  1. Well that seems about right. GV isnt very good in sports besides football. Except for the whole winning Presidents cups thing. Their 3rd straight is already in the bag.

Thats not even from a GV fan Bulldog.
  3. Well, its not that we dont have the players on offense, its just that we dont have an experienced coach running the show. We have pretty much the same skill players as last season, only with a year more experience. The one thing that has hurt a lot has been key injuries. The line has lost 3 starters to season ending injuries and Tennessee is playing on one leg. Finnerty has lost most of his confidence and therefore the coach who was conservative to begin with, is now even more conservative. There is a prevailing thought that anytime the offense could emerge and light up the scoreboard, but I dont think Martin's playcalling will even make it possible. Plus, against an awesome defense like UND's, it will be tough. GV's defense has been incredible lately, but how long will they carry the team while the offense looks to find its way? I have been predicting the Lakers to go down the past 3 weeks so I better keep with the tradition and pray that they keep proving me wrong. Sioux 10 Lakers 3

    WE WON!

I think scheduling UND would be a great idea. We need someone to play and it would be good to start off the season with a great team like UND. We have beaten UC Davis the past 2 seasons but we wont be playing them anymore after their move to DI this past year. As far as Saginaw Valley, here is the info. Yes, they are extremely good. They beat us early in the season and took us to the wire in the playoffs. Trying not to make excuses for the first loss, but we had 6 turnovers in that game and were missing 7 starters. You cant beat a great team playing like that, so we took the lump and accepted the challenge in the playoffs and were able to come on top. I am sure that SV is very bitter because we have stood in their way for a while and it has become a very bitter rivalry. A lot of us thought that the regional final game would determine who won the NC so that is why they are upset. I cant guarantee that they would have beaten TAMUK or UND so nothing is set in stone anyway. Next year they will be very hungry and looking to finally get over that hump in the playoffs. The new Midwest region will probably have the three best teams in the country with UND, GV, and SV. Should be very interesting in the playoffs.
  5. Yeah, ESPN screwed the fans over. For people who lived in Allendale, the title game was cut into right at 4, but for those of us who live in the Grand Rapids area they stuck with the stupid basketball game until the end. Anyway, heres a story about it. I think ESPN owes the people of North Dakota and West Michigan free magazine supscriptions or something. http://www.mlive.com/lakers/grpress/index....00801153160.xml

    hey guys

You are believing this guy?? I doubt he was even there.
  7. Already said my congrats in a different post, but I wanted to say nice job on behalf of the Lakers. UND played us as well as anyone has in 3 years. Great game between two great teams.

    WE WON!

Many apologies for Lakerfan4Life. To my knowlege we dont have any posters at the GV board or on Mlive with that name so I am not real sure who he/she is. I hate to see gloating on another teams website though so I apologize for the rudeness, that in no way represents our school. The game was a great game between two class programs, and it could have gone either way. Early on, I thought that GV was going to win in a rout, but UND hung tough and battled like they have all season. I would be very proud of your team if I were you because they played us as tough as anyone has in the past 3 years. Again congrats on your season and your effort in the game today, you deserve a great deal of credit. Hopefully we will be seeing more of eachother, we are feeling pretty confident about a fourth trip next year with most of our starters returning. One more thing, I know this person does not represent your fans but if you know this person, could you please remove DakotaStomps from our Mlive board? He is so ridiculous that its hilarious, but still...all his nonsense posts are clogging up the board.
  9. Its almost impossible to predict scores for D2 football games. Look at how bad the supposed experts are. All that I have for comparison is how this year's GV team stacks up to last years. I dont think that this years team is anywhere near the 2002 version, but so far it hasnt seemed to matter. Coming into the season I think a lot of GV fans were expecting 8-3 or 9-2 and MAYBE a playoff spot, but we had no idea this young team would do so well. All I know is that GV's offense can roll no matter who is in there (as demonstrated this year by all the starting freshman) and their defense has been dominating. I have no idea how good UND is, and that is why we play the game. I think if GV plays like they did against Kingsville they will be fine. But there is always that possibility of not showing up like they did against Saginaw in the first game. That sometimes happens with a young and inexperienced team. Should be a great game between two great defenses though.
  10. 2800 tickets to be sold to Laker fans starting Monday morning. I think everyone is planning on jumping on them early because they wont last. Cant wait to get back to Alabama again, they are gonna rename it Laker Stadium pretty soon. Just kidding, hopefully we will see you guys out there.

    Revenge

RD17, I apologize if you thought my comments were out of line. I really wasnt trying to get into a game of would have and could have. Its just that most Laker fans are still dissapointed that we lost our best player in the first half of the first playoff game. Yeah, I think most of us believe having Anes in the lineup would have been a lot better for our team. Case in point, with Anes as QB, we beat Saginaw Valley (our toughest rival) 38-7, with Anes out we had to fight for our lives and hang on 33-30 in the playoffs. Maybe it would have made no difference against UND, we will never know. But seriously, I never intended to disrespect UND at all, just wanted to say good luck and looking forward to another great game. I think you will find most Lakers are very classy, and we have enjoyed talking football with the TAMUK fans, they were quite refreshing after having to deal with Sagnasty fans all season. I am sure you guys are on the same level for class as TAMUK, real football fans.

    Revenge

On behalf of the Lakers, just wanted to say I am looking forward to a great game next Saturday. I think most GV fans were hoping to play UND so N. Alabama wouldnt be playing in front of the home fans. 2001 was a classic game but still leaves a bitter taste in our mouths, 30 seconds away from the title and a missed tackle ruined everything. Despite the loss, we were still proud of our guys, we did pretty well considering our WR was playing QB. If Anes would have played we would have cakewalked to the title like last season and be playing for our third straight NC. However, this years team is a lot different than last. We graduated about 95% of our offense and are starting mostly freshman on offense. This was supposed to be a rebuilding season but so far it has been a pretty amazing and unexpected run. I think you guys are in a similar situation. Anyway, should be a great game. Good luck...but not too much.
