  1. Man, you are so advanced because you've heard the old adage "it's not what you know, but who you know that matters".

Congrats! Welcome to being over 9 years old.

Hey jimdahl what about this? Does this poster get a reprimand?
  2. Yep, their called legacy recruits. And unfortunately, recruiting is an inexact science. Not everyone ends up being Zach Parise. Some guys are not destined to be superstars. That's life champ.

Now you got anymore big insider info for us? You must already have line charts for Friday in Alaska, right bud?

Nothing I posted was not common knowledge. A lot of people, and I mean a lot, could have said the same thing on who was related to who and who came here because of their name. Since at the time Morelli and Marvin played here everyone made comments on why they were here. So nothing new there.

I thought you guys were the experts on lines?
  4. The phrase "having once been a fan" to me suggests you have an axe to grind. Perhaps you know somebody who has an axe to grind because they didn't get enough playing time or something when either of those guys was here. Also, just because you say it is fact, does not make it so. If you indeed have an axe to grind, then your perspective could be quite skewed.

Just do not care anymore. No axe to grind and I wish them nothing but the best. Prefer to look at things from an impartial view instead of a tainted one.
  5. Almost in heaven, ur kind of a dbag. With all of your insider info and hockey knowledge, you must have ur finger on the pulse of this program. U must have been instrumental in the boys having a huge weekend. We are all so grateful (sarcasm laid on thick).

Talk about a !@#!$!. I am not the one here pretending to know everything, I'll leave that up to all the arm chair coaches here. I pointed out some facts and you get your panties in a knot. Who has the real problem? With people, like many of the posters here, I am embarassed to having once been a fan. I am !@#!$! because I have, and know, some people connected to the program directly and most of you never have seems to make people jealous that they have never known their idols. That is what is said. This forum is to talk about Sioux hockey. It was pointed out that UND does not recruit based on lineage and I asked how two guys would have ever played here without it. So I am the bad guy? You people really need to get a life.
  6. His kid? You were talking about two different people....Morelli - which could refer to two people....Reggie or Matthew (who played for us at the late 80s - earlier 90s) and Izzy Marvin who is David Marvin. Unless you are trying to refer to Lee Marvin, who is David's nephew and son of Jon and Lori. Which person would you like me to refer to?

And how would how long I have been a fan have to do with anything...its called looking it up. For your information, I have been a UND fan since I was a child and I have been a huge hockey fan since I started at UND as a freshman, which was 7 years ago.

Has Matt's kid played here? No. That means it would have to be Reg's kid that played here though he was not good enough. There is only one Izzy Marvin so what is so hard to figure out? Are you still a freshman?
  7. Do you realize how moronic and petty your statements sound? While it's true that Paul and Luke might be connected to the coach these two kids, who the heck cares, the two players in question are also two of the best players from North Dakota for their age group.

More like how petty it is of all of you that think this is a bad question to ask. For one thing Chad is a friend of mine and I was just wondering what it would be like to coach the kids.
  8. Morrelli played for the Sioux in the late 50s before the NCAA got stricter about those things. And again, Izzy played for us in the late 1980s before the NCAA got stricter about those things.

And Wilbur, I am slightly confused? Are you trying to say that the Parises paid UND to get Jordan here or that they made Zach's commitment contigent on Jordan being recruited? Either way, not the same situation as making a recruitment contigent on donations.

How short of time have you been a fan? I was talking about his kid who played here.
  9. Hahahaha.....calling a spade a spade. Jordan Parise was your average USHL goaltender, who just happened to end up at UND. Take nothing away from Jordan, the kid played lights out in the net for UND, and won them some hockey games they probably shouldn't have won (darn near won them a national championship). But I think we all know how/why he ended up in a Sioux uniform.

He was way better than he was ever expected to be.
  10. Uh, to tie a offer to whether or not your relative donates money is an NCAA violation. His offer would be tied to how well he plays, not money.

Then how did Morelli get to play here? Or Izzy "Gonna cough up the puck again" Marvin?
  11. What do you mean by that?

Sorry about that. My responce was to a responce which was to a statement about LaDue playing for UND. Since his grandfather is a major donor he should get an offer here. Or don't you know who his grandfather is?
  12. I think it is wishful also, but your numbers are wrong.

The petition signed in favor of having the vote was 2/3's, but didn't

get to vote. The other tribe already voted and it passed with the majority, so I don't know where you get your numbers.

By the total number of Sioux. If there is so much support at SR then why did none of the supporters get on the tribal council? Where do you get 2/3rds from? Archie Fool Bear who does not have the respect of the tribe. Even if 2/3rds signed a petition at SL that would be 4,000 people. Funny but only 600 voted for it.
  13. I heard through the grape vine that UND might be interested in him as well. I would imagine that since his uncle works for SCSU they are probably going to be in the mix as well.

More important is how much money his grandfather gives UND.
  14. Didn't know this, first I heard of this and was curious if its even a possibility, or just a wishful thinking..

Purely wishful thinking. Does not matter what SL does without SR coming along, which will never happen because the supporters there, aka Archie Fool Bear, do not have the respect of the tribe. How can I say they do not have the respect? Look at their last election. A small group, and it is a very small group, considering that less than 1% voted in favor of it. That is one percent of all Sioux and only 10% of SL members. Does not seem to be a lot of support as it is made out to be.
  15. If you want to assume that's what I meant, fine by me. I could tell you whatever I want in terms of what they do because you wouldn't know if I was lying or not, so I'll just do both of us a favor and not.

Do what you have to do, fine by me. I've done my fair share of stupid things, so I'm not going to point fingers at those who smoke pot and act like I'm perfect. I'm merely pointing out what I've observed as a non-smoker. To be fair, I've personally never witnessed a pot smoker do anything that would put another in harm's way (except for hitting a golf ball with a 7 iron in a courtyard surrounded by apartments at 2am roughly 6 years ago (which was probably caused by his alcohol consumption instead) and in my drunken stupor I found quite funny myself, so I'm just as guilty for not stopping him, even though I wasn't smoking). So, since I'm only speaking on personal observations, I can't say that it is any more dangerous than other legal consumables when used improperly (though I do believe that smoking does inhibit proper mental judgments, and in turn, would likely cause someone to put another in harm's way if it indeed was used improperly).

I'm trying to be fair. End of discussion on my end.

I am sorry for misunderstanding you. I thought that you were saying the smokers turned out bad. Your last statement though I would relate to alcohol more than pot.
  16. Started looking for rooms in Tampa and I'm more than a little p o'd. A room near the arena that costs $119./night today is going for over $300./night over the F4 timeframe! The other hotels in the same general vicinity have all jacked up their prices to twice or more as well. I'm all for making a profit but that's ridiculous! What a rip off!! For those prices, I can stay farther away, rent a car and still not spend as much money. But, I love being walking distance from all the F4 activities......

Have you ever thought about renting a house or condo for the week? Check out these sites and maybe it would best for you. www.vrbo.com, www.vacationrentals.com, or www.homeaway.com.
