  1. That's Jiff to you, Sue.
  2. Why not just relocate the Frozen Four back to St Paul or even to the Av's arena? Naw, screw the colorado people, St Paul's arena is nicer anyhow. Of the possible match-ups, only UND & Denver have played for a title before - Denver won. Denver could start making repeats a trend. If Minn & Denver win, the schools who won the last 3 titles will battle for the 4th. The 4 schools have won a combined 20 titles in 57 years, and will chalk up 21 in this - the 58th year. That's over 36% of the titles - as if WCHA dominance wasn't bad enough. Minnesota has won a hockey title for 4 straight years, 2 by the men followed by 2 by the women (including this year). The other facts should be obvious, even for you Sue's.
  3. You missed one: 1976 Tech vs Minn (round 3) - Minn won
  4. Hate to say it, but who's hot no longer matters. There will be almost 2 weeks off, and all 4 teams know each other. Whoever comes to play will win, and if that's not enough - talent will finally be a factor. Should be a heck of a tourney though, definately the 4 best teams for a change.
  5. Quick whistle friday canceled a would-be big first goal. Game probably should have been a 3-3 regulation tie, though I think if there was an OT winner - UND had the advantage. Saturday the would-be late goal was waived appropriately, there was definately no control by a Gopher player after the Parise deflection. All in all, I think the wins went to the teams who deserved them more each night. No doubt in my mind that this series was the best hockey played this year. WCHA playoffs will be interesting, but I'm more interested in seeing how the NCAA's stack up...lotta WCHA teams should be there. I just hope that Minnesota & UND stack up opposite so that they can play in the Frozen Four, preferably in the title game. There wouldn't be anything much sweeter then watching the Gophers hoist their 3rd straight trophy in front of some sobbing sioux... -sioux suck
  6. I'm not saying I like it, condone it, or accept it. I do understand it though. It's just another example of how business is ruining pleasure. It's about money. You will still see the same teams win titles, but you will see more competitive games...which draw more fan interest...yada yada. Have a no-name make a run once in a while doesn't hurt either. Everything in this backwards world seems to work this way...and the virus has spread to college hockey. Oh, and who is Greg?
  7. What you have to consider too is that the Ref's are almost forced to call against certain schools, just to keep college hockey afloat. I mean if you think about it, well over half the schools in college hockey you would have never even heard of if it wasn't for their division I status. Think about their recruiting. If you wanted to play college hockey, your first choices (outside hometown school) would likely be major universities like Minnesota, Michigan, Wisconsin, etc. Next on the list would be notable universities with major hockey programs (ie - Div I) such as North Dakota, Boston U, Maine, New Hampshire, etc. After a while you would get to the other universities with major hockey programs - but who maybe aren't household names (regardless of their success) like St Cloud St, Ferris St, Quinnipiac, Lake Superior, etc. That doesn't leave much for recruiting if you're one of the latter schools. Hockey is a northern sport, and foreigners have little reason to play college hockey here rather then junior hockey back home. With slim pickings, it's no wonder you constantly see the NCAA's filled with BC, BU, CC, Maine, Mich, Minn, MSU, No Dakota, and a few lucky no-names. My point is that if that Ref's call it fair, then every game between Minn & Mankato, Mich & MTU, BC & Merrimack would end up with a score like 8-1. I for one hate the Ref's, but I would hate more to see college hockey with 2 conferences - cuz the little schools cant compete. Schools like Mich Tech have a lot of history in college hockey, and I would hate to see them drop out of Div I. If that means a little clutch & grab, so be it. We will still leave Houghton with 4 points.
