According to the St. Cloud Times, Duncan may be named the WCHA player of the year edging out Goepert. Interesting read;
"The good-and-bad news: I have it on good authority Andreas Nodl will be the WCHA Rookie of the Year. Unfortunately, I have it on even better authority that Bobby Goepfert somehow lost out to UND's Ryan Duncan as Player of the Year. All due respect to Duncan, who's had a great season and deserves all his accolades -- especially for playing against guys twice his size -- I'm not convinced Goepfert doesn't mean more to SCSU than Duncan does to the Sioux. I guess we'll find out for real when the awards are announced on Thursday. I'll update them on our web site as they happen. If they pan out this way, perhaps Goepfert will be inspired to take revenge for last year's 5-3 season-ending loss in the Final Five title game -- including a goal on which Duncan made Goepfert look as bad as anyone. I believe Goepfert is not only the Player of the Year but he should be among the 10 Hobey Baker finalists announced Thursday, if not the winner next month. Motzko, a candidate for Coach of the Year, has earned that title nationally from SI.com" - Kevin Allenspach

According to Heisenberg's sight, Joe Gleason a defenseman from Edina verballed to UND for 2008 or 2009.

Why is it so difficult to shorten the lines in overtime?
-
Erstad committed to Wisconsin today.
From the Capitol Times:
Erstad had North Dakota a close second on his list of schools. He clarified that UND did not offer him a scholarship; Sioux coaches decided to wait.

Trupp had a goal and 2 assist including the overtime game winning goal in a 3-2 victory Thursday. Hextall added 4 PM's.

Ryan Bakken's blog I think sums it up best;
Coach Dave Hakstol has always handled well the fact that his studs have left his team for 3-4 weeks over the holidays to play in the world juniors, rationalizing it by the fact that they return as better players. That has certainly been the case with Toews _ and Taylor Chorney, who was playing well before the Worlds, too. Brian Lee, who was good enough to be on the World Juniors roster three times, remains the enigma. He's played fine except for the fact that he makes the huge mistake that ends up with a red light flashing.

The Oilers had a skills competition yesterday. Evidently Mr. Greene has a pretty hard shot. 100.9 of what I must assume was MPH v. KPH. Good for second place on the team.

Tied for second as Shootout king. The kid is a sniper.
Anybody know if Greene is still using a wood stick?

Prpich signed throw back jersey from the Peluso fight.
-
Who knows anything about this kid?
Jake Hanson - White Bear Lake HS
He's only a junior this year, but it says in the Star Tribune today that he has several visits to D-1 programs set up for the next 6 weeks or so, including Minnesota, UND, Duluth, Denver, CC, and Mankato. What are our chances landing this kid?
Committed to Minnesota according to GPL

From the Star-Trib;
One punch later, and Fedoruk would be rushed to the hospital with what the team called a facial injury. Wild players said the right side of Fedoruk's face caved in when Boogaard clobbered him. -

This was posted about a week ago under "Former Players".

Toews, Duncan, Porter Martens or Bishop or Forney or Vandevelde or Walski, basically anyone else would be better..
Oshie, Kozek, Watkins
Kaip, Fabian, Porter
Zajac, Miller, Bishop
PP1: Oshie, Toews, Duncan
D: Lee/Chorney
PP2: Watkins, Kozek, Kaip/Porter
D: Radke/Finley
Porter does not belong on a top line or on the power play....period!
But a guy who has 3 career goals in Kaip does? I still can't figure that one out.

Jordan Parise gave up 6 goals in his AHL debut last night.

Hextall's verbal was posted this morning on Heisenberg's recruiting page.

I'm not sure if this was already posted somewhere, but the paper showed this morning that Matt Smaby was called up from Tampa Bay. I believe this is his first stint in the NHL, so congrats.
