  1. I thought Bartels looked quite a bit better than Molberg all season.

Molberg played poorly through the toughest part of the schedule. Bartels would of stunk against Portland just as bad as Molberg. the protection was so poor all season that it was hard to get a good grasp of true talent. protection will be an emphasis in the off season. Hope, but there is no guarantee that it will be that much better. it will be interesting to see how it shakes out. there was so much hype on this board last year about the "epic battle" abd great receiving corpse last year. I would love to see some one just humbly work their butt off, learn and understand the offense, and win the job.......no matter who it is!

  2. And I am not saying he is wrong. It was arguably the biggest problem with the Mussman regime. But he is telling us something that most of us already know. And the closing comments at the end of the article sounded a little like "Meet the new boss.....same as the old boss". I think Bubba deserves a little more of a honeymoon period than 1+ month. Like I said before, National Signing Day is a Cheerleaders Day for FB programs all across America and it should be used to pump up the excitement and hope for the future in the fan base. And this fan base needs some serious pumping up right now.

jmho but I tend to agree with.you. the class looks good taking into account that we all saw a big departure at the end of last year and didn't know what to expect from this class. I am exited at the numbers and the quality it sure could have been worse?

  3. Keaton is a good QB and I have nothing against him coming to UND, I am just more of a fan of tall pro style QB's. 6'0 180lbs could have difficulty seeing receivers past a big OL.

It seems that tall, pro-style qb;s with big arms are everyones dream. how may did we face in the thrashings we took this year? game managing, smart qb's are what we need. if they happen to be tall with huge arns....great. but not the first prerequisite.

  4. I have always been a believer in recruiting locally first. But I'm a ND transplant and can say that the talent level here in MN at the average high school is much higher than in ND. I've been able to see a lot of the high profile seniors play this year and it's a little upsetting that we haven't done more with this class. If you look online, this 2014 class is loaded with FBS and FCS offers. Many of whom UND didn't offer (not saying they're missing out but when everyone else offers, we probably should too.)

Now..... as far as the QB spot goes, Connor Wilkie and Jaques Perra are the top two QBs in Minnesota. (Neither of which UND offered) Not sure if we offered either PWOs but Perra has a PWO from the Gophers and a scholarship offer from USD. So if you want to go the route of "No one else has offered so why should we?" you must also understand that there are many kids across the river we're not taking in.

Highlight film aside, both of these guys could play at UND and having seen Keaton play this past September, I don't think he is the top recruit at his position in MN. He runs better than the other two, but he lacks their arm strength. Depends on what type of offense Bubba wants I suppose.

I am speaking in generalities here so nobody take this too personal. I am much less interested in "arm strength" than I am in a game managing qb that can make 95% of the throws and have a solid grasp on decision making.. Molberg has a huge arm and arguably the best receiving corps in fcs but lacked accuracy and game savy, imho. obviously we would take the best of both worlds but those kids don't land on our laps very often.

  5. it will be interesting to see how well the new coaching staff can retain their scholared recruits. there at least seems to be a more committed mentality at getting more local kids. if you take a look at the whole picture, it seems one could field as good of a team if we have a higher percentage of kids that will give us five yeas and commit to our program vs. az, ca, fla kids that take a couple of years worth of our scholarship funds then decide, for whatever reason, that und is not for them. jmho.

  6. any of these kids that und has devoted time and scholarship money to come play is some what of a loss. it surely isn't a gain? these money's could have gone to Midwest kids with a higher probability of sticking with our program. Muss's strategy was clearly misguided, factoring in his leadership abilities and the fact that kids have had a tough time buying into our program

  7. These are the players leaving I remember seeing on here or other outlets:

Jameer Jackson - transfer to Mankato

Kenny Golladay - transfer to Northern Illinois

Darryl Brown - transfer to Duluth

Mike Edwards - transfer to juco

Joel Isenberger - transfer to Winona

    Ryan Cain

    Anthony Fletcher

    Rumeal Harris

    Dan Konowalski

    Dustin Adams - injury

Cam Kuksa - injury status unkown

PJ Sparks - ? - rumored to move to Cali, some say he's back in GF

This is what a remember, may be a few more, I'm not sure. Feel free to add to or make corrections to this list....

  8. That's too extreme in my opinion. I do agree that this team will be improved next season, though, due to better quarterback play, a running game presence, disciplined defense, and improved coaching/leadership. I'd go with 4 or 5 wins, but 6 is possible.

We have/are/still loosing some offensive fire power. I would be a little more conservative until we get a look at next years team

  9. I was speaking yesterday with 2 friends that are former college coaches and they both believe that UND now has a better staff than NDSU. They also believe UND football will become the more dominant program over the next 4-5 years. I even tried to play devils advocate in the discussion, but was stopped abruptly with reasons for the shift in power.

lets not get the cart ahead of the horse here. I agree It might be fun to dream of a potential. turn around of circumstances. BUT, we need to humbly build Sioux football from the ground up. what happens to NDSU shouldn't matter.

  10. Wow, nice job Shaugabay! Bye bye Golladay, sounds like a real team player! Punk.

kids are different these days. this isn't a Hoosiers movie. we can be mad all we want. mad with no players is no way to go thru life as a football program. I will apologize upfront if I amewrong but given the circumstances, I think the administration has done a crappy job keeping the players informed and educated. a few lousy emails doesn't keep these kids close. I have heard from a player there has been little organized contact.

  11. I gotta bad feeling its gonna be a jail break of departures in fr, rsfr classes. Liow moral, many biutt kicking during seaon, not allowed on sidelines during game, no coach/discipline, home sick, weather, young enuf to start over closer to home, etc, etc, etc, I am old school. But the kids these days are different. Can't say stick it out for und pride. Just wont work with these kids/environment. Jmho
