  1. Most folks around Siouxsports seem to think that Mussman will be named Head Coach tomorrow. Who will be hired as assistant coaches?

I believe there is gonna be a lot of new faces. Lennon has added mostly defensive Assistants and Kelling maybe one of the front runners for the Mankato Job. And I don't know if he will take any Offensive people with him. I think Lennon is waiting to see who gets the job here. If it's not Mussman he go with Lennon but I think he will be offered the head coaching position here. I hope we can retain Belmore.

  2. It looks like a few of the K-State faithful have somewhat mixed feelings on the job that Tim Tibesar is doing as DC down there.

If he was trying to implement the same defense as we have here I can see the struggles. I have talked with former sioux players and they say this defense is very complicated with the blitz schemes and coverages. It takes a while to learn and be comfortable in it. Just I have heard.

  3. Would if be a option for Tibesar to be the next head coach where he is now? That might be something he is thinking about. What is his relationship with the administration there?

  4. I was told UND doesn't plan to open the job and will appoint Mussman. I was told by the same source that Tibesar would be interested. I wonder if Bohl will apply. He may wish to upgrade.

    :glare:

  5. Let's say for the sake of argument that Mussman does go with Lennon to SIU, along with Bubba. Let's also assume Tibesar says thanks, but no thanks. Then where does UND look? Tesch? Sawyer from Winona? Some recently-fired I-A coordinator who has had success in the past, a la what NDSU did when they hired Bohl?

Mussman is looking for a head coaching job. I don't think he will follow Lennon even thought there might be a chance.

  6. Anyone else really uncomfortable with Brekke being the one hiring a coach? No offense but 18 months ago he was working at a bank in Cavalier, ND!!! Now he's filling the head job of the sport that was behind pushing for the DI move.

This athletic department is in big trouble right now. There is no leadership in place and huge decisions are being made in regards to long term situations. Damn Dale. This was a terrible time to jump ship!!! :glare:

Brekke will do fine. He will do what's the best for the program. And that's why I believe it will be someone internal or with UND ties. I believe he knows more about UND athletic's than Buning. Who would you rather have pick the next coach Buning or Brekke?

  7. It's a sad day in Siouxland. Congratz to Dale he was a great coach here but it was just a matter of time that this day was gonna come. Time to look ahead. I thought the world was coming to a end when RT left and then we got Lennon. We have some good canidates out there with Sioux ties that I believe could do very well here just like Lennon did.

I believe Mussman and Tibesar are the main canidates. With Mussman getting the job. Bubba is also in the mix but that's it. My main concern is who Dale will be taking with him. We have some good assistance like Eric Schmidt, Mike Mannausau, Kelling and on Offense Belmore. If we keep this style of Defense and don't hire Bubba or Tibesar I hope we retain one of those guys on the defensive side. I also believe that Hedberg could go with Lennon to SI and also Mannausau.

My guess is Mussman Head Coach, Belmore O-cord, Kelling D-cord. But it's hard to say. I just hope that someone doesn't come up with the idea of getting together a search comittee to hire a new head coach. This is what they do for everthing else around here and it takes for ever. :glare:

  8. Judging by MplsBison's list, apparently I'm not either.

What may be most interesting about this thread is the way the two staffs grade rb's. Chappell (sp.) was not offerred by SU and has turned out great for you guys; Solum was not offerred by us but looks to a good player for you as well. Now Horner was apparently not offered by UND, but was high on NDSU's list. I guess you just have to recruit who you think best fits your system.

Couldn't have said it better myself.

  9. Good question. I would hope Tibesar would be ready by next year (although I have no idea the extent of his injury), but the only other fullback on the roster that I'm aware of is the Safranski kid from Stephen-Argyle. Speaking of Stephen-Argyle and fullbacks, I saw the state championship game, and was thinking that the Gratzek kid looked like he might be a nice college fullback. I know his brother's at NDSU, but he might be somebody to watch for.

The little I saw him play this year the Safranski kid has good size and blocked well. Mostly cleaning up in blowout games though. What was Tibesar's injury anyway? I had heard it was a ankle injury.

  10. There were a number of linebackers red-shirting this year, including this kid who could be a good one, so hopefully one or more of them will be ready to play next year. We definitely could use a big nose guard in the Callahan/Schultz/Wolff mode.

He has nice size. I hope you are right.

  11. Fact is that UNO can only run the ball and that there passing game was overrated. I watched the Sioux game and the USD game and Miller's passes were not accerate at all. That's what upsets me everytime someone plays them. Sellout stop the run. That's what Central Washington did.
