  1. The coaching staff will discipline internally if necessary. If we see him on the ice Friday, we have nothing to talk about.

I hope this is an unfounded rumor with no truth to it.

  2. While the pre-season poll is not a perfect predictor for the end of the season it can be used as a gauge. Case in point, as UND is #6 they are viewed as a team that could go very deep in the NCAA Tourney. You wouldn't expect that from an unranked team, although they may provide the occasional upset. :silly: It is interesting to note that last year all four semi-final teams came from the top 11 in the pre-season poll.

  3. Chuck, there is no question that last year Wisco had an uptick in offensive production. IMO that will prove to be an abberation, as they have lost their top 5 scorers from last year. This year Eaves is playing with all his recruits so we will see if increased scoring is a trend or mirage.

  4. 1. Minnesota - they lose a lot but look at what they have coming in

    2. Wisconsin - will not score a lot, but should not get scored on much

    3. UND - will take a while to figure out who is the #1 goalie, Towes/Oshie should put up some big numbers

    4. St. Cloud - good goalie, decent recruits, good coaching

    5. UMD - did not lose much from last season

6/7. Denver/CC - both lost way more than they are bringing in

8/9. MTU/MSU - MSU usually does better than they look on paper, MTU does not

    10. AA - I almost feel sorry for them, almost.

I think these picks look about right as far as which teams have the best odds to be in the NCAA tournament. The top three will be very good. This could be a year that JBSU and the U of M (duluth) make it in the NCAA tourney. I like Wisco with their senior backstop to win the regular season as long as he stays healthy.

  5. No need to worry about that. Hirsch will be back.....

Um, I'm not a therapist, I've never played one on TV and I didn't stay in a holiday inn last night but someone having individual mental health issues is a far cry from being poisonous to a locker room imho. Tyler was a distraction, for sure, at that time. To say he was poisonous is ridiculous, insensitive and just plain wrong.

  6. I'm glad to read that Toews is returning. With all the offensive talent that has left the WCHA, and with all the talent on D and in the nets returning, I'm guessing that scoring will be down. That said, I believe (for what it's worth) that it is better to have two very good lines as opposed to one great one. I'm not saying that the other lines can't score, but they are just somewhat unproven compared to Oshie and Toews. So I would break them up 5on5 but re-unite them on the first powerplay.

  7. Don't make them look bad/dumb Sprig or they will they will place you on ignore too. Or maybe that is your plan all along

Oh yeah, all this amazing knowledge and insight about the Gopher program and it's inner workings from somebody that a couple months ago couldn't distinguish Phil Kessel from Erik Johnson. ???

  8. Yeah, I got a feeling phil "the not so much of a thrill" may have a bit of a chip on his shoulder. No reason to wake a sleeping giant, he may just make it miserable for some WCHA teams over the next year.

I fell out of my chair when I read this post.

  9. This hurts Bucky a lot. He was the most important and productive player the Badgers had not named Elliott. He was their best set-up man and would plunk a few in himself. If Skille follows suit the Badgers will play soccer on ice next year.

  10. This issue really is a moot point as the UND staff have signed other players with more potential and you can't sign everyone. When SCSU starts signing first round draft picks and blue chip D-men then maybe we can resume this discussion.

As Wisconsin showed us last year, that's not what it takes to win. St.Cloud is turning it around and signing Marvin is another example of the trend. With Goepfert in nets and Motzko behind the bench they will be tough again this year.
