I don't think Brad is going to ever provide that kind of a kick, nor should he. But, he didn't make excuses in the least bit.

    From his Weekend Rewind:

"UND seemingly has to labor and labor and labor and labor and pile up 35 shots just to get a puck to go in the net. And when it does go in, it feels like the team just climbed Mt. Everest. Then, the other team gets one good look — and sometimes not even a good look — and it goes in. Could there be a better example of that than Saturday night’s first period when UND outshot Canisius 23-2 and didn’t have a lead to show for it? And the telling part is that period didn’t feel strange. It seemed normal.

It’s fairly obvious by now that UND lacks high-end finishers this season. This has happened in too many games now to just chalk it up to bad luck or running into goalies who are playing out of their minds. Every team is going to run into a hot goalie a few times a year, but not every week. UND has been held to 1 or 0 goals in more than a third of the games now. That’s a trend."

The problem is that we have taken on that gopher mentality of "Yea, well we lost, be we out-shot them heavily so we must be the better team". Good Lord, even Schloss keeps writing about how bad we out-shoot our opponents!!! Who F*&^ing cares!!!!! A loss is a loss. We have lost our way on what our team jersey means and the institution and people they represent and what an Honor it is to play Fighting Sioux Hockey. This isn't Minnesota, BC, Michigan or Denver. Say all you want about those teams but we have much higher standards than those schools.

    Haha.

I’m really just worried about everyone standing near the ledge so early in the season.

I will always stand by the Sioux.....no matter what. But for the first time ever in my years of watching Sioux hockey, I'm really concerned about the lack of effort by the team. This is North Dakota, not Minnesota, BC, Denver or Michigan where you can get away with that. It used to be every year, opposing coaches would say about the Sioux is that "they just come in waves" no matter how much talent or lack there of. You never hear that anymore. We have won national titles with less talent.

So you equate making them dress in the football team's locker room as a punishment, yet hockey supporters get confused and defensive when supporters of the football team are so insistent on the importance of new facilities for the team. Can't make this stuff up.

Lighten up Francis. You know what i mean.

Like we saw with Las Vegas in the NHL last year, hard work can overcome a lot of things.  If you have a more mature team that works hard, they certainly can be very competitive.  Nobody would say that Minnesota State has more talent than BU, but they swept them for the second year in a row.  We have more than enough talent to be very competitive if they have the intensity to bear down.

That is the problem....lack of effort. I am the biggest Sioux fan around but i am so sick of our guys thinking they can just show up and win. Any kid in the country would love to play in this rink and have the facilities we have. If I were Berry i would make them dress over at Old memorial stadium and carry their bags to the Ralph and play. I don't care if we have blue-chippers or not. That has never been the issue with Fighting Sioux hockey. Right now the issue is who wants it more and who wants to come out of the corners with the puck with some tenacity and grit. We have lost our vision of what it means to play for the logo and North Dakota and until it changes it's going to be a long year. And don't tell me its way too early to panic. Anyone can see that the will is not there.

I've watched a lot of UND hockey and Saturday's game and how it was called was unique. I don't know if I've ever seen anything like it. Didn't watch the St. Cloud series, but have never heard Motzko react the way he did before. Fair or not, I wonder if you'll start to hear rumblings from opposing teams (you now have two) about the trip to Denver. Like I mentioned in my post above, Montgomery's tirades work, no doubt, he has the refs in his back pocket. I'm very interested to see and I'll pay close attention to how games are called going forward in Denver.

The refs got the Full Monty. What a complete embarrassment to the game.

Jesus, does Bisonville receive alerts every time the word "Bison" is said on siouxsports??

Yes. It's called narcissism. It runs rampant in Fargo.

My gut says, I don't think he will.  Whit said anyone who is not 100% won't play, and Hansen was 80% last week.  And by Whit, I mean coach Whittingham.  I just assume everyone knows who our coach is:blush:

Bubba is a much better football name.

Wow, some daunting things in that preview.  BUT, those numbers are great and everything...but they mean ZERO when it comes to this match-up with these players and these coaches on this year's version of both teams.  Let's see what UND can do!

You said the key phrase.....match-up. It's how teams match-up against each other, being assignment sound, and focused.

My cup is half full as well but I'm not about to say Utah is ripe for the picking like Wyoming was. That's all I'm saying.

Well lets just see what happens. Like i said before, if I'm UND, I would be salivating at the chance to play Utah.

Love the enthusiasm and all but, dude, cmon that WYO team was trash. This Utah team is strong.

I was taught to never, give up, never give in, the cup is always half full. This is Utah, not Bama. I just think UND's ground game will eventually where out the Utes.

I am a big, big believer in Bubba.

It will be a battle for 1 1/2 quarters while a new QB gets over some butterflies and it will be 21-10 at halftime. Second half heat and elevation will wear down UND and Utah will pile up points.

    Utah - 45

    ND - 17

    That's what Wyoming thought too.

Very true... then again I'm not making any assumptions on Bubba's defense... or offense.

All I'm saying is that football is football. No matter what level. Other than the same 5-6 FBS teams every year, it is everyone else after that fighting for the same recruits...including the top FCS teams. Give me 50-60 farm kids over any skilled team anyday. Still gotta strap the helmet on and play the downs. Bubba has got the ship going the right direction. He'll have his steam ready to play. UND has a monstrous offensive line and 3 very talented, and brute-like running backs with speed. A bit of a David vs. Goliath? Maybe. I'll take that challenge. Nothing sweeter than knocking off one of the big boys on the block.
