Blue Bombers RB Harris is suspended for two games. Santiago has a chance to get in game action: https://www.bluebombers.com/2019/08/27/next-man-augustine-santiago/
Hope he gets some playing time! He just needs a shot.

You can park you're car and then walk thru the tailgate area. No pass to get in unless you want to reserve a spot. At 1 or 2 o'clock games people are there by 9 a.m. or so. It's always fun to watch the players walk thru. That usually a couple of hours before game time.

It would be great to see Deion jump a route for a pick six this week. I'd love to see the kid get a shot. OR if he gets cut, maybe the Vikes could give him a shot
The Vikings picking him up is a possibility with Zim being a cornerback whisperer and with Hughes coming back with a knee injury last year. Plus Hill being suspended. This is all on the premises he gets cut of course. I hope he makes Washington's roster.

The Rudy “ push a circle through a square” offense is gone. 3 years too late but finally!! Great to have a feeling where maybe, just maybe, the offense is capable of mounting a comeback. Going to need it this year with the toughest fcs schedule
My feeling on the positional breakdown:
CBs- by far the most talented CB group und has ever had. With the exception of holm and blubaugh their are very young but extremely talented and deep!
ILBs - getting verde for one more year is huge! Played great ball last year. Love the starters and depth.
OLBs- jaxson is a beast and was initially high on haas before he left but the rest of the group scares the hell out of me. Jade has experience.
Nose- Wow! Morrison better have all America talent or opponents will attack the gut all day. There is no depth behind him. Nose is by far the most important position in a 3-4 scheme. I’m not sure he has gained enough pounds to handle heavy productive mins. Pierre will no doubt have his shirt pulled.
DL- mason is simply a stud! Losing Ott is such a big loss. Damnit! I think engwall and seguin are good athletes. Watching Jaelen Johnson in practice ....this guy could be huge steal Great body frame and twitch. If he added 20ish pds from last year this guy should start opposite of Bennett.
Safety- canady is good and a healthy Nelson form a nice duo. A lot of returning players with big mins played just not a Reyes type player
OL- unlike most here I think this unit will be very good. They were set up to fail in the most predictable offense the fcs has seen. There is a ton of experience. The LT is the only question mark.
Qb- returning starter with a ton of d1 experience. Should be 10x the qb under freund. The depth is a question mark.
Rb- JJ and Austin are nice backs. McKinney will be the X factor. Sproles like. Big potential there. Skokna will at least play 4 games. Talented group
Wr- with freund running the show this positional group really intrigues me. Perfectly complemented group. Wanzek and Maag are the big sure handed mid range receivers, adeoti is the deep guy and griebel the Edelman type guy. Great group!
TE- cloyd time! Devore is a stud
special teams - Kicker ....hopefully the transfer is capable. Return and coverage teams need to step it up. Inexcusable what they have done the last few years
Biggest positional need is Nose and it’s not even close. Ndsu could have a field day. Followed by the OLB group. Too many drop down smallish guys that talently speaking ....I’m not sure they’re ready.
We as fans need a spark. The program hasnt been much in the d1 era Bubba needs to take the next step and win games that were not favored to win. Get some playoff wins! Beat the &?!@ out of ndsu. Beat e wash! Pound teams without letting off the pedal! Change everyone’s mindset to think und is capable . This schedule sets up for an exciting season...,,take advantage of it!
Can’t wait!!
I have heard Pierre will have a good chance getting his shirt pulled. I've heard he is very strong for a true freshman.

Yes, my understanding is that we have a few decent-sized commitments but still looking for the "big one"!
Call it a dream or what ever you want, but what if KEM comes in and says if MK goes we will pledge money for Phase 2!

Boltmann getting reps at WR
Saw practice on Friday. Boltmann really looked good at WR. He is thicker and looked fast.

Give UND credit. They are trying. Not much chance of getting him. NDSU would never let that happen
Unless SU tries to get him on the cheap with PWO thinking he is a shoe in for them. Things may change then.

UND dodged a major bullet this weekend and will be better for it in the future. Going to leave it at that.
Very excited to a see a kid of Lukasiewicz's character come onto campus this weekend. The TEAM will be better once he joins it.
I heard the same. Seems we dodge a bullet.

That can turn the tide in recruiting also when he maybe torn between two or three schools.
-
Maybe one of the most important things is what he wants to do for a major. Anyone know?

I predicted Grover will never start AND win. He is not good enough. You say here I am completely wrong but then basically agree with me. Strange ...
He may have the intangibles but that doesn't dispute my point: he won't start and win games. If he does, great! I just don't see that. Not enough arm talent or big play ability.
Zimmerman played well at times in 2017 and was voted captain for 2018. I think that indicates who the players are actually behind.
Not enough arm talent? Have you seen him throw a football before? I have many times and his arm is right up with the rest of them if not the best.

This game was a tail of two halves and especially on Defense. We heard all week that they are going to try to run the ball more and we geared up to stop the run and play not play tight coverage. We knew little about who was starting on this team and had little film to watch to see what they like to do. In the second have our corners started to press coverage them to knock them out of their routes and we also played zone to take away their throwing lanes. This made their qb look for his second read because his first was fighting to get off at the line of scrimmage so he didn't have the quick throw and that allowed us more time to get to the qb to pressure him or sack him. It was a good adjustment at half. Now that being said if we are playing a good team we will have to adjust before half-time. I like how UND spread the ball around on Offense to different players but when we have a chance to catch a ball the WR's need to catch it. Need to improve on Special team. That's my 2 cents.

He was only scholarship QB recruit brought in for that class. This when the QB scenario was in shambles (2014-15) with Mollberg injury and Studsrud looking poor, albeit his true freshman season, for the final 4 of 2014. Narrative at the early juncture was that Bubba was heading to Rugby to find UND it's "future QB".
Plenty of subjectivity with all of this, but the fact remains that UND has minimally recruited the QB position; and the few they have brought in have changed positions or simply moved on (Mollberg, Heidlebaugh, kid from Minot).
I believe Heidlebaugh was proffered walk on.

Avants is a very high motor hard working undersized post but can barley jump over a phone book. Shanks' last name might as well be his nickname. Bernstein is a smooth point forward type who has an ok mid-range game and a really good handle. We are very vulnerable to teams with quality size down low. Our guards can ball with the best of them. Like others have said, if they're knocking down 3s we can stay with anyone but if you guys can get the big fellas rolling we are screwed. I'm very excited for this game as it's a long time in the making but the two 7 footers you guys have seem to be exactly what we don't need. Hopefully we can catch you guys on an off night and make it interesting. If we can somehow get the big boys in foul trouble it could make it a great game but I won't hold my breath.
Just a simple question. If Avants can barley jump over a phone book why do the coach's have him take the opening tip?

I wish him the best also! He is a good guy.

I hear Eastern Washington is where he is going.

I don't love this. I get it. I'm ok with it. I just liked the other way better. I liked those road trips better, and it's kinda of like Texas A&M being in SEC vs Big 12 like all the other Texas schools for me. I'm not gonna do anything about it; I'm just not gonna throw a party over it.
My feelings exactly.

Nice and loud to start the game, but once they announced the winner of the tuition money students left like it was all you can drink in the parking lot. There were rows of empty seats by us that was once filled by students. Pretty sad. They missed a good comeback!
The student section is a embarrassment. I sit next to them and it doesn't matter what the score is they will leave at half time or when the tuition money is given out. Many people around me were booing them as they left. It's a sad deal. I've sat next to them since the Alerus has opened and it seems to get worse every year.

We lost three people in our department today plus the couple others who were forced to retire early. I know which department you speak of and they will be back filled with positions from those specific areas. The mismanagement for the last 5yrs is starting to come to light and it is staggering. The finger can be pointed at a few people who were obviously alseep at the wheel. They should also be the ones to lose their jobs as well.
Agreed!
