  1. Regarding Triple header weekends:

It is already tough getting rooms inn GF on those weekends.

I am in Fargo and have season hockey tickets. I drive up for every home game and that is always a tough weekend to save one round trip.

  2. REA to cut beer sizes and raise prices for 2010-11 season

A Ralph Engelstad Arena official, speaking on condition of anonymity, revealed that another beverage size and price adjustment was in the works for next season. The two tap beer sizes will change to 12 ounces and 8 ounces, with a price tag of 12 dollars and 8 dollars, respectively.

  3. 1 of every 3 Spirit Lake members voted against the nickname. 1 in 3! Vast majority! LOL!

We'll see what Standing Rock votes, if they have a vote in time.

But this fantasy about 90+% support is such a joke.

If you want to set back your athletic department 5-10 years because 60% of people support the nickname, then I'm glad you do don't get to make the decisions at UND!

Funny, 2 of 3 is more than the "Landslide public vote" that Obama won by.

Barack Obama Democratic Illinois 69,456,897 52.92%

John McCain Republican Arizona 59,934,814 45.66%

  4. Then you don't deal with them. Sorry, that's how I view it.

You don't get an excuse to be lazy and slow just because you claim that it's your culture. You get left out of the deal, if that be the case!

I wonder if the state said they had 1 month to make a decision about a casino if they'd tell the state they need a year to think about it because that's their culture? Doubt it. Amazing how when something is a priority it can be sped up!

We'd buy them off but you would get mad at us.

  5. I think the "U" could have had him this year if Lucia's contract was closer to ending. After next year Blais has way less motivation to leave UNO. His third year team at UNO will no doubt be poised to go deep in the NCAAs and he will have a LOT more invested there. This season he was away a bunch and easily could have been persuaded to come home.

I agree. WJC took him away for a big chunk of the middle of the year. with a full season with his team he will do well in the WCHA this year. 5-7 place finish is my prediction.

  6. Perhaps Blaiser actually LIKES the city of Omaha, and the situation at UNO. He will be back in the WCHA, in a 16,000 seat arena. Sounds like Trev Alberts is running a nice program down there.

In his interview with Hammer aired on Monday, he said he took the position thinking 3 or 4 more years and he'd be done coaching. He sees a lot of potential so he decided to give it some more time.

Why would you go from UNO with any improvement up to expectations to UMN where anything less than a NC in the first three years is a failure at this point in his career.

  7. hak mentioned yesterday that a couple of players did not have good summers last year I wonder if Fienhage was one of those he was referencing.

It was made very public on BMT season 2 that gleason was out of shape and took some catching up so I bet he was one of them.

  8. It was in the paper that Faison or Kelley was quoted saying that the Summit will meet in June and if UND isn't ready by then they will be skipped over for the 2012 season. Something along those lines, I'm sure someone will correct me with the exact details.

Is saving the Sioux nickname worth throwing the 2012-13 non-football/non-hockey schedules away? Nope.

The Nickname is worth something and if those programs can field independant schedules, why not they are not playoff eligible anyway.

You still didn't answer the other question of why do you care?

  9. Hockey is not a major sport nationwide, the facts are all over on that.

My thoughts as an avid basketball man. Horizon League has Butler and to some extent UW Milwaukee that are really really good programs, after that UW Green Bay, Valpo.. etc etc.

Id Say Horizon is here ------ and Summit is just slightly below _____. Summit is improving every year. ORU and IUPUI and OAKLAND are 3 tough teams, with NDSU and SDSU picking up much better athletes in recruiting, thats 5 teams that are very even and provide solid basketball and coaching. whereas, everyone in the horizon is chasing butler.

Curious what the penalties are going to be against IUPUI? Not digging just wondering if they have announced the full details of the punishment?

  10. Other than Butler, the Summit is just as good as the Horizon.

I also don't expect hockey fans to get bball season tickets. But believe it or not, not every UND fan is a UND hockey fan (I know, shocking).

No but hockey sure pays it's share of bills.

From the Sioux Hockey 2010-2011 thread page 4:

I can't find the numbers I am looking for, but according to figures reported to the US Dept of Education for the '08-09 school year (latest available) compare UND with OSU:

    CODE

Men's Hockey / Total Revenue / Total Expense /Net "profit"

    UND / $3,596,366 / $2,075,293 / $1,521,073

    OSU / $1,051,923 /$2,363,322 / <$1,311,399>

  11. They need a decision by June.

By the way, where is the ND supreme court decision?

The Supreme court decision is 4-6 weeks out.

June is your time line for the summit. Not stated by any summit officials. The NCAA adn the University agreed on Nov.

Also you didn't answer the question of, Why do you Care? from above. You are in Mpls? It's nothing to do withyour tax dollars?

  12. As someone who listens to RFM on a regular basis this doesn't make me happy at all. But on the bright side, if WDAY pickup up UND, perhaps the Forum will put the FB and HKY teams on the front page more than only when they lose.

I hope they don't go to the Flag.

This also means that Hammer will be doing Bison FB Games as rummored I Bet.

  13. More importantly, I think Frattin is extremely grateful to Hak for the opprtunity to play again...no way he leaves IMO.

I think he will be UND's best forward next year and I don't think it'll be close.

For the teams sake i hope you are wrong.

That said #8 is my wish and I think with that Trio up front and Knight finished playing strong and hard we can have three tough lines up front.

That said 199 days until we open the new arena in Bemidji according to the "Days Until" App on my phone.

  14. Disappointing end to the season, but like most of you, I'm already excited for next year. Aside from the obvious, like conference titles, etc., I've put together a list of things I hope will happen for next season, in no particular order. If my wishes all come true, I think we hang another green banner...add your wishes for next season!

    1. Frattin stays on the path he has put himself on and doesn't leave for Toronto. The man will be a beast next year.

    2. Brad Miller Time season 3

    3. Chay Genoway overcomes his post-concussion syndrome and plays hockey again...I don't care where.

    4. Blood stays, Gregoire stays, Malone stays.

    5. A pair of these for Joe Gleason (ignore the first picture)

    6. The Ralph continues moving toward being the most difficult place to play in the country for opposing teams, if it isn't already.

    7. Two extra home games in mid-March.

He was a beast this year already once he got comfortable again.

  15. I just rewatched the F5 champ game yesterday and I was wondering with the tone of the third period if they already knew. Comments like "Ill be talking to you long into the summer months Muzzy." and "this has been a longer season than most for us" I thought just may have been towards a rough season but maybe just all together them being done.

An institution but Woog was starting to lose it mentally during longer games.

Good guys and Lots of memories growing up for me there. Thanks to them Both.

  16. I'm extremely disappointed with Schroeder this season. I picked the guy at the beginning to be among the candidates for player of the year....instead his buddy Barribal gets hurt and he doesn't do anything the entire season. I couldn't believe that the empty net goal that he scored on UND was only his ninth goal of the season. Probably one of the more talked about recruits coming to the University of Minnesota, and other than his rookie season I would probably call his career a bust.

I agree with a previous poster, it was nice that he only put his whole heart into the world junior tournament, and not into WCHA play. Hey, the USA won gold, and to top it off, the gophers didn't make the final five!

You are comparing a two years you know. Some may say Soph. Slump. I think no Stoa hurt him.

  17. I can't blame him, hell if I was him I would have done the same thing. I doubt the Gophers will be righting the ship anytime soon, get out while you can, make some serious cash doing what you love.

Anyone who says, 'No way! I would stay and try to help the program I grew up watching.' is so full of it I bet my computer would smell just from displaying that S***.

It's too much money gauranteed and no parent would let their kid go out for another year, score 13 fewer pts for the second year in a row, and hurt their income potential even more.

  18. I suppose Michigan is anxious to get in a quality goalie recruit after Campbell bailed on them.

I never understood the Patterson situation. Lucia talked about that during the pre-season, saying he would split their time more evenly this year, and that never happened (33gp for Kangas, 8gp for Patterson). And it's not like Patterson played poorly or anything like that. Must be frustrating for him.

Even at UND we have seen a coach throw his saddle on his horse and have a real tough time making the change. It's not an easy thing to do, and yes i can totally understand why Patterson would leave.

  19. I was at Friday's game only, and the crowd seemed pretty good. Those of you who were there both last night and Friday.......how did the 2 nights compare?

Last night was nearly electric the entire time. After killing off the Major the crowd was on fire. I think it was intellegent cheer as well. PK was applauded and so were smart defensive and offensive efforts. There was a lul about 10 min in the first but, Malone did a great job of being a one man wrecking crew and keeping the crowd interested. That I think kept the crowd from going to sleep like Saturday.

  20. direct tv 658 it says on my program list.

gophers are my team, (i was hoping for 6-0 both nights and get this season over with, because if the gophers lose tonight, all they did was get our hopes up!)

but im not an idiot, und should win. The home ice in a deciding game is key. dont' ya think?

stupid question #3, can they sell beer on a sunday? or is that just a stupid minnesota law.

Absolutely we have beer on sundays in ND. You do in MN as well just not offsale of full content beers and liquors. I know this because I have enjoyed a few finer cool bevies at the HHH watching the vikes.
