Its really sad isnt it. Is he going to Montana or SDSU?
I haven't tapped any of my sources but I would bet on SDSU or $50,000 NLI from an FBS school.
edit: I didn't think Pawlek was O-line coach at Griz, thought it was TE and Tackles, something hybrid with another coach that was Center/Guards. It appears now he is full O-line coach so Griz makes more sense to me now.

If UND Football was a movie it would be Ground Hog's Day, some ups and downs and nuances throughout but we are stuck, over and over again we enter another off season with underwhelming talent, development, and coaching. On top of that when UND does develop a player that is recognized nationally the new normal is another school gives him $150,000 to transfer, edging out his next offer of $50,000 and pick of any truck on the lot. College football is lawless and declining. Big name Coaches are leaving. Soon FCS will be a pure development league for FBS. I understand the frustration with UND and with college football in general, hanging by a thread myself.

Ridiculous proposition, although Chaves went with it, because as Tom Miller wrote in his article, Bubba won’t be here forever to save that ridiculous budgeting plan, if indeed true. The cold hard truth is UND football is not appropriately emphasized at UND. Money talks. If you also read Miller’s article, he makes perhaps the best point of all; it’s not what the head coach’s salary is that is correlated with success, but rather what the assistant coaches make that is in fact correlated with success. UND’s assistant coaches - namely coordinators - are not compensated like a championship program within the MVFC. SDSU and NDSU on the other hand…
It's true, have heard this, and the numbers show it. As hard as some have been on Bubba, would all of you do the same?? Our coordinators are better paid than Bubba.
The average of the top 3 HC's made $368,046. Bubba made 69.3% of this amount.
The average of the top 3 OC's made $120,381. Danny made 86.4% of this amount. (If Bubba was at 86.4% like Danny, that would be another $63,000)
The average of the top 3 DC's made $117,402. Joel made 75.3% of this amount. (not unreasonable for a 1st year DC)
Is it a good long-term strategy to expect the HC to take less money AND pass all increases onto assistants?? Nope!!
This is MVFC.

That's why my hopes are tempered here...he's a classic "tweener"...not big enough to play DE at the D1 level...not sure if he's quick enough to be an every-down MVFC OLB. If he was coming in as an 18 year old kid I'd be thrilled...but he's got one year. That's not a developmental signing...it's an impact signing. I really hope I'm wrong because by all accounts he's a great kid and a college grad...but we need help on D, and I'm not sure we're going to get much here.
Good observation that I agree with but I think this is a shot we take, agree with the attempt.

You got the job?
Close!! I am skinnier and my strength coach resume is not good and my beard has some red, but not the shaved head. 3 out of 4 isn't bad!!

Speaking of our AD clown show, I saw yesterday its' been over 40 days since they fired the strength coach. Who is the new guy?
I have $20.00 that says he has a shaved head, is a little skinnier than Baukol, mostly red beard, and his resume is not impressive.

Heading into last season there was a false narrative that our Jets (uncoverable) along with 5th year gun Slinger Tommy Gun along with the O-line whisperer Pawlak were going to be impossible to stop. (except for big games on the road of course, Boise, UNI, USD, SDSU) The O-line couldn't pass protect that well and maybe it was lack of talent but I tend to believe it was more on the OC's system, Danny 'new Jack hustler' Freund where if it wasn't a dink-n-dunk you needed a 5 second pocket. Center snaps sucked all season too, didn't help. So all the hype wasn't lived up to.
The 2024 narrative is currently the Titanic hit by a Nuke. If, and it's an (IMPORTANT IF) all the current players stick around and pull together it probably isn't as bad as it seems. With an administration lacking it's up to the new OC and players sticking together to give this thing we call 2024-25 UND football a chance.

College FB F'n sucks now. 1 year left to follow for family reasons then I am not wasting my time with this crap. Player and coach carousels is all it is. The FBS 12 team tournament will be interesting but besides that, CFB can burn itself down to the ground then only have themselves to blame.

Joe is going to Montana, unsure what role
Taking Rob Phenicie's position(most likely), who left for Bucknell to be OC. Griz position historically has been TE and Tackles.

You just took a jump moving from the Pioneer League to the MVFC with UND and had a solid opportunity to make a mark in your hometown and your alma mater. That wasn't good enough, so you jump to your rival school within a week. I get wanting more money and a solid opportunity, but this move absolutely exposed a major character flaw. My exact words when I read about this was "F*$% this guy". I'd take Danny back in a second, but Jake can F*%& off for good. Don't ever step a foot back on campus. Pretty damn pathetic. And I really REALLY hope he flops for multiple reasons.
I don't know much about the new guy, but best of luck to him. He accepted a job in a bad situation. Maybe he shows some serious potential, but I have no idea what could be next for him. God willing, Bubba is gone after next season, and we find a solid replacement. If so, best of luck to Fruechte, whether he be retained or not. Can't have any less integrity than Landry. My hope is that he is our "Pat Shurmur of the Vikings" ... Understand what your best tools are and play to their strengths ... Don't ask your offense to be something they aren't.
UND should be embarrassed they let this happen.
NDSU should be embarrassed they are poaching unproven coaches from a rival school.
Landry should be embarrassed for being a POS, but in my experience POS people are never embarrassed.
To take this job right now means the guy has a ton of confidence and that's a good thing. Not to pile on Jake........on 2nd thought why not. I was concerned with Jake because my sources also said he was a real dumb dumb in school, barely eligible type dumb dumb. I wonder about his confidence level in his home town, his alma mater, the fear of everything imploding on him and lots people saying, ya, we knew he was a dumb dumb.(6 dumbs in a post, might be a record)

Chaves. I recall him pretty much burying the EWU Athletic Department and UND overlooked that little detail. Lots told me he is really impressive in person.....never saw nor felt that from him. And now this pissante is setting UND Football back atleast 3-4 years, likely longer.

If TSU can win and become relevant, same challenge as everyone else......5-6, 4-7, 6-5 the last 3 seasons.

To be OC for NDSU you mean? While we have liked Joe and has been good for the OL, I could be wrong but I'm not sure top level FCS teams would immediately have him as top on their list for an OC position. No offense to Joe and I sure hope he sticks around for a while, but I think they would be able to get someone more qualified. We didn't even hire him is our OC.
Correct, NDSU isn't going to look at UND's O-line coach who has no experience as an OC. If Danny was still in GF I doubt NDSU would look at him either. These options don't make any sense.

NAIA and a perennial GLVC D-2 cellar dweller? Let's get serious, good lord.
Ya, we are loaded with 215 lb tweeners that are not big/strong enough to play LB and not athletic enough to play safety. We could write a book on it.

Pretty sure he was only the QB coach at Temple for the 2021 season. Their offense wasn't good, to say the least. They scored 10 points or less in 6 games that season.
I took the info from St. Thomas Bio but from the Temple Bio it looks like 2019 and 2020 were not as QB Coach, only 2021 was he official QB Coach. Thanks!!

I’m saying take the name out and his résumé doesn’t get me that excited.
4 year OC and 3 year QB Coach at Temple......I kind of see it. I suppose it's all comparative. Given the timing it's not too bad. (correction - only 1 year QB Coach at Temple and 2 years as an analyst)

Mostly the NCAA. We can't babysit every single player 8 days a week to make sure they feel appreciated enough and compensated enough to stay at UND.
