  1. I agree with everything said, there are to many people buying tickets and then jacking up the price selling them. If you can't make the game that is one thing, but do not try to just make money off true hockey fans for the sake of a dollar. I come in from way out of town to attend games, and finding reasonable tickets is getting harder and harder.

  2. My favorite west side bars from the dark ages,

The River Queen where you got high on second hand smoke!

Frenchies Bar where we had our own mugs, still have mine! He made the best Bloody Mary's, mmmm...

The Belouf's bar in the Ryan Hotel, I blank out on the name, they closed that one and opened one in the disaster 'mall' (put a roof over a city block and called it a mall).

The Hub, two or three owners ago, great burgers.

Frenchy's was great, I have fond memories of that place. The bar you speak about in the Ryan Hotel was called the lobby and the loft. It was another great bar until Faces came along in the mall you speak of. I spent some quality time at Faces.

  3. The original Spud was built along the Red Lake River, right beside the Louis Murray Bridge that goes across to the Point in East Grand Forks. The parking lot was mainly along the north side of the building. The foundation started to slide into the river. So they decided to tear that building down and built a new building on the north side of the parking lot, and put a parking lot over the old building. I believe that it became Whiskey Point or Whiskey something for a little while, then became a non-alcoholic club for a little while. I'm not sure what is in that building right now.

The Level 7 went away in the early 80s. Another bar took it's place for a little while, and then bars left that building. There is now a restaurant in part of that space. That is all part of what used to be known as the Holiday Mall in East Grand Forks, a building that is now known as the Riverwalk Centre Mall that now hosts the River Cinema 12 movie theater.

And for UND85, Ma Barkers is now a gas station and office space. I used to hang out at Ma Barkers a lot. Almost all of the places from my youth have changed, and not all for the better.

I was a student in the 70's and it is sad these places are gone. I will check out the new spud the next time I am in GF.

  4. At the original Spud on Friday afternoons. That was before the bar started to sink into the Red Lake River. I don't remember if they had buck pitchers at the new Spud.

I did not know there was a second spud. Does the level 7 still exist?

  8. I attended UND from 2004-2009, so relatively recently. What I was referring to is the fact that I was not around in the 70s when all of the interesting things that you all talk about doing where happening.

I was curious as to when you attended. You were not around during the lean years. The team was not as successfull as it has been in the last 25years so to speak. However it was college hockey and Sioux Hockey just to be at the games at ice level knowing all the players as I did made for some interesting times.

  9. We were all pretty stoned, so it wasn't all that bad.

I would've hated to have to go through it without a buzz on, though.

I also went through the Bjorkman era and do not remember any chicken . Could you please be more time specific as to when you attended and when exactly this incident took place.

  10. Hi,

I have 2 season tickets; however, am not going to make it home but for a few games this year. Maybe two weekends.

I have two seats in row K (section 107), lower bowl where the Sioux shoot twice. The seats are 13 and 14. I have tickets for both nights.

Please email me if you are interested. j.oberg@sbcglobal.net

    Thanks,

    James

Which series are you going to attend? Also what are you asking for the tickets? I am interested but it depends on how much , and which series are available as I am from way out of town and would come in for the entire weekend.

  11. This is great I love when you bring up this old stuff.I was around during those years. Tell me who were the officals in this game? Did Gasparini get suspended for this? Keep bringing this stuff back. Yes it was a really good brawl.
