  1. They can see UND getting better and the thought of us getting into the playoffs, and stealing recruits worry them, or else why would they be here.

LOL I highly doubt any NDSU fan is "worried" about UND.  NDSU is going for 5 in a row and just embarrassed UND off the football field earlier this year.  I follow UND because I acknowledge you are our true rival regardless of whatever NDSU fan says.  We don't like SDSU and we hate UNI, but we better not lose to UND.  I thought you guys were coming along last year and would have been better then you were this year.  Next season I will hold judgement until I actually see a few games.

BTW I think your run defense is really good.  I think your secondary is pretty bad, and I think the scheme asks way too much of them. I think the coaches defensive system sells out to stop the run, and puts the secondary on islands they can't handle. We'll see in the future though, but you better starting getting some significantly better talents in the secondary to be able to run that system.

  2. Yep, me and the others that won't show up to watch a subpar product.  Unfortunately our support will be missed when the seats are empty in the Alerus.

By the way, the annual choke job does an Ok job of filling seats.  Over the last 2 decades (with the exception of a couple of years) every season there is realistic hope to hang another banner in REA.

The football program is years away from being there.

I think this is funny. How come UND still supports the hockey team when it gets to the final 4?  You've been a subpar product there too.  UND hasn't won a hockey championship since like 2000.  Do you know longer have expectations?  I know how rich and proud your hockey program is, and that's unacceptable.  You pride your program on championships, and rightfully so.  Conference banners are meaningless. CHampionships should be the only thing that matters,

If I was a UND fan, I would probably quit supporting that subpar product too.  Until they win another championship.  If that ever even happens.

  3. I'll just try and offer an unbiased opinion and keep it constructive.

I'm not going to compare the talent on the teams - to me it was obvious, but you're also talking about one program that is 5 classes deep + of the type of player it wants. Established.  Vs another program that IMHO doesn't even really have 1 recruiting class of what the coach wants, because let's face it, when Bubba was hired at that point he's doing recruiting cleanup and hasn't even established any relationships yet.  SO that will change.

Your offense was just flat out overmatched - but you guys know that. No sense in even getting into that. Not even really sure what you guys were trying to establish on offense and it never did get to a point where I could see if you had playmakers on the edges, which is kind of strange to say but whatever.  Fix the oline but I am sure that is a staple of Bubba and he will work on getting that done.

You're defense was stout and held strong.  I think NDSU's offense was just better and the defense broke but I could see there was a foundation there.  We couldn't run up the middle at all till late in the game.  Honestly, I was impressed with your interior D, but the more I watched, the more selling out it looked like to me to stay strong through the middle and sell out on the edge. Looked like Bubba's defense philosophy was asking the perimeter defense to do a hell a lot and leave the CB/DB stranded to a degree.  Looked to be way too much to me.  Will be interesting to see how your defense handles spread option big sky teams that want to get out in space.

  4. I don't have a problem with UND fans wanting to target Wentz injury in the football game.

I'm pretty sure NDSU fans are going to want to target UND's injured football vajayjay  in the game (which is probably more likely to happen).

  5. Wouldn't have started ahead of Hanson 3 yrs ago. Not sure he would have been starter here last 2 years. No way to compare. He continues to develop as a very good FCS QB. He is a big part of the Ag school success and he is an NFL prospect. He is a key piece of the puzzle and it is a great example of how important the team concept is to the success of the individual and how the success of the individual is to the team game. No criticism of the kid. He is very good. The guys here have not had the surrounding cast he has and fortunately for him he has had the chance to develop under Johnson who some argue is the best QB they have ever had, and also with a great oline, excellent RB's, and receivers and a defense that can make up for any mistakes which have been few for this kid. He has also had very good coaching. Not sure why anyone would criticize the kid. All he has done is win.

Comparing him with our guys cuz can't be done. He would not have been a "great benefit to us" cuz he would not have had time to throw nor the running game he has nor the receivers this yr. He would have had great receivers here last yr but he wasn't here so no

    one knows.

Carson is already a better QB than Jensen is, and Jensen's legacy is arguably the greatest QB of all time at NDSU - though Carson's legacy won't pass Jensen's. Agree about your coaching, oline, and running game argument. Completely disagree about your WR's argument. Outside of Vraa and some occasional big catches from the freshmen, NDSU didn't get much of anything from the WR core this year. Im sure UND has better depth at the WR position.

  6. NDSU is going to have their hands absolutely full against Illinois St.  WOuldn't surprise me if Illinois St pulls it off. Their RB is an absolute stud, and NDSU better figure out how to control the interior LOS or their defense is going to get pounded in the manner of Coastal Carolina.

I think Carson "below average" Wents controls the game like CC and gives NDSU a chance to win.

BTW - Vraa has a hardship season and will most likely be back next year.  They already have 1 returning safety in board that has filled in quite nicely.  Doesn't matter who the RB is it's always been a "next man up" type position. NDSU will be just as capable as anyone next year. Certainly won't miss the playoffs.

  7. I'll put it this way. The guy doesn't torch FCS. He is big fast and has an arm. Things you can't teach. But he doesn't pick apart defenses. He lights up defenses... Sometimes... When they stack the box.

Smart guy. Good athlete. Unfortunately, that doesn't mean you are going to be an NFL quarterback. Its an extremely difficult thing to accomplish. He is not Flacco, Romo, Warner, or to a MAC-extent, Roethlisberger.

He is an okay quarterback on a team that is pretty good. That's what he is. Nothing wrong with that. Has UND had both football and hockey players who are solid who don't make the pros? Yep.

I'm more than happy to make a bet with anyone, twenty bucks, that he will not start game in the NFL.

So if a guy doesn't start in the NFL he sucks in college?  That's just rich. You need to stick to your hockey team and out of football logic.

Also, a QB needs WR's that can get seperation before they can star picking apart defenses. He does pretty good for a guy who's started 14 games of whatever.

  8. LMAO

SO now the argumwent with Wentz is if he doesn't make an NFL roster there's a justified argument that he "sucks"?

Wentz, like 99% of the QB's in all of D1, has some things he needs to work on. But any football fan actually trying to argue that he "sucks", or is another version of Mertens, is just playing football stupid and doesn't know jack chit.

I also find it convenient that people calling him a shtty QB conveniently somehow miss the games he plays well in and is the best player o the field.

  9. What are your expectations for Hakstol? Does the fact that UND hockey gain more focus mean he has higher standards?  He hasn't won a championship, and his curve starts out as NCAA runner up, to a plethora of semifinalist finishes, to now a plethora of regional finals. I think NDSU fans would demand a change if that was the case in football. I think if I was a ND fan I would be more unhappy with Hakstol than Jones concisdering the program expectations and what goes into them.

  10. silly to even discuss- so many variables.......like SU had a ball control offense and UND was down to a 3rd string red  shirt pulled freshman at QB with only 1 healthy RB.

How do you even not discuss it?  Even going by stats the 2 are virtually uncomparable. On an honest truth,. your defense has come along way this year and hopes to continue to get better, but its comparing palles to oranges on where the 2 programs are at right now defensively, whether you want to discuss just this year, or as a program identity altogether.

  11. Different schemes, different philosophies, different conference style of opponents dipsmack-  I don't know how you would compare so it's a pretty silly comment.

DO you think your defensive is comparable to NDSU's in effectiveness?

  12. Get real man, this year we had a great defense overall and the stats don't lie. Our dbacks need some work but otherwise that is an incredibly stupid statement.

Your defense, for as good as it was, wasn't anything like NDSU's this year. I'm not even sure why this is an argument.

  13. For as bad as NDSU's defense has looked (terrible), there still isn't a UND defensive player who would start for them.

NDSU has gone 56-3 in the last 4 seasons, and somehow they shjould be thankful for "homefield cooking" in the playoffs?

    LOLCopter

  14. Was at the game last night cheering against the Sioux sitting right dead in the middle of Sioux section. My first ever college hockey game. You guys fans bring it. I was impressed by the constant jiving and the chants your section does. You're hockey team didn't bring it as much. I was shocked at my brother in law keep telling me you guys were #1.  Will tonight be any different?

  15. We were their Super Bowl, Pryor wasn't prepared for that. Now you have NDSU who had a dance trip last year and UND who had a CIT trip so I would think UND would be more hyped up in beating the Bison even though NDSU got a total smackdown last year.

I think it's a good point. Kind of like volleyball, this is your guys SuperBowl. I will expect a UND win with that being said,.

  16. NDSU getting a bit of home cooking on the officiating, it seems.  You can't call pass interference if it's not a catchable ball to begin with.

They should have called holding which is what it was. That would have stood regardless.

  17. Wentz is definitely a prospect for an nfl. He has a long ways to go, but he has everything needed to be an nfl qb. The biggest thing is his decision making will need to improve, his accuracy will improve over time. Right now his game accuracy isn't mirroring his practice.

He also has imho one of the worst wr units in fcs.

Props to sdsu. They had control and should have won the game. Ndsu stepped up and made plays when they neede too. Very similar to GSU couple years ago.
