  1. Exactly like the NDSU @ USD and NDSU @ WIU games. We don't come to Bville to point out how small time your program is. Lakes does a good job at that.

The part about hockey. You have a bison complex
  2. Even without the lousy stream and play, this game has the atmosphere of an NAIA Div 2 game. Good thing our hockey team is doing well.

    Quoted for classic truth.
  3. The people of planet earth salute you! Sanity!

This is 100% true. One would have hoped that Faison would have had the ability as an AD to not lead with emotion on this issue and sign a contract that will severely limit his ability to negotiate games in the future. However, Faison has no idea how to do his job and quite frankly is a large part of the reason this program has deteriorated to the point it has.

It's apparent from NDSU's press conference that the offer was more or less Gene Taylor's last insult to UND before he walked out the door and, unfortunately, thanks to our AD and head coach we were stupid enough to accept it. We accepted an offer that was intended to be an insult. That's where this program is at right now. Also, any UND fan, administrator, or coach that thinks they will ever play a game in GF needs to have their head examined.

I'm a UND football alum and a season ticket holder so it's incredibly painful to watch this university continue to be mismanaged. This university just isn't serious about football. I'm tired of the kool aid drinkers who continue to think that this program will improve or somehow catch NDSU while we continue to do the same stupid !@#$ that got us in this place. Let's be honest this program won't catch NDSU by having the fourth highest coaching salaries in the Big Sky. This program won't even win the Big Sky that way. This program won't catch NDSU as long as our football program's offices, locker room, and weight room continue to be in our cramped, broken down old stadium. Hell, fixing an obvious problem like that isn't even in the initial phase of the new IPF as the locker rooms and football offices aren't even in Phase I of the project. We like to pretend that we have some grand scheme of catching NDSU but our plan is essentially the same tired plan of hoping for NDSU falter while trying to run our own program on a shoestring budget. It's a tired joke.

I'm of the opinion that really the best thing that can come of this game is that they beat us so fucking bad next year that our alumni and administration are so embarrassed that they finally get off their asses and start trying to change the way we do things around here. If that's what it takes for this university and community to invest in this program then so be it.

  4. When is the last time UND hockey has agreed to a home and home series with Holy Cross, Alabama Huntsville, Merrimack, etc? They haven't because while the label of Division 1 hockey may be the same they are not at the same level. The same reasoning goes with NDSU's scheduling of UND in football. While they may both be labeled FCS, they are not on the same level. If you want to play them, you agree to it on NDSU's terms. Just like UND's OOC hockey opponents.

    ^^^^ T H I S I S T H E S T A T U S O F U N D F O O T B A L L .

    Deal with it.

  5. So let's say Mussman gets canned after the season. Obviously Faison can make a mean sales pitch with the facilities and the coming upgrades. But what caliber of pitch can be made in terms of talent on the team that will return?

    Offense.

-There appear to be a few fr hogs that could be special (Miller, Stockwell, and Bell). Anderson is a very good play and could slide out to tackle if he has to. Walker has been pretty inconsistent at center and had a rough game against Sac St but has been pretty solid at times.

-WR is obviously stocked full of talent and Carr and McGill will add to the depth next year in the absence of Hardin.

-At RB we will have Garmin Shaugs Sparks Varner and Sharp. None of these players has had enough carries for us to truly know what they have. Sharp, however, seems to be a different breed than the others. This young man has the look of a RB, he's got Hershal Walker type traps and very broad shoulders. He was close to getting his shirt pulled in fall camp but didn't more so because they had alot of backs without him than because he wasn't good enough. We still could use a 230lb power back to pound the rock though.

-At QB we have two highly recruited rfr and an athletic rather unknown fr. These guys need to be developed. It really hurt to lose Riddle, I thought he could have been something special.

-At FB we have a super athletic fr that can block run and catch.

-Who knows what we have at TE they don't see the ball. They can block but we don't spend a whole lot of time in jumbo sets unless we're at the goal line.

    Defense.

-The DL has a few really talented young players. Edwards is a monster who will get better and more consistent. Cheatom has been pretty good in spots but is still pretty green. Cary came into camp injured and from what I hear was the top candidate for getting his shirt pulled before his injury. Carrothers is a guy I really like, he has a great motor and attitude.

-At LB there are some promising young talents that need to get experience and be developed. Rich Labat Wharton Ratelle Norberg Idowu and Beard are all very athletic and big players that are legit D1 talents. This could form a very good LB corps if developed properly.

-The secondary has two young stud safeties in Kuksa and Reyes. CB is a huge weakness on this team Brown has digressed as the season has gone on and other than him maybe Konowalski can be a good player but the other CBs just aren't good.

So for an incoming coach it's not as if there is nothing to work with. There are weaknesses obviously, which would need to be addressed, but there is plenty of talent in the younger players. Enough to snag a really good coach? We'll see I guess.

    This has to be muss.
  6. Google the word. Lee Bohnet wrote a book a few years ago documenting UND athletics including FB. UND was a conference power for years, played and won a number of D2 bowl games and played in 2 National Championship games winning one. From the Red Jarret teams of the 1930's or the Fritz Pollard teams (Olympic athlete who played FB here and whose Dad was the first black head FB coach in the NFL) to our dominance over our pals from the south over the years including our 10-3 record over the last 13 contests I think we have had an excellent program. I am not into comparing us right now with other excellent programs cuz I think we need to "right the ship" first.

    UofMinn's definition too. Thank you

  7. No, we aren't.

We would look foolish by acting as if it were a true D-1 Championship. People laugh at that.

It should be called the I-AA championship like it was in the past. If you actually believe it is a true D-1 championship, you are fooling yourself.

The Mean Machine will probably win and get their 30 seconds of fame on SportsCenter. Then, their fans will puff their chests and claim to be able to beat the likes of 'Bama or the Fighting Irish, cuz theys all D-1 Champs! THAT is what looks foolish.

This post is a microcosm of what is wrong with the attitude of the majority of our fan base. Hockey, with it's 60 schools is so damn important that our own football teams competition level is belittled.

  8. And yet Bison fans called the UND-Texas Tech a moral victory. I guess rewards are only for MVFC teams.

Actually, Mussman "toe-to-toe'd" that one himself.

  9. Once again FU trolls making sure they get the last word...on a UND board! You guys are sure talking big after just squeaking by SDSU.

Dude, no love for su here, just respect for where they're at in the level of football we both play at.

    Welcome to planet earth!

  10. Ya, we know. The Bizon are clearly the talk of Kansas St fans, Oregon fans, Notre Dame fans, ESPN, Fox, CBS, NBC. Crimson Tide fans are wishing they could be the bizon, now. Everywhere everyone is talking about the bizon. :xmas::silly:

I was unaware that when we went bigsky, we went FBS like the schools you mentioned above.

  11. Yes, clearly that is what it is.

Well, in all honesty, who doesn't want to be the bison right now?

They are the defending national champs, and currently ranked #1 in the nation.

    I'd take it... anyone would.

  12. What kind of logic? Self-Preservation. If the defense continues on the current path, Mussman will not have a job in a couple of years (if not sooner). If Bubba could help him turn the program around and Mussman's coaching stock rises, he could get a better job someplace else and then Bubba is right there to take over the program.

Age is just a number. And besides, with age comes experience and lessons learned. We need all the help we can get right now. And I don't care how radical the ideas are, as long as they work.

how about our athletic department focus on a mainstream sport like football instead of hockey? The football team is in a very bad spot right now in that they are losing badly and the narrow fan base will now just go follow the hockey season. It's happened all through the transition, and it will happen again. People like to watch a winner, and the rea consistently produces a contender.
  13. If you can absorb what you read it is all true - & logical to how there is still hope - your option means you gave up - are to afraid of things that may never happen - work for Kelly UND Payroll - Hate the Sioux Name or Sioux people - I could go on

Lets agree we disagree - But keep your broken record fears in a post of your own this one is Why We All Should See This Threw

IF Not It Would Have Been Over - Because of the Push by Kelly to make it so - A lot of people seem to agree & we will see come election time :whistling:

I don't understand. What throw did you see?

  14. UND needs to be preparing for this possibility. We saw what happened when we weren't ready to move to D1AA in the 1970's and what happened when we weren't ready to move when the AC and SDSU moved before we did. The AC needs to do the same and in fact I think the AC, SDSU, and USD need to keep an eye on the Big Sky. UND will need to forget the past crap and help them make the move if and when the opportunity arises. If Wyoming can play in the WAC UND and the AC can. Just need to pick up the pace and start engaging with the Billionare Alumni. Look what Ralph did for UND. We have a couple more alumni with those resources. Gotta start thinking outside the box and rather than find excuses not to move we need to look for opportunites. We can always say no, but we can't miss opportunites becasue we aren't thinking ahead and lack of preparation means it won't happen.

Yes, look what Ralph did for UND. Look at every post in this 'Sioux Name' forum.
