  1. What's funny is an interim AD signed the contract that Gene wouldn't before he left. One could make an argument that Gene wanted to leave it up to the new AD to make the decision but that wasn't even the case. The new AD got told he was playing UND when he arrived. :0

The contract was in its final stages when Gene left. It was drawn up while Gene was still there. It just wasn't signed before he left because it wasn't compelety finished. Another few weeks and it would've been signed by him.
  2. Faison didn't make a single comment to the media until he was reached out to after Taylor made comments about the game to Izzo. But revisionist's history is a prerequisite at Fargo U, so no surprise you don't have a clue.

Your dear leader ran to the media when he first took the AD job and told Gene via the herald "we're ready to play, so let's play". Which Gene responded "a phone call would be nice first". Brian called which was reported on then the pressure through the media and even the legislature was applied. Gene sent a contract in response and Faison whined to the herald about it not being the way he wanted it. Of course it's all Gene's fault but yet both games are being played in Fargo.

  3. Do you really think Gene offered that and was intending on signing it? You're not that dumb. Remember when he changed his own offer with no counter offer in between?

The game got signed literally months after he left. Think about it.

The contract was on Faisons desk for a home and home with a year in between. Media boy Faison ran to the herald and turned it down because it had to be an annual game. It's not a conspiracy like many of you like to believe. The contract that your dear leader finally signed was nearly finalized when Gene left for Iowa. Sit down with Brian and ask him about it. Your Gene theory will be deflated in a hurry. Why would he turn down a home and home a year apart yet finally agree to both in Fargo 4 years apart? Faison thought he had some leverage and quickly found out he didn't. He ran to the media with it and then had to try and save face. He's not a good decision maker.
  4. Maybe it was part of the deal when Gene Taylor kept moving goalposts to get the series restarted. It could have been part of the contract that Gene let sit on his desk. After all , according to your athletic dept this is just another game to fill the schedule.

Let's not leave out the fact that Faison kept turning down Genes offers and finally settled for the worst one. I believe the first offer was an every other year game with the first one being played in Fargo and the second was to be played in Grand Forks. But of course it's all NDSU and Gene's fault. Look at your half wit althletic director for the delay. He finally caves and takes a 2 game contract both in Fargo. You have quite the leadership up running your athletic department.
  5. So.... Thanks to FU's complete ineptitude, both universities get punished if this goes thru.

The sponsor of the bill said its was perfectly legal what ndsu did. It was the piss ant whining that UND did that screwed everyone.

  6. I understood BF's first offer because UND needed to fill 7 OOC games in the GWFC, playing NDSU every year helps that, every other year helped a little. When UND joined the BSC and we only needed to fill 3 OOC games I see where GT came from however playing every year and an FBS game means 1 game per season to fill with over 100 DI teams to choose from. UND has had 2 teams back out but it was early in the GWFC days and no scheduling problems recently as we need only 3 games to fill in the next 4 years. NDSU has had a few teams backout, MSU being very recent, and has scheduling problems almost every year (Ferris St being recent). Home and Home series solves that, and if there is a big buyout clause in case someone backs out at least you get a big chunk of change in your pocket. 6 home games are nice but when you lower yourself to DII teams as your 6th home game...that's pathetic, especially when that could've been filled with a team an hour away. BF is thinking big picture (H/H) that fills 2015 and 2017 for UND's schedule that would mean UND has no empty spots until 2018 (one open spot), GT's offer of 2015 at Fargo works, 2017 at Fargo doesn't work as UND would have 4 home games that year instead of 5, and that one game in 2015 at Fargo is fine, but that fills 2015 and does nothing to fill 2017. The more seasons you fill the better or else you could get stuck calling schools in the DII, DIII, or NAIA directory.

The tickets sell at NDSU. Ferris State may be pathetic but it still sells out every time. If MSU doesn't pull a !@#!$ so late in the year a lower level school doesn't happen. The fact is NDSU is filling the schedule with 6 home games and selling out the dome within hours of going on sale to the public. UND wants NDSU to give them special scheduling treatment just because they're UND. Well unfortunately right now UND isn't a conference mate and they are currently just another OOC scheduling option. If you don't like the offer for a OOC game then don't sign but if you choose not to sign suck it up and quit the whining.

NDSU wants their 6 home games. The FB home games are their bread and butter just like hockey home series for UND. If UND hockey only had 6 home games a year I highly doubt they'd be willing to entertain very many offers that would cause a 5 game home schedule.

Take the one game payout. Everyone knows it wouldn't end there. One game will lead to many more. I wish Faison would've thought about that with Taylor's first offer how many years ago. We'd probably talking about who beat who already instead of who's dodging who over and over again.

  7. I found something odd. GT and the Bison fans need 6 home games, plus that precious FBS game for $$$$. 2015 there is NO FBS game. 2009 they had 5 home games.

    2015 OOC:

    @ Montana

    vs Weber St

    Open

    2009:

    @ Iowa State

    @ SHSU (part of H/H)

    vs Wagner

So if NDSU is so strapped for cash why no FBS in 2015, and why sign a home and home in an 11 game season like they did with SHSU? I know because games were hard to get in the GWFC. THAT IS THE REASON FAISON WANTED TO PLAY THE BISON EVERY YEAR!!!!

SHSU travelled to Fargo first during NDSUs transition. You may remember Steve Walker connecting with Kole Heckendorf for the game winning TD pass late in the 4th against Rhett Bomar. That contract was made when NDSU was still in the Great West and needed OOC games. When the SHSU contract was signed UND was still in the scheduling refusal mode with NDSU. The season ticket holders were upset about only having 5 home games in 2009 but Gene wouldn't buy out of the contract because SHSU helped them out.

A 2015 FBS game hasn't been scheduled yet but I'd be willing to bet one gets scheduled soon enough.

I get that this is a UND site and everything GT does is evil but may I ask why aren't you guys upset with BF for rejecting GTs first offer? Those games wouldve already been played and the days of this same old pissing match would've been long over.

  8. REALLY - you have nothing better to do than sit at your computer and post on the site of another school and try to defend FU - isn't it funny that every time the light is turned on behind the scenes at FU - the cockroaches scatter - President overspends millions and leaves in shame, student athletes arrested in the bleachers, flashing at the mall, shoplifting.. the list goes on. Why don't you stop wasting time here and go do some of the community service that your former players failed to complete.

If I'm not mistaken, UND's president overspent as well. I believe we also read in the newspaper not to long ago about a UND player beating an RA unconcious while intoxicated. Lets not forget the incident of the UND player holding a knife to his ex-girlfriends throat.

Keep pointing fingers and act like there's none pointing back. All schools and programs have issues.

  9. I'll buy off on your laundry list of excuses except for the first one.

Everyone was running at the DII number. Could it be that it was a coaching issue with the scholarship-athletes they got?

I didn't mean it that way I apologize. IMO NDSU was used to having the luxury of having more scholly money than alot of the other D2 schools in the day. When the NCAA reduced the maximum number they didnt have the luxury of that extra money to throw around. They struggled to adapt.

Look at it as excuses. I'm just trying to explain as to why it wasn't pure arrogance as some like to think.

  10. You don't think so?

No I don't. Combo of reduced D2 scholarships, university president less than excited about athletics, mistake of an AD and a coach unwilling to adapt to the new playing field.

Not discrediting anything UND did in the 90's and early 2000's. They had some good teams no doubt. Thomas started a good thing and Lennon capitalized off of it.

There were many factors that led to NDSU falling stagnant. I guess to some its only arrogance but I think those opinions may be skewed by their hatred for the others program and school.

  11. It was their arrogance after a long run of success that doomed them then and will now. Just wait for it. Not next year but in the next few they will gradually get fat and happy.

    Wow...

  12. If I understood correctly... I think what he has saying was that when the teams were evenly matched on paper the head-to-head matchups were mostly won by UND. The only time NDSU was able to win the Nickel Trophy game year-in and year-out was during a period of time when UND was a middle of the pack team in the NCC. So, basically in years when the Bison had a great team and the Sioux had a mediocre team the Bison would win. In years when both teams were good the Sioux would win.

Is that what you were saying, SIOUXFAN97?

Actually David the records don't exactly tell the whole story. NDSU wasn't even close to being evenly matched with UND until the early 60's. NDSU was half the size and had half the budget that UND had. Once NDSU became funded and developed as a university did the two schools become evenly matched.

UND fans have a hard time understanding that before the 60's UND had the lions share of the attention and support from the state. NDAC was just an after thought scrambling for the table scraps.

If those all time records against NDSU makes you all warm and fuzzy inside about UND right now then keep staring at them. It obviously helps Wayne Nelson...Haha. Fact is that the majority of those wins were against a small ag college with hardly a pot to piss in back before most of us were even born.

  13. So you come on this board to call me out on talking smack about NDSU? I chuckle how the people on BVille can call me names, smack my team, but yet come on this board and do the same thing. You give us a chuckle there buddy....at least UND fans don't threaten people from other fan bases...NDSU is known for that. (LAKES!!).

I do believe a Gopher fan ended up in the hospital after a Hockey game in GF. I don't think that has happened in Fargo. No video shots of NDSU fans flipping off opposing teams players, or puching holes in walls at arena's either, it goes both ways. Every fanbase has their idiots. Nice bailout by bringing Lakes into the conversation BTW.

You are the Lakes of UND on the internet. Just not aggressive like stupid Sam. You called out NDSU fans for talking smack and having nothing better to do when I can find your name all over the web doing the exact same thing. I just found it funny that you would even type something like that and not even think about the stuff that you have posted in the past.

  14. Really...how many NDSU threads have I started here? Keep trolling.

I could compile quite a list of NDSU smack from you on AGS, CS.com, Bison Media Blog (yes, we all know you post there), and this website. You may not have started some of those threads but it's all over the web.

I shouldn't have posted that comment but it gave me a good chuckle at work. You say other people will talk smack and that they have nothing better to do. I thought you were explaining yourself there for a second.

  15. It's good to see NDSU fans acknowledging UND isn't a creampuff anymore  What does the 12th game have to do with the coach (I really don't know)? Does Bohl just not want a 12 game season?

The risk is too great. He has stated that the conference schedule alone is enough to prepare for the playoffs. He frequently calls it a meat grinder. I've heard him say he'd take the extra week off to rest and prepare over the potential for profit and experience gained with a 12th game.
  16. If you looked at the post I was responding to, my post gave him exactly what he wanted in a schedule plus an annual rivalry game with UND. He said that besides conference games he wanted an FCS creampuff game, an FBS game, and wanted to play some games against other FCS teams for a little variety. That's exactly what I outlined. The only thing it doesn't give you is a guaranteed 6 home games each year. He didn't ask for that. My scenario would give NDSU at least 6 home games most years. There would be 5 once in a while, and may be 7 once in a while. But even playing UND every other year isn't going to guarantee that NDSU would have 6 home games each year. And as we saw again this year, NDSU will have trouble finding schools to come to North Dakota some years, as will UND. So trying to follow the "magic" formula that you refer to isn't a guarantee that you will get what you want either.

Gene Taylor has already hinted that the Prairie View $200,000 game is getting really close to the cap that they can afford. He has talked of scheduling alliances between conferences allowing fans to see a variety of opponents. An ideal schedule would be in one year having a cream puff, FBS and a FCS power conference team. With the following year having a cream puff, FBS and UND. NDSU fans want 6 home games now but we all know it can't continue. 6 home games are what the fans want right now and that is what he has been able to do so far and it has been working well. A 12th game isn't going to happen while Craig Bohl is head coach both he and Taylor have publicly stated that many times. That is why I said that NDSU isn't going to be very willing to change that formula too much.

You guys are trying so hard to talk yourselves into not wanting this game. Sioux suck chants during the nat'l championship, Sioux suck chants when you returned from the nat'l championship, Sioux suck chants at home games. Hell I was at a wedding last weekend in Dickinson of a former Bison player and a Sioux suck chant broke out at the end of the dance. Your post should read that there are not many of the 50 regulars on B'ville who want an annual game, there are more than plenty that want it to happen but are nervous of the outcome.

I don't know too many that don't want this game. Just not as frequently as you guys do. If we play in the same conference again then we can play annually. You guys want to change everything that NDSU has been doing scheduling wise and expect everyone to be ok with it. NDSU fans are trying to say that we'll play you but you aren't going to tell us how we are going to go about doing that. If you don't like our offer we will look elsewhere. This isn't the DII days when this was a must for both schools budgets. UND now has their big named conference teams coming to GF and NDSU has thier big named conference teams coming to Fargo.
  17. You gotta give Faison credit, though, for sticking to his guns and demanding what the fans truly want -- and that is to see the great rivalry played out every year. Don't get me wrong, I will take every other year, but it wouldn't be my first choice.

I don't discredit him for doing what he thinks is best for his football program. Just as UND fans shouldn't discredit Taylor for doing what he thinks is best for his. What Faison has been demanding is what UND fans truly want. There aren't many NDSU fans that truly want an annual game right now. I respect your first choice but many of us don't agree with it.

Eleven game schedule. Four home games in conference. Four games on the road in conference. One FCS cupcake at home (not likely to schedule as a home and home). One FBS game on the road (also not likely to be home and home). Game against UND alternating between home and away. The years of 12 game schedules you add another home game, or use those years to schedule home and homes with other FCS. Accomplishes everything you just stated that you wanted. And it wasn't that difficult to figure out. I'll take every other year if we have to, but would still prefer every year to build on the rivalry.

What you are forgetting in all of this is that the people who attend FB games at NDSU don't want the scenario you laid out. Yes, it is easy to make it happen but its not easy to tell people who want one thing that they are going to do another. NDSU has a formula that they prefer to follow and as of right now it seems to be working quite well for them. I don't see them changing too much of that anytime soon.
  18. Actually what I would really like to see is UND be able to host a playoff game next year. It would be really neat if UND's opponent at the Alerus was NDSU. I wouldn't be surprised to see that happen. It would serve NDSU right the way they have delayed getting this game going for so mny years.

The first game would've been played already if Faison hadn't refused the every other year offer that Taylor sent him. Now we have to wait until 2015 for the first game that is the same every other year plan that was first offered by NDSU.
  19. NDSU sold out two regular season games last season. They didn't even sell out the first playoff game.

Edit: there attendance numbers are so random vs. their capacity its hard to tell what they call a sellout. Two appeared to be. But if those were sellouts than all three playoff games were not.

The playoff games were sold out. They had to eliminate seats for the TV crews and some of the tickets weren't included in the total. I was told the number announced was the total that the public paid.
  20. I believe they are required to have the funds committed before they can start. A lot of changes were made to the rules regarding capital projects after the NDSU President's House Presidential Mansion fiasco...

Actually that rule was in place before both UND and NDSU's Presidents houses went over budget.

  21. The public may not fix the problem, they may make it worse. Which is just what you would like to have happen. A lot of people can have 20/20 vision when looking at the past. And as I said earlier, you and your friends seem to like to point fingers and assign blame. That isn't helping, as a matter of fact it gets in the way. If you want to be of assistance you can make some suggestions to solve the problem now (not 20 years ago). Otherwise maybe you should just go play with all the rest of your little pals.

The public may make it worse but the problem will be fixed one way or another. I am not the type that gets a thrill watching this disaster. I wanted this name dropped a long time ago. I do not want this to continue on after June I assure you. You and your friends have been pointing fingers and blaming everyone for a very long time. Some are still blaming he NCAA and Al Carlson without mentioning themselves. Now that you have painted yourselves into a corner you start telling others to quit pointing fingers and assigning blame?
