    Can someone please tell me what Otz otz dzi means? :ohmy:

    I believe it's written "ODZ DZO DZI" but sounds more like "OD ZOD ZI".

    Alexander Chamberlain, in his work "The Child and Childhood in Folk-Thought", had this to say about war cries in college fight songs...

    The "college yells" of the United States and Canada

    offer an inviting field for study in linguistic atavism and barbaric vocal expression.

    The New York World Almanac for 1895 contains a list of the "yells"

    of some three hundred colleges and universities in the United States.

    Out of this great number, in which there is a plentitude of "Rah! rah! rah!",

    the following are especially noteworthy....

    He goes on to note some other examples and then says:

    The palm must, however, be awarded to the University of North Dakota,

    whose remarkable "yell" is this:

    "Odz-dzo-dzi! Ri-ri-ri!

    Hy-ah! Hy-ah! North Dakota!"

    Hardly could the ancestors of Sitting Bull and his people

    have suspected the immortality that awaited their ancient slogan.

    I hope he plays this weekend.

    At Sioux Boosters today, Coach Hakstol said that Finley and Trupp would not dress tonight. He indicated that both were getting closer to returning to the lineup.

    Might I humbly suggest the SiouxSports.com UND/SCSU pregame social at Southgate Grill and Bar on South Washington street? We'll be gathering there from 3:00 until 6:00 on Saturday afternoon. You'll get a chance to meet quite a few fans on both sides of the rivalry and take a look at the UND/SCSU Challenge Cup. We're also giving away door prizes, and Southgate runs a shuttle bus to the arena and back. Hope you'll join us!

    Questions: Bars and Bus to The Ralph

    Some friends and I are visiting your city/The Ralph for the SCSU hockey series in December (be nice, were good SCSU fans, if there is such a thing).

    Saturday we have tickets and would like to drink downtown pre-game. Are there any bars that offer a shuttle bus from their establishment to the Ralph?

    Sorry for the delayed reply. Please consider joining us for the UND/SCSU fan social on Saturday, December 13th at Southgate Bar and Grill. There will be plenty of fans and a great atmosphere. They run buses to and from the games. More information can be found here.

    I agree.....you lose twice to the purple cows and thats a real shot to the ego that might be tough to bounce back from.

    Losing to this Maverick team should not be a "shot to the ego", particularly in Mankato. This is a club that could climb into the top three in the WCHA. Now, the way UND lost tonight, well, that's another story...
