Brandt leaving is a gift to this BB team. He had become a liability on the floor with his defense and inability to take good shots. He would fire up 24 footers at the most inappropriate times. Just not a smart ball player, he hasn't really improved since his freshmen year....his perimeter D has become better, but was still a liability on D. With Austin, MJ and Jacobsen the team still has plenty of wings and now this opens up money to bring in others that will help the program much more than Brandt (and Johnson) have or will. Johnson will only be missed if Glas can't find some other posts. JJ was only a minutes eater who didn't do a whole lot to hurt the team, but didn't do a whole to help either.
These were two more recruiting blunders of Glas' when he was recruiting only locally. He had a monoploly on the 1999 second tier players from ND...and that usually is not going to do it in the NCC. Now just Jahner and Dahl left and I doubt there is too much money being wasted there. Hopefully Glas has seen the light and realizes he needs more than local talent to win in the NCC....because if he hasn't by now after the last 10 years or so, maybe he should be somewhere else and let us bring a coach who can win at this level. It sure would be nice to bring success back to the Sioux men's team. It has been a while!!
