  1. And if you're not a hypocrite, you will also stop attending or viewing UND sporting events.

I have done that as well. But like you, I'm too stupid to stay off this board because I still have a glimmer of hope the name will remain and SR will do the right thing. Unfortunately, I believe you will remain on this board as well.

  2. Your totally right. That's what I get for not looking closely at the schedule. :p

Might not hurt to contact FSN by e-mail trying to encourage them to pick up the games. That way they'll know there is interest even if the Gophers aren't in the tournament.

Hope that works better than calling or e-mailing your congressman on health care.......

  3. Well I guess I really have no reason to hold back now. Division I hockey is a joke. Hockey overall is an afterthought that nobody gives a crap about west of Devils Lake, east of Warroad and South of Fargo. It's largely the sport for rich kids who aren't athletic enough to play other sports. You disagree, then why is does the greatest hockey player of all time (Wayne Gretzky) have the physique of a school girl?

Sioux hockey may win 10 championships but it ultimately doesn't amount to much as only 50 or so teams play Division I hockey and most of the schools that people associate with success in collegiate athletics don't even field teams (Florida, USC, Texas). If UND were in the NCAA tournament they most likely would have squared off with a school that is a recognizable name in every household in the country. Today the hockey team played Minnesota- Duluth. Point. Set. Match.

Don't forget about the 19,000+ people at the MN state high school hockey championship game whom had nothing better to do. Timberpups must have been out of town....

  4. The rush is pretty simple. Walk into any living room of any high school player in the country and tell him that he will have no chance to play in the NCAA tournament and watch his reaction.

Than walk in and tell him he will have a chance to get his ass kicked in the first round if he wins his conference championship and watch his reaction.

    fixed your post

  5. This will be the closest we've come to playing a legitimately ranked team. Our last 3 trips to Denver ended in splits. Last time we swept DU in Denver was in 2003 and we destroyed them. Unfortunately they knocked us out of the NCAAs that year.

Good test to see where we are as a team. I suspect each team will be playing at a higher level then when both teams lost to unranked teams.

  6. The State Board IS spineless or it wouldn't have set a deadline in the first place. I think they have no problem letting the minority dictate policy. Most hardcore liberals don't mind it.

Why? Because they want to make everyone happy.... you know the song: Dream the Impossible Dream? Yeah, well, they live that.

Those who aren't as far left as these buffoons (and not all Democrats are liberals) realize that there is no such world where everyone is being happy. So, you cater to the majority. In this case, votes are taken and the minority can learn to live with the results any way they can.

The collusion between the SBoHE and UND flows right along with your comments. The irony is that the liberal administration at UND wants to change the name, and ultimately the tribes will be fighting to retain it.

  7. Easy now. Fargo / Moorhead is as close as Grand Forks / East Grand Forks. Alot of top end talent from Moorhead has played for the Sioux and are still playing in the NHL. That being the way it is, I don't blame the best players wanting to play for Moorhead. They have had better coaches, better training system, and an all around better tradition on that side of the river.

The top players want to play for the top programs, reguardless if it is high school or college. If you want to get to the "next step", you have to play for a program who helps get you there.

I said Fargo area, not Moorhead. Please name D1 talent that has played for Moorhead recently that moved there from Fargo.

Plus you are making my point. Moorhead is head and shoulders above Fargo for tradition, coaching, etc. Just wishing that could change but I doubt it.

  8. BU didn't have that much hype preseason though. A little, but not like DU has right now. They got a lot of hype once the season got going... so it's a little bit different case. Remember, BC was the preseason number 1 team in the country?

True, but their hype grew rapidly after their first game..... :)

  9. All this hype for Denver could come crashing down all around them for all they know. (I'm expecting it) It could be a kiss of death like it was for CC. I'm waiting for a potential EPIC FAIL.

or they could live up to the hype ala BU
