My girls grew up with "Grandpa Ken" at the Moon. He'd always bring them an extra small bowl of frosting for their cinnamon bread sticks. The Forks is not losing restaurant...it is losing an institution. Our family has terrific memories of that place before we'd head to UND hockey.

Totally agree with your post. Ken and Gloria and then Brad made it a place to go before and after games. Your use of the word institution could not be more accurate. The moon was iconic in Grand Forks culture. Very sad to see it go.

My guess is you are the only one on this board who cares about their nationality.  I will just take the beat coach and he can root for whoever he wants during world junior tournaments

Thank you, with what is happening now why dump on Canadians

Please someone suggest he need not scream when every goal is scored be it on NCHCtv or CBSSN

Yes I agree he sounds like such a homer when he does this. He needs to be careful he might get to excited and fall out of the broadcast booth.

I remmeber people used to say "dumb Canadians" back in the day. In talking with a few guys over the years from U.S. and Canada the thing I heard most was that Canadian High School was quite a bit harder than most American High Schools and the Canadians usually had an easier time adjusting to college coursework.

Good answer, from a Canadian that went to UND and enjoyed every minute of the experience.

  5.   Goons statement about Al could not be more accurate. He was the best ambassador UND hockey every had. He will be missed. Goon if you are at Al's service I would enjoy meeting and speaking with you.

  6. My condolences to the Dunn family. Travis was indeed a class individual. I met him when we were both students at UND in the late 70's. He was a freshman and myself a junior. As people said he always had a smile on his face. I ran into him again when he was doing the broadcasts with Pat Sweeny. I worked as a linesman in the WCHA at that time and we always had interesting conversations when I would run into him after the games. RIP Travis

I'm looking for help/advice with the AXS app. There are eight of us going to the game. All the tickets are on my phone. Two of the couples are not very computer savvy. In order to transfer tickets they would need to get and operate the AXS app. The AXS app says I can transfer tickets but it doesn't say I can transfer individual tickets, i.e. two to one couple, two each to the other couples. More than likely we will all be together entering the game. I'm thinking I will just leave them all on my phone and we'll all enter at the same time. Thoughts?

As long as all of your party is entering with you, at the same time I would not see a problem. They will just scan all eight tickets from your phone.

  8. Very sad to hear this. Dallas was one of the Phyed teachers I worked with at Red River High School in the late 70's when I was a student Teacher. He was terrific to work with. Dallas, Ken Towers  all the greats. RIP Dallas Kopp from a Canadian that will always remember you.

Can't for the life of me remember his name, but UND had a walk-on goalie 1973-74 from Nashville.

He lived with us in Walsh Hall. I cant remember his name either. He was from Knoxville not Nashville.
