  1. So we are gonna drop the indian head logo for a logo of teddy roosevelt who once said--- "I don't go so far as to think that the only good Indians are dead Indians, but I believe nine out of ten are, and I shouldn't like to inquire too closely into the case of the tenth."

    makes sense to me

Now it would be the only good Indian is a logo supporter. Considering the comments that are made about the supporters and the anti-logo ones this would be a true statement.

  2. Yeah, it's getting bad. The 5-9 260 lb. dad and 5-2 180 lb. mom think little Timmy is going to somehow have the athletic genetics to earn a scholarship coupled with the "my kid can do no wrong" attitude and kids growing up being coddled and believing they are entitled to everything they want(see the Occupy ___________street idiots).

How true can a post get.

  3. When has youth athletics ever been for the kids?

When I was a kid we went to the park on bikes for baseball, no parents. Walked to the rink for hockey, outside no parents. Walked to a different park for YMCA flag football, np parents. This was in the 70's. Let's look at some past D1 players from Grand Forks. Mike Lamoine, no travelling teams. Dean Barsness, no traveling teams. Tim Loven, no traveling teams. Denver Dave Hanson, no traveling teams.

  4. From what i hear some of the grand forks hockey parents want their kids on the blues/supras to theirkids can travel/get more ice time then jsut playing park board. they made a huge fuss about it from my understanding. the blues/supras parents didnt want the kids that qoute unqoute arent able to play hockey good enough on their team or they didnt have a grand forks last name/grand forks money.

Is it for the kids or the parents status and social life?

  5. Mr. Steak became Somebody's Restaurant, which became Toppers, which became 32 Ave Eatery (spinoff of 42nd St Eatery...same owner) then that burned down. Think the guy got charged with insurance fraud for starting the fire.

Toppers was awesome. Burger with the seasoned fries and a butterfinger shake......doesn't get any better!!

I thought there was a name bewteen Mr. Steak and Toppers forgot about Somebodys. I do remember that he started serving 42nd st. food but forgot the 32nd Ave. Eatery. You have good memory so what was where Paradiso before Paradiso and not La Capana.

  6. That got me thinking....

Anyone remember what the 50's esque restaurant that Shakey's became was called? I can't remember for the life of me. I think that Dagwoods (or whatever its called now) - the second one, after they moved from their first location on Columbia Road, to their second location out by the university was one of those 50's ish restaurants too...

Actually Skakeys was next door. Toppers was the old Mr. Steak restaurant.

  7. I had tickets to both days, but the Monopoly known as Delta wants $930 to fly into Grand Forks and $850 to fly into Fargo from Denver. I think I will save my money and watch the games on TV at the local bar.

    Try planning ahead.

  8. I was at the game tonight, and I have to say the we definitely have some young, up and coming talent on our team. The only two main draw backs I saw tonight was the lack of experience and size, both of the issues will be resolved eventually. I think by this time next week we will know a little more about this young team and what their potential might be for this season. I have to say I was impressed at the way they moved the puck around to create opportunities. With that said, I thought the new video screen looked amazing! I also noticed that the sound was also remarkably better, did we also get ne speakers in the Ralph?

Wasn't the fire started in the speakers?

  9. Craig Bohl to the Gophers = I could no longer cheer for the Gophers.

Not that Craig Bohl isn't a good football coach, but he is college football's answer to Bill Belichik. A smug and pompous little weasel of a man who is so full of himself it's sickening. He's a good coach, just ask him.

    Reminds me of Hakstol.

  10. I always stay at the beautiful Plaza Motel in East Grand for 60 bucks a night. Now that Whiteys will be back open we always take the bus to the game and no driving involved after having a few beers at the game. Nothing fancy but it is always clean and the folks who run it are super nice.

The Plaza is actually a nice place. You are right the owners are real nice people. I talked to the owner of Whitey's the other day when a sold him one of the old booth juke boxes that hung on the wall there and he said he hoped to be open in 2 weeks. Might be his opening weekend.
