  1. Of course the "ND" logo seems uninspiring... That is because it came after the SIOUX gear that was very inspiring. You don't hear Oklahoma fans or North Carolina fans call their interlocking letter logos uninspiring. That's because its is the main logo they have been using for quite some time. I don't care if you've moved on from the Sioux name or not, that merchandise is some of the best out their in ALL sports categories. For people to give someone hell for saying they won't buy the new stuff is ridiculous. If the new stuff is "uninspiring" as some of you say the interlocking ND is, then don't expect to see an uptick in merchandise sales.

  2. Schlossman's response to being accused of trying to sway the vote to NoDaks:

"I wrote a column three weeks ago, saying what I was going to vote for. That was my point of view story that, and people can say that's the point of columns. Reporting what the hockey players and coaches were going to vote for is just my job and reporting. People were curious what they were going to vote for and I relayed that information."

  3. That is true, you can't lump everyone together with that statement.  That said,  there are those that were saying "seriously" to the thought of Nodaks to all in now.  How did it all of a sudden become the "it" thing?

I can only speak for myself in that regard. I originally liked the idea of NoDaks because of the tradition and uniqueness of the name. I then considered RoughRiders because of it's association with the state. I ultimately chose NoDaks because of the flexibility is has with a potential new logo and also because of the history of the Fighting Sioux name. The Sioux name was given to UND in a sacred Native American ceremony that has been disregarded by the powers that be. I believe in voting for NoDaks, we can do the best job of honoring those people who gave us the Fighting Sioux name and at the same time move forward with a new tradition.

  4. I think the RR people haven't wavered at all from the time the final five were released and the feeble minded people that are swayed by hack jobs and the twitterverse have swayed from YEAH North Stars to WHOA look at that hawk logo lets go Fighting Hawks to okay the heraldo wants the nodaks so YEAH NODAKS!

Pretty unfair to assume people that are voting for RoughRiders are solid-minded, while those voting for NoDaks can't think for themselves... I will be fine with either of the two names but would prefer NoDaks. I don't go accusing others who don't agree with me of not thinking logically... cmon man.

  5. I get what you are saying, but as long as Hockey is the only program that is WINNING .... CONSISTENTLY. That is the way it will be. Look at Bison football, it has always been their big sport, but what has happened their in the past five years. I have been to their tailgating a few times. Every time is is bigger. I was their this weekend, and it has gotten HUGE! Not because they just have interested alumni, it is because they win. They have die hard fans at tailgating, that didn't even go to school there.

Programs will get attention based on success. That is really the end of it. This holds true almost anywhere. Why has football attendance gone down hill over the last 10 years? We have been terrible. Bubba is trying to turn that around. Do that, and they will continue to get more attention and more support.

Simple having a team in a specific sport is not enough to garner attention. Success is key. That is not my personal opinion, that is the way it is. I would love to see Football and Basketball get more attention, but they need to earn it.

    Exactly.

  6. What I am sick of is the attitude of some (and I emphasis the word some here) Men's Hockey rubes that as long as Men's Hockey is happy, nothing else matters and if everything else goes down the sewer, that is just fine with them. The divide is real, it is not a myth. And it doesn't do our campus any good. Ultimately, all of us should be on the same side and on the same team, whatever the sport is. Don't think for one second that NDSU and other rivals don't use the whole "Hockey is all that matters" mentality when trying to beat us in the recruiting game ("Don't go to UND, all they care about is hockey and no one will care about your team. We'll treat you like royalty here"). The move to Division I in all sports was a waste of time, energy and resources if we continue this "Hockey is all that matters" approach.

Tell that to the women's volleyball team who just swept NDSU in front of 2500 fans.

Pretty sure it's about winning and you're not going to have much coverage if the product

on the field/court isn't worth watching...

  7. If I were UND and NoDaks is picked I would hope they would reach out to Bennet Brien to help in the creation

of the new logo. This is guy is amazing and is very good at what he does. It would also help with bringing people

together to get behind the new name while acknowledging the past. Of course, this might make too much sense

    for the UND administration... :/
