Does St Cloud have a banner for  "Weeks at #1" or is this a banner producing event?

Unfortunately since SCSU is on the road this weekend the banner may be obsolete by the time we unveil it.

No matter, it'll look nice next to the participation ribbons.

Anyone know how long the line was?

Had a friend who got in line at 7:45 and said there were only 75 people in front of him.  He said if you rolled up at 8:45 or even 9 you'd have been fine, but they did obviously sell out so I'm sure some people who showed up late got denied.

Sean Ritchlin has a video of the line on twitter.

And 5 of their top 6 scorers or something like that... Not that I could name who they were...

They lost all 6 of their top scorers, 5 to graduation and Patrick Russell signed.  Lindgren also signed.

  4. Best of luck gentlemen. SCSU was thoroughly outplayed by UND in St. Cloud so I'm not terribly hopeful for my guys. I know UND fans are worried about inconsistency but I have watched nearly every Sioux game and every Husky game this season. I can assure you SCSU has been even more inconsistent.

On the other hand, if SCSU doesn't get at least one win this weekend they can pretty much cash in for the year. Bob better have them pumped.

I considered briefly making a DaveK-esque troll post, but I actually have some modicum of self-respect, at least as much as an SCSU fan can.

Sioux Falls or Fargo every year! No more Xcel Energy Center! Who couldnt want that.

Maybe it's spreading the fan bases too thin, but having the "Midwest" regional at the X and the "West" regional in Fargo or Sioux Falls would be ideal.  UND as host saves whichever location they bid, Minnesota as host won't make the tournament, but they can always throw some combination of Duluth, SCSU, Mankato to the Xcel and it won't be as bad as the typical Midwest regional.

Doesn't matter where they put that Midwest regional, it's always abysmal attendance wise.  Cinci, Toledo, Grand Rapids, it matters not which teams qualify, no one goes.  The committee has bent over backwards to make sure Notre Dame, Miami, or Michigan is placed in those cities and attendance is only nominally up in those years.

Hey all - I have two tickets to both nights games (Fri: Sec 204 Row 7 Seat 15/16 & Sat: Sec 204 Row 7 Seat 1/2). My wife had an uncle pass away up north so we won't be able to make it (second year running, last year was ACL surgery...starting to think the SCSU trip is bad luck). Looking for $25 ($35 face value). Please PM or text me at 701.610.6735 if interested. I can dropoff the physical tickets if you're in the Forks area or get you the reprint/scan tickets from SCSU if you live elsewhere. Unfortunately SCSU is in the stone age so I can't just relist them on ticketmaster. :)

That is because the Goofs choked away 3rd period leads. If we can get some pucks into the net and then not blow the leads, we will do fine.

To be fair, SCSU has done their share of choking away 3rd period leads as well.  They were up 3-1 both nights against Duluth and lost both games 5-3, with an ENG icing it for Duluth both nights.

I do agree that goaltending is the biggest weakness for SCSU.  I think SCSU could be very good on the back end come March, but the D is very young and has been exposed multiple times this year.  Despite all the losses to going pro and graduation, the offense has generally held their own.

Listening to the radio broadcast of the U of M and SCSU game, It's really pathetic to listen to these guys try to make excuses for the gophers.

The FSN broadcast was even better. Doug calls a decent game but the back to back comebacks were even more enjoyable with Gopher homers on the TV call.

  9. I guess I assumed they stayed overnight at least one night but I guess it would make sense that they would bus up in the morning and then leave after the game. I see where you're coming from now.

Not that anyone is really concerned, but I can confirm that this is the case.  SCSU pushed to make it a home-and-home with Minnesota every other year instead of a home series with Minnesota once every four years.

Year One: Play Minnesota in first round of North Star Cup (No other series with Minnesota)
Year Two: No North Star Cup (Home-and-home with Minnesota)
Year Three: Play BSU/UMD/MSUM in first round of North Star Cup (Series at Minnesota)
Year Four: Play BSU/UMD/MSUM in first round of North Star Cup (Home-and-home with Minnesota)

  10. would seem odd but I suppose, guessing this is an ncaa decision. Appears host teams have had the late game in the past.

This is correct.  The NCHC might choose to protect the top overall seed in the Frozen Faceoff (although they didn't last year when UND played the night game and SCSU failed to qualify), but I doubt the NCAA cares about such things.  I'd imagine UND will be in the late game at Scheels Arena, but who knows?

"It's purely to keep bracket integrity," NCHC commissioner Josh Fenton said. "Typically in these situations, you want to protect the higher seeds and let them play in a situation where they have the best advantage.

"North Dakota is the No. 1 seed in the tournament and is playing to keep the No. 1 overall seed in the national tournament. This (game time) provides them with more rest than (lower seeds) Miami and Denver will have on Saturday.

"This is something that the coaches and athletic directors talked about at our annual meeting last spring in Florida," Fenton said. "They voiced strongly that they wanted to protect the higher seeds, and I don't disagree."

  12. He's out for a couple of weeks. Lower-Body injury I heard.

Prochno is out this weekend and likely a few more weekends to come. He should be the only injury for SCSU going into the weekend.

So far, SCSU's top 4 D-men (including Prochno) have pretty much played every game with some combination of Storm, Rabey, and Nevalainen taking the final two spots. With Prochno out, expect all 3 of the aforementioned guys to play this weekend.
