  1. Some of you guys are as bad as the Bison board. I keep reading posts on "He keeps losing to teams he should beat". What makes you guys think he should beat a lot of those teams? The Big Sky is one of the worst basketball conferences in D1. It's probably linked i with the Summit and a couple others on that 4/5 tier out of 5/6 tiers to estimate. The Bison board is just as bad. I don't get it. IMHO you overestimate the ability of your team just the same as Bison fans. The Bison have had 1 team that was legitimate on a National level (last year), and another team like 6years ago with a couple quality wins and that's it. Both the Big Sky and the Summit are 1 bid conferences, and will never be anything more. In the landscape of college basketball, both are at the bottom of the totem pole.

  2. I don't think the game will be a blowout. I think UND is coming along nicely, I was following the Montana game and your defense held stout. I know it was their backup QB but I am not sure how much more the starter would have been good for. I think the difference with NDSU is our margin for error. I love the way we play football because it's based on scheme and discipline and not athletes, and UND showed alot of scheme and discipline against Montana. NDSU is so good along the oline/dline that opponenets just can't keep up, even when NDSU doesn't play well. I know it doesn't show right now, but NDSU offense is going to be very very good. The Wentz kid is a special player with a big time arm and some games he just looks to be a man among boys, especially when he runs. Sooner or later the passing game is going to open up and the running game is just going to pound opponents.

NDSU wins in a manner where people don't notice becuase they control both sides of the LOS. It amazes me the lack of intelligence when we play against the big boys and control the LOS that their fans don't see that. UND defense was doing that very nicely against Montana and I am amazed that the "intelligen"t fns of Montana fans didn't see that. We did that to them all game too and even though it wasn't a blowout I don't think fans ever really felt threatened.

I'll be looking to see if your coach can continue to control the LOS on the defensive side of the ball and if that carries over to the offense. I'm hoping once he gets his recruits in you can see alot more balance around the entire unit both sides of the ball. Would love to see UND shake up the big fluff with a defense dominated and controlled team.

  3. I agree. Home and home only. The University of Football Championships does not have an FBS program.

One of the arguments I have seen is that we need to do something before the ND State Legislature gets involved.

Poppycock I say! *IF* they do get involved, they would probably force a home and home. End result would be better.

UND should just be happy to get a game with the University of Football Championships. Thinking they are somehow entitled to a home and home with the best FCS program, amongst the top tier ones not in their conference, is laughable. That's what happens with the lower tier programs in FCS.

  4. I don't think it's really fair to only argue NDSU.

The NCAA tournament selection committee viewed the best team in the Big Sky as one of bottom 6 teams in the entire tournament. IPFW would have at least got a 14 if they ended up going to the tournament. #buttRPI carries a lot more weight than #buttIsaidso.

  5. It's much better than the Summit? LMAO Not according to the landscape of college basketball.

The Big Sky bid got a 16 seed, the Summit got a 12 seed, that's a close correlation of the reflexion of the strength of the conferences. The Big Sky has also been more stable, much longer than the Summit, and the Summit is already a better conference, and has been for a while.

  6. Most Minnesota fans can't take NDSU seriously either. The Minnesota fanbase didn't attend the game well because it was the same bowl game as the year before and the team really deserved a better game and probably should have been playing in a bowl game. Minnesota is a program on the rise again right now.

Minnesota doesn't even take their own program seriously, let alone a bordering inferior neighbor who has beaten them twice in a row now

  7. I use to keep up with football more in the D2 days when a couple guys from my hometown played and they both won national championships so I guess I did enjoy that yes but since the transition to D1 I haven't followed

    all that closely.

I hink it would be hard as hell to try and follow und football closely. But when the hockey team hasn't won a national championship since like 2000, i guess you find any straw u can to hang on too.

  8. Going to mid level bowl games is much more prestigious than winning the FCS and its not close. Also, mid level bowl games are just scratching the surface of what the Gophers could do under Kill.

NDSU has already reached their ceiling, its gotten as good as it gets and its still meaningless college football that people dont watch. Have fun Bison fans.

Prestigious according to whom? Minnesotans own fanbase didnt even want for attend the game. Bisons ceiling is multiple national championships and getting noticed by espn and other national media outlets. We know were not on an equal playing field as minnesota - and the funny thing is, ndsu fans cant even take minnesota seriously.

ThAts how !@#!$ the minnesota program is right now.

  9. Worse than NDSU. I hate the UND. But you both play meaningless college football.

at best, minnesota will never be more than a mid level big 10 team. At best, essentially, they play meaningless football year, after year, after year. Unless they honestly want to take pride in those papa johns bowl games that none of their fans go to, or whatever shithole bowl they can hope for in a best case scenario.

  10. NDSU did not offer out of HS that I'm aware of. Sounds like Utah St really tried hard to get him to stay and he has improved significantly. Would be curious why NDSU wasn't interested, they will be sorely lacking any inside presence. The Bismarck kid will never play an impact role at the D1 level and they're only other returning big in Kading is there to steal minutes only.

  11. Give Bubba 2-3 years and he will put a product on the field that we will not only be proud of, but will also be able to compete with the Ag school to the south.

Think you need to worry about competing within your own conference first before you make that jump up to big boy football like the Ag school down to the south.

  12. Without making that tournament there is no dance, but you could be last in the SL and still make their conference tourny.

It doesn't matter if NDSU doesn't win a game in the conference regular season, or doesn't lose a game in the conference regular season, if they don't get to the tournament this year, there's a lot of questions surrounding the direction of that program. Everything else is irrelevant.

  13. Very quality??? Notre Dame is the only one I can think of...who else is there?

What's your definition of "quality". Remember, we both play in conference that are in the bottom 3rd tier of all of Division 1.

  14. You mean the NCAA tournament because unlike the BSC everyone in the SL (except Omaha) makes the tournament. NDSU's season doesn't start until the SL tourny starts, UND's season starts with the first conference game.

It's NCAA's or bust every year for NDSU, which is why the fanbase is uneasy.

I'm a little shocked that your expectations are the Big Sky Conference Tournament or bust.

  15. Good to know we now have the definition of an "ass kicking". UND has 1 loss by more than they beat NDSU by. You do the math on the rest.

1 = that equals the number of Division 1 wins you have this year total.

The difference between our fanbase, is UND could lose the rest of their games this year, and you would still say "At least we beat NDSU". Last year when NDSU was a game away from the NCAA's and lost to an NBA PG, the fans were upset, and the UND victory was a distant memory never to be thought of again.

  16. Sorry your team got an ass kicking by UND and Ohio St...feel better about your team now?

Yes. We're 8-4 with some very quality wins up until this point, and our team is playing the best they have played all year. Thanks for reminding me.

  17. The Cal Poly game was disappointing. The other 4 losses we were probably not expected to win. Starting tomorrow we will get the read on how good our team really is.

It's exactly how I would look at it. The purpose for your season hasn't even started yet. NDSU has had a very good season up until now. The same can be said if they cannot get through the Summit and make the tournament.

  18. Man, how bad is ndsu really if they got throttled by such a weak UND team? :silly:

There's that comparative scoring thing going on again that the converted hockey fanbase doesn't quite understand. UND isn't a "weak" team, or shouldn't be. You have some good players on that team.

  19. Pretty sad? Yeah sorry we lost to 2 ranked teams and 3 others all on the road.

I don't think "losing" defines what's been happening with your team. "Ass kicked" is much more clear.

I'm just telling you how it is. Feel free to sugar coat it any way you want. The team, with your talent, shouldn't be losing all these games, let alone getting their ass kicked.

  20. Comparative scoring in basketball is for the fans who don't understand the landscape of the game.

UND throttled NDSU. It's still their only D1 so far, which is pretty sad to say the least. If they can't beat SDSU at home, there are some serious issues there. Nagy doesn't have Wolters there to save his job anymore.
