll still be chalking up W after W. We're going to have such a strong athletic program that nobody will mess with us.  We are going to have so much winning you may get bored with winning. Let's make UND great again.

  3. Starting out reading this thread having no clue what I was leaning towards.

I was anti-NoDaks, then you people got to me and I was NoDak-neutral, now I'm anti-NoDak again.  I didn't mind the "Fighting NoDaks" if for no other reason than to break up that North Dakota NoDaks nonsense. However, it's still not doing it for me. So I'll have to pass on NoDaks.

North Stars is mind boggling to me......will our friends to the east ever let us live it down if we became the North Stars? No seriously....it'll be like we are oblivious to everything around us...So I'll have to pass on North Stars.

Fighting Hawks is so meh it hurts. I remember reading an article from some guy on some website (Totally blanking what it was) that described how NOT to pick a new nickname, and it was precisely the "(Adjective) (Bird)" name with a bird head for a logo. I fear that's the path we're headed down....but not if I can help it. So I'll have to pass on Fighting Hawks.

Sundogs...............................................So I'll have to pass on Sundogs.

Roughriders is fine with me. No real feelings against it. I'm curious what kind of logo would accompany the name! I also couldn't care less that Theodore Roosevelt was only in North Dakota for like a blink of an eye, at least he was in the state for a time! I don't ever recall seeing Trojan warriors in Los Angeles, USC?! WANNA EXPLAIN THAT ONE????? Anyway, go Riders, Riders on the Storm, all that jazz. So I'll have to vote for Roughriders.

  4. We must remember that this generation of students knows only losing and losing badly. They have no concept of a UND football program as a national contender playing and beating good teams at home. It will come with time.

    Bingo

Don't abandon ship just yet...Anything can happen! RB's have a monster day over the cow D. Studsrud airs it out for a 99 yd TD to win the game. And Bubba.....oh boy, Bubba performs a surprise halftime rendition of Beyonce's "Single Ladies".  What a day for some football, folks. Who wants a bison burger??

  6. Blah blah blah, stats stats stats, I'm all about that "W".  As long as we win, we're 2-0....pretty pretty pretttttttyyyyy good.  Then we go to Fargo and have some fun with those cow people or whatever!!! LETS. GO. SIOUX/FIGHTINGHAWKS/SUNDOGS/NODAKS/ROUGHRIDERS/NORTHSTARS

  7. Drake did play a close game (44-30) with someone named William Jewell.

Didn't realize Billy J had that kind of talent.  I'm impressed.

Can't wait to watch the Fighting Hawks/Sundogs/Nodaks/Roughriders/North Stars roll over Drake!

  8. I fear we're headed down the road that most schools who were in a similar situation go down....some sort of animal.

    Fighting Hawks?

    ....

    ....

    ....

What.....? Is this real life?? How bland. How boring. How....how....awful.

    Nodaks is bad.

North Stars shouldn't even be considered, apparently no one on the committee learned Minnesota is the North Star state

Sun Dogs is tacky as hell

Roughriders.....oh roughriders....can we please for the love of god let Red River HS have this one? I've heard of High Schools taking the name of colleges or pro teams, but not vice versa....

I didn't think that we were moving to fast in this process until now...I think we've made a terrible mistake....a terrible terrible mistake.  If I may quote from Dennis Reynolds of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, "No, no, please! What’ve I done? Oh, God, what’ve I done?"

  9. Fighting Sioux was a badass nickname accompanied by a badass logo.  Both of which are now gone, unfortunately.  New nickname (Or no nickname?) is on the horizon and I'm willing to embrace it, and can't wait for everyone to gradually hop on the bandwagon.

However there is a consolation prize for all of you still clutching to the Sioux nickname: the callsign for UND's aircraft is still (and will continue to be, due to the cost of changing it with the FAA, if I'm correct) SIOUX.  ie - "Grand Forks Tower, Sioux 84 holding short of runway 17 Right, ready for departure."  Take a listen if you wish!

  10. Well that was interesting. The way she goes, I guess. Way of the road.  Certainly had a lot of fun watching this team this season, and can't wait to do it all over again next season.  "With all due respect to Omaha and North Dakota, the sooner they leave town, the better" I guess you got your wish, Mr. Eric Wilbur of the Boston Globe, you certainly are a gracious host, thank you for having us....you troll.

  11. From what I hear around campus, a lot of students are pulling for 1) "Fighting Sioux/Sioux" (Even though they realize it's a futile effort) 2) "Tribe," which I like and in fact submitted.  To say Tribe is strictly related to "Sioux" or any other Native American nickname/logo is a stretch.  Tribe can mean any group of people, including the entirety of the University of North Dakota. Simple Google dictionary definition defines tribe as "communities linked by social, economic, religious, or blood ties, with a common culture and dialect" I would understand if they didn't want to have any feathers or anything of the like on the logo because it would obviously be relating to the Fighting Sioux....but whatever....that's the NCAA I suppose.  I also submitted (As my joke/throw away submission) Fighting Irish; my rationale being: "If Notre Dame can get away with it for 88 years, why can't we?", hope they at least get a laugh out of it.

  12. how about Sasquatch I don't think anyone has that and then don't put anything on the jersey because they're to mystical to be seen. Then you could get a 10 year deal with the crew of finding bigfoot to come to the Ralph to do their Sasquatch calls. Then between periods you could have everyone looking throughout the whole arena to find a Sasquatch (which of course can never be found). Its a great idea
