Thought hp2 was a game changer?

The "Field of Dreams" approach is tiring.  It's not like UND has total crap facilities currently.  Lots of influences on choosing a school but #1 is the coaching staff and belief in winning.  #2 is scholarship with NIL creeping in.  After that everything else is a distant 3rd including HP2.

Personally, I don't blame Danny one bit for this move. He left for a good program and more money. If the team has success (which they will) then he will get more opportunities. Maybe him and his wife decided they were ready to try moving around and seeing what happens. The alternative was to wait in GF for Bubba to be removed or retire and hope that he would be the next guy, with no guarantees.

I do place more blame on Chaves for letting the program get to this spot with coaching. I've acknowledged many times over that Bubba seems like a great guy and has done some nice things for this program, but if you have watch this team over the past few season, it just seems like he has consistently hit his ceiling.(If I have to continue to watch Bubba ball, then I hope I have to eat crow on that).

Also disappointed in Bubba if he is really pissed off about the move and couldn't wish Danny well on taking an opportunity that may be best for his family. Seems tacky given the circumstances. I know Danny bleeds green, and maybe he will still come back to UND and coach again, but maybe he also saw how stagnant this program has been from a coaching, funding and leadership standpoint and decided a change was best. Who knows.

Chaves is a step behind with football.  He doesn't fully understand the landscape.  It would be hard to mess up the hockey program because it's premier, so even Chaves can't mess that up too bad playing checkers.  College football today is chess however, and if you are not 2-3 steps ahead you are behind.

I don't get it. If Freund doesn't have the talent to be OC, why the outrage? His move to SDSU and Schuster's to Michigan State ruin your science experiment?

Not outraged, I called it a smart move for him prior to your post.  I also called that Danny wouldn't step in as OC at Jacks, performance didn't support it.  (Co-OC/QB coach not calling plays)  I will let the dust settle and personally wish him well.  And yes, I still want to see what another QB can do for us.

The end is near it people do not realize how horrific this makes UND football look. Go from OC to QB coach at a rival in-conference school? Not to mention the guy who is doing it “bleeds green”? Chaves and Armacost need to be held accountable here.

Obviously Danny was not happy about something!!  Danny must not have been the likely next HC, which probably means he would have been let go with the next HC coming in. Taking a step back is probably better than being unemployed, and it's on his terms now.  Actually a pretty smart move.

Danny and Tommy….what was their W-L record?  I forget.

What is 19-16 the past 3 years for 200?  Take 2 Drake games out and 17-16.  OC makes no sense for the Jacks, QB coach makes sense.  I wanted this next season to see if Danny or Tommy was the issue of not letting things rip.  Now, we'll never know as Lunch Bucket Tommy Gun leads Sparty to a Big 10 Title and Danny wins a Natty as the premier FCS OC according to some.  Give me a break!!

Let's circle back to this. I also was very skeptical of the numbers that were being tossed around. Originally, multiple players were reported to have 6 figure NIL deals. McFeeley reported 250K that one had, Izzo said 1/2 million this week on his show. Those numbers were clearly not accurate. Are we thinking they were reported 2X, 3X, 10X the actual number? I also don't believe as many players that were reported had them. Kudos to the Coaching staff / players. I'm sure the collective is still pretty modest, but boy did they get the ball moving by completely exaggerating what was happening.

    Bison player(s) turning down $500 Racks.......LMAO.

Those guys have lots of  money. Money is a big part of recruiting. It’s the only reason I could think of that might entice someone to go there.
Lighten up Francis. It has more to do with recruiting than some of the nonsense posted on this thread.

Couple free duck calls......I would have found that enticing.  Still do!!

Louisiana-Monroe is a crap-hole program. I hope they enjoy losing because they are going to be doing a lot of it.

2-10 with a victory over FCS Lamar.......c'mon now.

Really?  I think he’s a decent coach, and there is no doubt that position group can run block well.  But to me part of the problems of being able to find receivers further down the field and our line doesn’t typically sustain a lot of time in the pass block game.  I can’t tell you how many how many times I got to 2 Mississippi— and it was already scramble & extend time.  Is it any wonder that we ran quick passing/ WR screen, more often than not. (Which everyone here is sick of).  To me, no one is irreplaceable.

Huge discrepancy between our run blocking and pass blocking ability.

Are we putting too much into pushing NDSU around in the run game while ignoring 15 yards and 68 yards on the ground vrs UNI and Jacks respectively?  Valid points on pass block game, too.  Whether counting Mississippis or Bananas the pocket collapsed at 2, agreed.

News like this makes me think Polacek is either brining in his own OC or calling the plays himself, and that Roehl is gone.  Either Woods was told this or he saw the writing on the wall.  Forn stability purposes, it would be smart for Polacek to keep many of the coaches, especially Roehl since it sounds like most of the players were pushing for him to be the next HC.  But who knows.  Polocek may want to run his own offense and have him or his own guy make then play calls.  May find out some of those answers at his introductory press conference.

If I were Polacek I would do 1 of 2 things.

    1. Get rid of Roehl ASAP.

    2. Have Roehl make a public statement about his support for Polacek.  Then behind closed doors inform him if you ever undermine me I will fire your @ss.

Number 1 is the much safer option for a HC.  Number 2 is always lingering in a bad way as "the players" choice.

I agree with you. The offense figures to only get better. The problem with this team is the defense, which I never thought would happen with our program.

If we're going to hype up the Jets as unstoppable again heading into 2024 they better actually run by someone.

Pretty quiet out there. What are we thinking the strategy is? Trying to get targets on campus this weekend and offering at that time? Start offers early next week and try to get them on campus next weekend? 20th is coming soon and there are some major needs that need to be filled via the portal.

It's always in the mid 50's in GF in December!!

It took Stig a long time to turn SDSU around, so I guess you never know.  But I don't see a lot of similarities between Stig and Bubba, and the same could probably be said about the differences between some of their assistants and ours.

If Bubba gets wasted and drives his car off the road and nothing happens then you know the University and players are behind him 100%.  That's the real test.

As an alumni I’m not supposed to be able to talk to recruits yet I could spend 1 million $ on NIL money on them

    NC$$ is fd up

Start loading up your High School Athletes with steroids and whatever else now to land that NIL deal!!  Honest but sad point to make is high schools are not regulated and now look at the carrot in front of them.

  16. 57 minutes ago, Kab said:

so Nebraska coach says it takes 1 million $ to get in a good QB, thought schools couldn’t have anything to do with NIL

$1 million plus the other perks.  Love this one!!

Let the Trey Feeney era begin!!

Looking forward to what he can bring.  He definitely has a better deep ball.  As accurate on the short stuff as Tommy?  We shall see.  Doesn't take much to be a better runner than Tommy.  Feel like Tommy ran under desperation.  I think there will be more designed runs for Trey.  This offense is going to look a little different next year, for the better I think.

I just watched the Hudl of Kaminski, Feeney, and Tommy.

At those equal points in time Kaminski had the strongest arm with a 50 yarder while kind of fading away and slightly across the body, Trey had the quickest release and throws the best across his body, but Tommy was slinging the ball everywhere including a 45 yarder in the air.    Kaminski ran the best but Feeney does look longer than just an inch taller on the program at 6'3" (Trey)compared to 6'2"(Jerry).  Again, it was surprising just how good Tommy looked coming out of High School.  But watching the 4-5 years at UND he didn't put on the size and arm strength one would project from his Hudl.  Goes to show in college what matters is development and your ceiling.  I think it's a pretty even Feeney/Kaminski battle heading into 2024.  I think Trey is 205 lbs and Jerry 200 lbs.........go to work Nate!!  Tommy listed at 6' and 195 lbs and if you saw him he might not even be that big.

jerry was ready day 1............what a waste of a year going with tommy if the coaches and tommy even thought he was entering the portal.....would've been nice to have jerry or trey with some experience for the ia state game........

I don't know who was/is ready or who isn't ready but regardless of Tommy leaving or if he was coming back why don't we attempt to develop our QB position with game reps?  This season there were times another option could/should have gotten the reigns.  So now we are in a position of a starting QB with 15 snaps, 10 snaps, and 0 snaps.(estimating)
