  1. Don't they allow you on the Bison website? If I want to hear or read stuff about the Bison I would go there. Pls be gone, I am sick of you on this site whether you have anything that makes sense or not.

    Well of course they do.

A word of advice as well, never tell someone they are getting on your nerves via a message board. All it does is gives them more reason to stay active.

  2. "Was" being the key word.................Woodside is gone ya know,

Trust me, I'm aware that Jimmy Chitwood is no longer with us. We have a great sophomore-to-be class however. Trayvonn Wright is a gamechanger. Mike Felt is money. Taylor Braun is pretty good. Marshall Bjorkland is pretty good too. Pretty young like UND, just bigger.

  3. You are truly delusional beyond belief if you honestly believe these ridiculous statements. It's one thing to be a fan, but try to maintain some objectivity.

Trust me, im pretty objective. I thought the Bison were going to have another bad year last year. I'm not even optomistic about this season(No passing game). But 3-8 '09 Bison played in a tough conference, lost a few close games(not claiming moral victory at all, win on scoreboard counts for a lot more). Pat Paschall was unstoppable though, I guess the Bison Faithful can be proud of that. I just don't think you guys can fully comprehend right now how much tougher it gets to win when you play in a real conference. The Great West hasn't gotten you guys ready for real conference football any better than it got us ready. It is a bitch, playing UNI, SDSU, Youngstown, Southern Illinois, etc.

NDSU since the Nickel series ended has gotten loads better for the most part. A lot due to the transition, maybe some due to Bohl's recruiting but that more than likely came from moving into Division 1. UND since that overtime win in the Alerus has not showed you guys a lot to be proud of, with the exception of beating UNI, something NDSU just can't quite figure out of late.

Back to the main point of the thread, lets see the game in the playoffs, let's get the dome rocking,

  4. I seem to remember a certain Sioux football team that went into Northern Iowa and stunned a D1AA squad. Ryan Dressler lead a UND squad with 35 schlorships against a fully funded national power in their home building.I think this is in the tlme frame you speak of.You may think your bison are way ahead of UND but it might be closer than you think. When was the last time you won in Northern Iowa?I don't think your ad gene wants any part of UND.It is a no win situation for him.If he wins he was suppose to,if he loses him and kojak can go find champman and bond.Aren't you just happy to be out on summer vacation. When are you scheduled to go to fargo for sport camp. How many did ma and pa spring for?I am sure saul and craig will mold you into a future bison.Keep that sippe cup full of bison koolaid.

Yes, UND won against Northern Iowa, and that was a great win for them. NDSU went in and beat #1 Montana when we were D-2. Anything can happen on a football field. Gene has suggested playing it before. He wants to play it under his circumstances.

Haha I am not happy to be on summer vacation, working for a farmer vs. getting A's. I would never be able to be a member of the Herd...5 foot 8. Too short for basketball, 150 pounds, too small for football. I am fully aware that I can have too much confidence in my team, but you guys are really fun to read up on. I love the Bison Kool-aid and it tastes damn good compared to that indian spirit water you fella's are drinking up north.

  5. Since when are we on equal ground with NDSU. NDSU has been DI playoff eligible since 2008, and UND has been DI playoff eligible since 2012 oh thats right 2012 hasn't come yet.

NDSU from 08 before playoff eligible would kick UND's ass, as well as current NDSU's ass. Just pointing that out. Im just pointing out that UND's team in transition is bball is not even close to what NDSU's was, thats all.

  6. Attendance does not win games. Yeah, NDSU football draws higher attendance numbers... so what? Football is the #1 sport on campus at NDSU, while it is the #2 sport on campus at UND. The Fargodome seating capacity is greater than the seating capacity of the Alerus Center, and the F/M area has roughly double the population of the GF/EGF area. Based on all of those factors, NDSU football SHOULD draw higher attendance than UND football. However, it does not give them any superiority whatsoever. Head-to-head matchups are where superiority is earned, and UND won 10 of the last 13 ever played including the last three in a row. Regarding your assumption that NDSU would "tear UND apart right now", if by right now you mean the 2010 season I will concede that you are probably right. We had a pitiful 3-8 season in 2010, but let's not have such short memories. In 2009 the Sioux would have probably torn apart that pitiful 3-8 Bison team had they played. But I think we both know that the better team on paper does not always win on the field, and the Bison are afraid to back up all of their obnoxious boasting. The "superiority in the region" that you make reference to exists only in the minds of myopic Bison fans. The way Bison fans talk about their team you'd think they had won every I-AA national championship since they first became playoff eligible and multiple D2 championships in the last decade they competed at that level, when in reality they just finally hosted their first ever playoff game at a nearly 20 year old venue. Most overrated program in all of college football at any level in my opinion. They were great in the 80's through 1990, but they've been pretty average since then. I'll concede that they had two great seasons during their transitional period, but with no playoff eligiblity those seasons were pretty much meaningless.

Omaha is bigger than Lincoln too.

The Sioux also would not have beaten that terrible 3-8 bison team. UND played a bad schedule. NDSU played a tough conference schedule(not unlike what the sioux will be playing in the BSC)

You telling me that the Sioux recruiting classes have been even close to what NDSU has gotten in the last 5 years?

In 2000, LaMar Gordon carried that team to a national semifinal in D-2, a game against a team with I think the same record(as usual too lazy to research), played on a mudpit. That game should have been in the dome.

Yes, two great regular seasons, another awesome playoff run. Those two great regular seasons were quite possibly two of the greatest bison seasons ever. Had we been eligible, NDSU may(or may not have, which is more likely) have won a national championship with a team that was handicapped by D-2 recruiting.

I hope that the University of North Dakota gets better in football, its almost sad seeing how much better the Herd is right now in most sports, the rivalry is much better when both teams are relatively close. It makes the games more fun when one of the teams wins 30-28 or 21-17. But right now, even from a football coach who loves the Sioux, says even when the Herd has had a couple rough years, UND hasn't been even close in talent to NDSU since the Nickel game quit being played.

  7. Like I said..............."assuming those programs continue to progress".

Yes the basketball team has a long ways to go...........but the team that NDSU played in December was not the same one that was playing in February and March.............just saying there is alot of talent there and alot of optimism.

UND's volleyball team kind of kicks ass too.................

The Bison who played in december was not the same one in March either. I just dont see a reason for this optomism, you should never be excited about a team that loses by 28 to a rival.

Hmmm......losing 70 of the last 71 to the Herd in volleyball sounds like they really kick ass.

  8. This.

They've been shooting off their mouths for so long now about how they think they're sooooooooooooooooooo much better than UND. They don't have the courage to actually go out there and make an attempt to back up all of that boasting. They know that they could lose just as easily as they could win, and that one loss would leave them with egg all over their faces. The funny thing is they lost the last three Sioux/Bison games ever played, yet they are the ones with the swelled heads.

NDSU would tear UND apart right now. Simple fact regarding the talent each team has. But if NDSU did lose, it'd hurt recruiting bad. Give us one reason we should give up all of our superiority in the region? Yeah, NDSU did lose the last three games they played to UND, but if you looked at the product each team has been putting on the field since then you'd see that their is a reason the dome puts 17-19 thousand asses in the seats and UND has 6-8 thousand.

  9. I wonder how many Bison fans would actually like UND to keep the name and somehow strike a deal with the NCAA to keep us off the sanctions list. My guess maybe 1 or 2.

I wouldn't mind if they kept it, we already got our chants ready then :p Now about the sanctions.........I wouldn't mind if you guys were America's Cuba.

  10. So basically in your opinion, the transition period of the reclassification process is regarded as a failure unless during that transition the reclassifying school defeats a high-major program or FBS football playing school in one of the revenue sports................

NDSU had a very positive transition experience and I give them credit. They are competetive in numerous sports in the Summit League and that is great.

But on the other hand I hope when North Dakota is 4 years removed from the transition, I hope that I don't have to continually cruise internet message boards and tout my favorite schools accomplishments during the transition so I can feel better about the 10-14 record that our football program has posted in conference play since the transition ended...................

While it would be alot of fun to beat an FBS program or high major men's basketball program so we could go to Bisonville to thump our chest and pat ourselves on the back, it is not a likely a scenario for any transitioning program.

Although "a few GWC titles" are not a big deal in the grand scheme of things, I'll still argue that North Dakota has done some positive things during the transition including turning around a dismal volleyball program, turning around a dismal men's basketball program, and securing conference affiliation.

Since you insist on speculating what may happen two years from now, to answer your question, IMO based on last season's results, I would say that volleball and men's basketball would have the best chance to compete for Big Sky titles when we join assuming that those programs continue to progress as they have.................

Ok that was a pretty good burn haha. But I don't know about your basketball team, when our middle of the road summit team outscores them by 28 in the second half, I have a hard time believing UND will be capable of a conference title. I think we swept them in volleyball but our team kind of kicks ass and I don't know if BSC has quality volleyball. Just remember, win in basketball or football and nothing else matters.

  11. Kid is messed up and I wonder how much Daddy "helping" and looking over his shoulder had to do with it. Hope he's getting help with his issues.

As far as where he goes, I don't know if anybody in the upper echelon would take a chance on him, but somebody like San Diego State or U of San Diego might take a flier...the upside could be worth the gamble for someone like that.

As far as Montana, even though the QB spot is wide open they already have Joe's boy from Notre Dame and a couple other guys who looked good in the spring game...I would rather pass on him unless he gets his head and grades in order and his Dad is banned from Missoula.

Joe's boy from Notre Dame wasn't even really in the running from what I heard, as an avid Notre Dame fan, let me tell you, he'd be lucky to play at UND

  12. Yes, I have. More than a few times.

Its easy to spout off on a message board about how good you think your team is. Talk is pretty cheap though and really means nothing. What tells it all though is when someone says how they are superior but than says they don't want to play the game. Your Minnesota example is pretty flawed as they have scheduled you 3 times, they even scheduled ndsu after they should have been beat twice. Doesn't seem like they are as concerned with the negative press as you want everyone to think. They say they are better and they are willing to prove it on the field. They aren't talking about what will happen if or when they get beat unlike yourself.

NDSU doesn't want to play the game because what is the point anymore? I want them to play, the school doesn't probably for several reasons no one has listed on here. I'd guess one of them being they don't want it to be an annual game, wasting a yearly game on UND instead of playing either a FBS or high-level FCS (Georgia Southern backed out, Stephen F. Austin, etc) is not something NDSU wants to commit to.

Another reason, NDSU has done much better job recruiting than UND, say all you want about the 3-8 season, that team just sucked, don't know why, and I dont really care, they were just bad. That was the type of team that could have lost to UND, I still think they would have beat UND by a couple touchdowns, but you never know I guess. A loss to UND could turn a lot of recruits up North.

Yet another reason, joking mostly, but why allow a game in the Alerus to sell-out? We all know the only way that UND puts more than 8 or 9 thousand in there right now is if the Herd comes. ;)

In all seriousness however, both schools have a lot going on now, UND will be playing a 9 game conference right? NDSU schedules an FBS, a cupcake(sometimes two), and usually an upper-middle tier team. Each school will probably publicly say they want to play(UND more than publicly) but it just isn't in the cards. One of the two schools has been down to play ever since NDSU's jump to D-1, just never at the same time. I'd like to see the game played, but the only way that it probably happens is if UND cries to the Legislature to force it ;) or if they both qualify in the playoffs, in which case, I'd like to welcome you to the Fargodome. Don't get too offended when all you hear for 3 hours is Sioux Suck !@#$.

  13. Well ndsu must think its a big deal because they gave out conference championship rings to the team that won the Great West. They made kind of a big deal about it.

I do not speak for NDSU, I speak for myself. And if your team wins a conference title in football, and you finish super high ranked, what else can you do I guess. Remember, the fans and the school are seperate entities.

  14. How many conference titles did NDSU win during their transition and how many has the Sioux won. Thats really the only way to compare the two. And since its just the GWFC, and GWC...who cares.

The Great West was a bit different then. SDSU was there, we were there. And in a conference with 5 teams or whatever it was, we scheduled several FBS teams and did pretty dang good against them. I think we are 4-2 now against FBS, during our transition we were 3-1 I believe. I don't care about winning conference titles when it is not getting you into the playoffs, I care more about the product on the field. Tell me, is UND going to finish with the #1 National Ranking in one of the next couple years?

  15. Like thyme or rosemary? How could he not! They add so much to your favorite dish!

Rather than herbs, I like adding supplementary dairy products, like Creme Fraiche.

    www.southparkstudios.com/clips/360883/cafeteria-fraiche

  16. Agree with this wholeheartedly. UND needs to get experienced quickly at a number of positions -- and you can add RB now -- and the abysmal 2011 schedule may be just what's needed. Interesting to see if Garman will play as a true freshman.

On another note, I caught the news today when I tuned in briefly -- first time in months -- to the noon sports show on 740 in Fargo. Don't know who the host was. Unfortunately, he announced the hour would be "wall to wall" NDSU pimping but interrupted the schedule to "break the news" of Murray's dismissal at UND -- all in a celebratory tone and repleat with sound effects. Heard a little of McFeeley yesterday on 790 as well, ranting about the Douple story and asking why Grand Forks media wasn't digging up the details of Kristo's injury. He went on to broadly infer, on the air, that Kristo was drunk. What a vindictive, classless organization Radio Fargo-Moorhead seems to have become ... but maybe its a stipulation of the contract with the AC.[/quote]

If a school you do not like loses a good player you will probably celebrate? I guess maybe you are above that and NDSU is the only group of people that will smile about stuff like that. As for saying Forgo-Moorhead Radio is classless and vindicative, it should be known that every single person I know who goes to UND, around 20 or so, were talking at a party about how funny it was that Kristo got drunk and got frostbite(or something along those lines). I assume Fargo-Moorhead media are the only people who might infer that it is believed that Kristo was "injured" while taking a nap in a snowbank while drunk.

However, yes, not necessarily bad for UND to lose a senior runningback in a meaningless season. Gets the younger guys ready to go.

  17. I'm sorry but I have to disagree. The Alerus was probably just fine for Div.2 playoffs, but we're moving up to Div. 1 and I guarantee attendance will skyrocket to new records within the first season of the Big Sky. As far as the facilities are concerned they are virtually non-existant, I work out at the Wellness Center on campus everyday and notice that is where the majority of the football, basketball, and most other sports teams work out at at (hockey is the exception). The Wellness Center is very nice and has decent equipment but it's not going to help sign high end recruits. We are a very proud institution and have high expectations for the future, we need a strong strategic plan on where we are going, how long it will take to get there, and what the students, faculty, alumni, and fans can do to get there faster.

While attendence should go up, UND will need to win, right away if they want "new records" in the Alerus, it would be very hard to warrant a new stadium if you don't sellout each and every game for years., I don't think athletes use the Wellness Center, at least at NDSU they aren't allowed to for team workouts, I'd assume UND is the same and has seperate facilities. The basketball arena for UND is the Betty right? Its very nice in there and people just aren't going right now. I do not think you should complain about the REA considering it is considered one of the best hockey facilities in the nation. Just cause something doesn't hold 100,000 people. Ever heard of Cameron Indoor? Where the mothertruckin' DUKE BLUE DEVILS play, it holds at most 10,000. Great atmosphere and fans. The REA holds something around 11 or 12,000 correct? Sounds like what a hockey game should be holding if you want everyone to have a decent/good seat.

Back onto topic, sorry for the rant. Guys like Tate Forcier don't come to places like NDSU or UND. That douche will think he is tough and transfer to some other school where he wont play or he will wise up and end up at Montana, they have that reputation of getting those guys and have a fantastic program right now.

  18. I'm talking about an amendment to the North Dakota constitution.

The NCAA would be exposing themselves to intense condemnation, paramount to fascism, if they chose to discriminate against UND on the level of Constitutional law.

You think they care? How intense of condemnation? Some people in North Dakota and Minnesota send them some e-mails? Are 'Bama, USC, Texas, Oklahoma, Duke, or Carolina fans going to care that UND has been forced to change nickname or whatever even though a State law(which is yet to be determined if it is Constitutional yet) says that UND must keep their name?

  19. One thing I question is that what came first? The nickname or the rule. Since the NCAA had no problem with the nickname prior to 2005 questions whether they can tell the school to "break the law". UND has been the Fighting SIoux since the 30's the policy is 6 years old shouldn't the name trump the new policy. UND should be "grandfathered" in.

It is tough to get grandfathered in considering how many schools are really joining the NCAA nowadays? A few NAIA schools every now and then? How many of them will have Native American nicknames? Essentially the policy would be nothing. mikejm hit the nail on the head when he said membership is voluntary/

  20. I always appreciate you interest in Fighting Sioux athletics Dan. And since you pay so close attention to what goes on here and always have an opinion than you should know how much our teams have improved over the transition. Has it always been pretty? No it hasn't. I guess I would be concerned if we weren't beating these worst of the worst teams. That hasn't been the case. We have been beating those teams and than some and improvement has been happening. Now with a nice conference, arguably the most impressive schedules of all the Dakota schools, and a lot of youth that has gained a lot of experience the last couple of years, things are headed in the right direction.

Arguably is right. You can't say the BSC is tougher than the MVC/Summit. Pretty much the same, although BSC usually has at least one really good football team, this year two teams, and a lot of bottom dwellers. MVC usually has several good teams, maybe one or two really good ones. Summit is rated higher in basketball right now, but that can change in a heartbeat. But in all sports, NDSU can say that they probably had a better transition than UND is having, or at this point can even hope to have. It should be noted however, that NDSU did get lucky and had their best basketball team ever by far, and landed a ton of great recruits for football somehow just as the transition was starting up.

  21. Why would we care about lakes on our board.I know he is your hero and you worship him.If I were you I would ask ma and pa's opinion on him.I think they will tell you to stay clear of him because a major breakdown will ultimately occur. The self professed greatest bison fan. can't attend a home game and in banned from the sports forum.Go back to the forums of your rivals. You guys are to good to associate with us.Go to the bunny and coyote boards where you belong.

sorry bro, I didn't refresh my browser or something happened where I didn't see that the discussion had went toward Stenejem. He is not my hero though at all, I'm just saying people let him get under their skin too much. He is the biggest Bison fan I think you'll ever find, just uhh....thinks college athletics are bigger than they are.

  22. I know that Lakes rubs some people, well, everyone, even including Bison fans, the wrong way. But from what I hear anyways on BV, when he isn't hiding behind a computer, he is a nice guy who is just a little bit *too intense about things like NDSU which indirectly includes UND. So while everyone will acknowledge he is a tool online, he as a person apparently is not one. Just kind of a 40 year old body with a 13 year old brain anytime anything Bison or Sioux gets brought up.

    * asterisk with the bold font included denotes sarcasm.

  23. Strength of Schedule is a super fast super easy way to look at if you played a good schedule. It is flawed pretty badly if you really look at it. Say UND plays against a team like Robert Morris, a team that does well in a terrible conference, their strength of schedule shows a win against 9-2 team when in all actuality, RM sucks.

However, it is interesting to see the SOS's of each team. Thanks for pulling up those figures.
