Winning a championship on any level is an accomplishment. But I do have to say I dont consider Quinnipiac to be one of the big boys. Or the fact that of the 60 teams who play hockey 23 are D2 and D3. But thats just me. I also know we are in the second tier of D1 of which I have no problem with.
Serious question, are there any D2 or D3 schools with FCS football teams, similar to hockey? I know there's a lot of small Eastern schools with successful FCS football programs like there are in D1 hockey.

I admittedly have not yet come to like the Fighting Hawks nickname. But it was nice having a nickname so we didn't have to hear about the controversy during the ESPN broadcasts.

Anyone have a good scouting report on QU? I saw them play for a few minutes when they were up big on RIT. The way Starman describes them is the same as he describes Duluth: very structured defensively with a lot of individually skilled offensive players. Will be an interesting matchup if that's the case

I think Bucci was confusing White/Darks with how the NHL does it with White being lower seed. Schlossman is saying UND will most likely wear Black business suits
Hajdu wouldn't confirm on Twitter. I'd still love to see our green lids and breezers with the black sweaters someday.

I'd like to see the CBS line play with more urgency against Denver than they did against Michigan. Boeser has one of the best releases in college hockey but he was too slow getting rid of the puck on a couple odd man rushes that should have been scoring chances. Schmaltz needs to shoot the puck more. He had atleast two golden shot opportunities where he held onto the puck to wait for a passing lane to open. In playoff hockey, you take open shots. That's my opinion. They still played great, especially defensively, but I think they could've had a couple goals on Michigan if they played with more pace and urgency.

Just rewatched the game from last night. I noticed St. Clair came out of the tunnel for warm ups but was never on the line chart to play. Is it normal for scratches to warm up with the team?

Anyone have any suggestions on where to watch the games in Marco Island?

Yeah, let's hope he doesn't lose it at the wrong time. I saw a few times where UND players went after guys after they felt they were wronged. Chyzyk and Boeser have looked for retribution a few times after missed calls the other way. Hopefully they take some for the team and the refs make up for missed calls going forward. Did anyone from UND address the video review of Poolman's hit? I can see them reviewing the play for a major if they called a penalty initially, but when they didn't call anything, how do you review that. That is opening a can of worms that can make games 2-1/2 to 3 hours long.
I'm not exactly sure, but I believe the linesman can tell the referee if there was a potential major penalty that the referees missed. Then the referee can review it and decide if there was a major penalty based on replay

Could Conference tournaments go away? Not saying I think they will but I'm just curious if it's a decision each individual conference can make or if the NCAA rules require them all to have one

I disagree with the article as well. If good ideas come locally, use the professionals to come up with the entire brand package while incorporating the local ideas. That's where a logo companie's value will be.
I would proudly wear this logo not only because how great it looks but also because it was designed by one of us, who is passionate about the university, its players and fans.
I would love to see it materialize.

The bottom feathers look WAY too much like the headdress feathers on a Sioux war bonnet. No way this passes muster.
Of course they do. The fact is that feathers must be grown on a bird before they are put on a headdress. They are not different feathers!

My first notion: the simple, yet complex.
The old Milwaukee Brewers glove logo. Or was it an "M", a "B", and a baseball?
See that and other simple yet complex ideas here:

I just recently noticed the "H" in the Whalers logo. Mind was blown

Be one way to get people to boo when their own team is announced. Booing the name will sound like booing the players?
Yes. If any UND fans boo the name THEY deserve to get punched in the back of the head. I'm not a fan of the name but I am a fan of the players that will be representing it. You can't boo one and not the other

I agree. I don't see any giddyness. I see either acceptance, or the early stages of grief. Just like the no nicknamers were told to move on, the Roughriders diehards will need to do the same. But it will take some time.
Go Hawks!!
Is Chicago playing tonight?

I'm guessing there will be some recruits in this weekend. Place should be poppin
The coaches were out to eat last night with Boesser and 3 other kids. I don't know what most of our freshman look like so I'm not sure, but I'd bet there were a couple recruits.

It looks like DU's Pioneers logo and the NAU Lumberjacks logo had one torrid "Brokeback Mountain" night.
DU would be so pissed at our manly Boone

Perhaps, but there was a Thunderhawk, and that may be the reason that was left off. At least that would have differentiated us a bit, as we could have been T-Hawks for short. Don't think we'll be the F-Hawks for short.

Using the Vancouver Canucks as an example would work - if their name was the Canucklandia Canucks. Also, the Canucks have changed their logo and colors a ridiculous number of times in their history, something I don't think UND should be looking at doing at all. The Detroit Red Wings logo, the New York Yankees NY logo, the Dallas Cowboys star logo - now those are logos that stand the test of time - and that's what North Dakota should be trying to find.
I was just referring to logo possibilities. I agree with you that North Dakota Nodaks is redundant. I used Canucks as an example of a team that can use a variety of logos because they have an undescript nickname, not because of the phonetics of their name.
-
P.S. - Nodaks is not a free for all logo-wise. It probably has to be North Dakota themed, because...ya know...it's derived from North Dakota.
It's not exactly apples to apples, but if you once again use the Vancouver Canucks as an example, the logo possibilities are pretty flexible. They went from their skate logo (one of my all-time favorites) to their current whale logo.
If Nodaks wins, it would be cool if they design a logo themed toward the runner-up. That could possibly get more people on board.
We could be like Alabama and pick the most irrelevant animal possible to our state/nickname and go with it!

Just today they had 2 players sign NHL contracts and 2 players refuse NHL offers. There will be more from this years team to play in the NHL. They are also the second winningest program since 2012. Would be #1 if they had beat UND.
