  1. I can't believe I missed it! It is hard to swallow this one. The sioux played with so much heart, and I really wanted to see them win. I just saw the replay, and I really feel for Lammoureaux. Has anyone heard how Bina is doing?

    <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Woog and the Weave said that he could move his hands and feet, but had tingling in them. No definative word though.

Hopefully for Bina and his family this is just a scare and nothing serious is wrong.

  2. Greyeagle,

Thanks for the stats.  Nice work!  Now just out of curiosity, can you tell me what the finishes were of the Gophers/Badgers the years the tournaments were in the local cities.  Obviously that has an impact.  I will say this about Bucky fans...they do support their team, but a Final Five in Milwaukee without them would be a disaster attendance-wise.

I agree, although I won't be attending.  Given the quality of hockey CC has put on for a number of years now and Denver's recent success, those two schools deserve a WCHA Final Five in their backyard.

    <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Being out in Denver it would be nice to have the games here at the Pepsi Center, but I don't know how likely it is. Attendance would be very low, since college hockey isn't that big of a deal out here. Granted this year hockey is big in Denver and the Springs, since both teams are doing so well. Also, the Avs are not playing which has added to attendance.

For example, last year in CC the Regional there seemed to be more Sioux fans then Denver fans and DU is just an hour away. Plus before this year the only game that you couldn't get great seats for in Denver were the CC vs. DU games. Otherwise, the arena was about half full for most games. So unless DU or CC are the defending NCAA champs the tourney wouldn't be very good out here.

That being said the Minnesota Rule is BS and should be taken away. Playing in front of your home fans is advantage enough. Unless you are the #1 seed or play-in winner you should play the afternoon game. DU will get a tired team Friday afternoon and that will be a big advantage for the Pios and their sawed off coach Gowasdicky or whatever his name is. I just want the Sioux in the same region as the Pios, since they haven't looked that great of late.

    GO SIOUX.

  3. Did any one else's audio feed from 96.1 just turn into some type of demonic type of audio?

How can I hear if the Sioux score again.

    Rotten feed...

It has happened to me a couple times in the last few days. Close Media Player and reopen. Worked for me.

  4. I wouldn't say that Wisconsin was the most talented team that season. Wisconsin had one line and basically rode it as far as they could till teams like UND shut them down in the WCHA final five.

    <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Wisconsin may not have been the most talented team, but they did have Heatley and were Ranked #1 a good part of the season. They won the WCHA that season and were a favorite if not THE favorite going into the NCAAs even after losing to ND.

Like I stated in my first post the teams I listed were not all the best teams, but all were highly ranked teams that held the #1 ranking a good part of the year. I was basically saying the best team doesn't always win.

  5. I don't think Kessel is overrated, but he is getting a lot of hype before ever playing a game. I think Kariya was better coming in, though not American born. Also, Kessel is not the greatest born American player, that is just a joke. The Gophers have a great class coming in and could have a great season and win a NCAA title, but lets not get ahead of ourselves.

    1) Paul Kariya was 25-75-100 in his freshman year and the Maine team almost went unbeaten. That being said the game is different now and Kessel won't reach those numbers. I think Parise freshman numbers are attainable and probable.

    2) Also the "best" or "most talented" teams don't always win it all. There are a lot of teams that should have or were favorites to win NCAA Championships, but in a one game playoff structure any team can go down. The list may not be the best teams, but they were all strong top ranked teams that didn't do it.

    96-97 Michigan

    97-98 Sioux

    98-99 Sioux

    99-00 Wisconsin

    01-02 Denver

    03-04 Sioux

    3) There is a big difference from what is on paper and what is on the ice. A team can look unbeatable on paper, but chemistry, injuries and bad luck can derail and championship run.

Basically, the Gophers have a great class, but the Sioux's class looks great also. A healthy Sioux team without many early defections will be a good team next year and will be a challenge for the Gophers. We'll see what everything looks like in October.

For now, the Gophers shouldn't order a 05-06 banner and we should concentrate on this season.

GO SIOUX. Beat Ain't Proud State this weekend.

  6. They lost to a banged up, horrible AA team. What do you think will happen when a Good Wisconsin team comes to GF next weekend. Sioux will get swept and show no heart like they have done all year.

Denver did make a run last year, but they also started playing better late in the year before losing to CC, who is their rival. The Sioux are not Denver 2004, so you can forget about some miracle run in the NCAAs. Plus you need to make the tourney to win it and that may be tough when you lose to a crappy, banged up AA team. I say they win one game the rest of the year vs. St. Clown and then lose in the first round of the playoffs.

    Hopefully they prove me wrong.

  7. Could hardly believe my eyes when I read the Herald link today discussing UND and a run at the national title just like Denver last year.  I've got news for you folks...you can't turn it on like a #@%! light switch.  This is a barely over .500 team.  How about one game at a time?  National title run...puhlease.  Let's start with home-ice advantage for the first round of the WCHA tournament, thank you.

    <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

I would like to see a win in WCHA play. We're on our way to losing 6 in a row.

  8. That's OK hopefully it will be an early night for Parise as well. What is that 3 goals on 8 shots?

    <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Greene with the penalty and Parise giving up a goal. Nice 1-2 punch. Play LAMMY.

  9. Disagree. This was going to be a tough weekend, without some key forwards and against a real good opponent. Still, they skated right with them, and must have clanked about 4 posts each game (not exactly sure). Posts don't go on the scoreboard, but I think it shows they are right there. I think there is still some goodness left to this season.

    <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

The problem is that we have been hitting posts all year. I just don't see the team making a serious run against top competition in the tourney. They may need to win their first round of the WCHA playoffs just to get off the bubble. If the young defense can hold up next year I see it as a much better team. Just an opinion.

  10. They sometimes broadcast the DU games here in Denver. They had the AA games last week, but the games were played in Denver, so they may only do local games. I haven't seen if either of this weekends games will be broadcast, since I'll be out of town. I know that the following place has been able to get Sioux Satt. feeds as long as you bring in the cordinates. I saw the final 5 games last year and other random games. Here is there info.

    Denver's Old Hole-Sports Grill

    990 S Oneida

    Denver, CO 80224 - 1708

    (303) 388-2883

  11. While I don't agree that a loss will mean the end to the season, I do agree that the way the Sioux respond in the 2nd will go a long way in showing what kind of character this team has.

    <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

You're right. Just letting out a little frustration. Losing is tough, but not showing effort is unbearable.
