  1. I still see both Hartness brothers on the roster. This is 100% guess but I'm wondering if the staff asked them to come in when school starts once they lost a few kickers. I think they brought in two walk on kickers for depth midway through fall camp and you can only have so many kids in fall camp. Being the Hartness guys will redshirt anyways and a backup kickers are very important I could've seen that happening. Wondering if they won't be back at practice shortly along with other guys like Chad Bartosh (another nice ND addition). Again 100% guess. If they are still on the roster though it's a good chance they are still in the program.

i know nothing about them between the ears, but talent wise coming out of high school I think both would have a shot to play in a few years if they worked hard and follow the S&C program. Tristan at WR especially.

I heard from a good source they are done with football at UND.

  2. It's already been stated that the public will be able to vote for the finalists which I don't agree with. Fine, you let every Tom, Dick, and Harry submit suggestions. But you see how many people were just throwing out derogatory or offensive names because they don't care about UND. Now their going to go ahead and allow these same people a vote to choose the winning name?!? I just don't get it. At this point, the vote should be limited to students, alumni, faculty, donors, and season ticket holders and that's it. People who have a vested interest in the University.

    agreed

  3. The Sharp situation makes me think UND knows their is real good chance they will be ringing in another RB and they probably know who it will be. Did Sharp leave or did we give him a good hint that he probably was going to be low on the list of RB's for playing time. Who left who? I have always had the feeling he wasn 't going to be good enough and the coaching staff didn't think he was in their long term plans.

I heard they let Sharp go.

  4. Sharp kind of caught my eye based of of the highlights of the spring game. I would be interested to hear if anyone can confirm the above.

Also- Such a bummer Nevermann can't play next year; kid looks and runs tough. Is there any way to appeal bohl's decision to at least get another year of eligibility?

Like I said about Sharp.  I can't confirm.  But heard it from the a student that knows him.  It might be all hear say but that's why I was asking if anyone else had heard anything.

  5. geaux_sioux has proved to be the expert on o-line.

My humble opinion.......O-line is probably the hardest spot for a true freshman to come in and play (Besides QB maybe).  At this level, an o-lineman needs to be big enough, strong enough, tough enough, have the feet, and some of these aforementioned incoming freshman may have this.  But, then you also need to have technique, be assignment sharp, be able to gel with your linemates, and the intangible of being a gamer.  All those things considered it's tough for a true freshman to have all those 'qualities'.

I hope we can redshirt all the incoming guys because the upper classman are better and more developed.  But, if one is ready to play, let's play him.

I drilled the coaches the other night and we kind of know our starters at positions like the LBs, some or most of the secondary, D-line we have a pretty good idea.  But on the offensive line, their is a lot of uncertainty in a good way, meaning that we have some guys that are looking really good and developing nicely.  Coaches mentioned a handful of guys, but what positions and how it shakes out is totally up in the air.  The competition should only make the individuals and team better.

    Well said!!

  6. As Tom Miller pointed out:

Just wondering what people realistically are expecting from next year's defense? With Schmidt coming into the fold, that makes our last 3 DC's former players of Bubba. We know it will be a 3-4, and I can't imagine there will be much change in scheme, if at all will there?

What will make the defense more effective under Schmidt than it was under Kotelnicki?

Why did the defense regress so much from 2011 to 2012 under Mannausau?

    Discuss..............

Need players. Didn't have the talent.
  7. What's Big Sky Country? What does that mean? How does that help?

If you are referring to recruiting, which is where it all starts, don't we all agree that we need to do better in the upper midwest for recruiting? ND, MN, WI?

We do NOT need kids from California, Washington and Oregon. Not sure how being familiar with Big Sky country really helps.

I respectfully disagree and believe we need a coach who understands how to recruit the upper midwest successfully.

    Agreed
  8. One problem is our middle backers don't get off blocks well. Goodman is a good player but is to small to be a middle linebacker. I think he is only 225lbs soak and wet. We have a QB that 235 lbs. We need thumpers in the middle of that defense that are athletic.

  9. That's good.

So now it seems likely that Mr. Heimler acted on his own with his misleading quotes.

If he would just admit it, this thing is done.

Mr. Heimler you don't have to say a word. This guy doesn't even belong on this board.

Why he wants to post here is anybodies guess. Know one must like him on the Bison board is my guess. :D

  10. All I can say is the kid picked the right school.

He is probably thinking, I'm glad I didn't pick NDSU. What kind of fan's do they have there? They sound like a bunch of cry babies.

All you are doing is making this kid feel even better about his choice. thanks for the plug.
