  1. When Grand Forks Central changed their name in June of 1991 they continued to sell Redskins stuff until it ran out in their school store. I was lucky to have bought a hat and a jacket which i still have today.

  2. Any other Directv customers pissed at Charley Johnson station mgr at KXJB/KVLY! He claims he is not getting the money other stations are so he did not renew the contract between KXJB and Directv and gave what 2 day notice. What an a$$hole. I hate him so much and why should they pay you the same your newscasts are identical. Same People Same News. We sent in a waiver after calling Directv and we are getting a CBS station from New York to fill in the spot the problem it could take 45 days though they say it should be sooner. But if i miss March Madness i am hunting you down Charley Johnson. You greedy bastard.

  3. After reading all the new posts from the last time i posted i think everyone needs a breather. Calm down Sioux fans we know that commish is an ass for shutting us out and basically crushing all hopes of keeping the nickname. But its 2010(nickname deadline) we don't start playoff eligilbility until 2012 that is now 3 years away. A lot can happen in that time, we most likely will be getting a new nickname i am actually fine with that. I a very die hard Sioux fan wearing a Sioux shirt as a type this would love to keep the name but its not going to happen. Lets change the name and move on that way teams cannot schedule us based just on a name they would have to come up with different excuses (ex. Minnesota, Wisconsin, NDSU).

  4. How come only Gene Taylor is speaking out on this what about the other teams in the Summit i would like to hear what SDSU has to say on this especailly scheduling UND in baseball next season. Also I think the name will be gone on or before 2010 there will be no tribal approval, so i think the Sioux should get another name then see if A. Minnesota lifts their ban on UND and if they would schedule the Sioux in the near future and B. if the Summit would want UND to apply for membership. Maybe NDSU will put a ban on UND for the name North Dakota and not for Fighting Sioux.

  5. This commissoner is a dumbass in general. Why would you come out in the middle of a season and tell your teams not to schedule UND and not to schedule a non-counter. Well UMKC did both and SDSU just got UND this season in baseball. So why wouldn't you say this before this was done. Then you got that p-ssy Gene Taylor scared to schedule UND because it may upset the league whatever you retard. I am so hateful on these 2 guys as much as i hate Myles Brand. I hope UND gets the nickname thing done approval or not if not change the name and get into a different conference than NDSU (hopefully the Big Sky)!!

  6. I'm sure it already is. This is evidence of just how difficult a task that is.

But with over 200 teams i wouldn't think it would be that difficult is it because of money or our location (not too many D1 teams around here).

  7. Are you only a LOYAL Sioux fan if you don't complain? And dlsiouxfan, is complaining about a bad scheduling decision really throwing a temper tantrum? And who are either of you to say what level of complaining is acceptable?

Wake up football fans. You should want passion from the fans. You should want people complaining. You should want people chiming in even though they don't know what they're talking about. You should want people criticizing the athletic director even if they couldn't do as good of job. This is par for the course amongst Sioux hockey fans and I hope that mentality starts creeping into the football program. It just means people care.

My point about this type of scheduling is that the average fan will lose interest. I'll still go to games. Hard-core fans will still go to games. But the average fan will lose interest in this program and stop going to games unless it can bring in semi-decent teams. And these things snowball. Do you honesetly think other coaches aren't going to bring up the fact that UND has an NAIA team on their schedule in 2011 to potential recruits? If you have to add a game like this, make it a 1-year only deal and get it over with. Don't let it linger on your future schedules list for two years. And yes, scheduling is very difficult in a 5-team conference for a team in transition, but that doesn't mean certain decisions can't be criticized.

To the point, we all know UND was desperate for a game in 2009. Let's assume UND could get no other DI team to come in 2009. Let's assume UND could get no other DII team to come in 2009, at least at a semi-affordable price. And let's assume Sioux Falls said they won't play UND in 2009 unless they get scheduled for 2011 as well. Then don't schedule them! Seriously, is there not another NAIA school out there that would have taken a one-year deal? Seriously?

Recruiting is the big thing who wants to go to a school who schedules D2 or NAIA teams or they can go to a school 70 miles south of Grand Forks and play against D1 teams like NDSU. Seems like they didn't have much problems getting D1 teams to play them during transistion especially late in their transistion years. 2009 fine play a NAIA or a d2 but after that make it a priority to play ONLY D1 teams. You think a FCS team will want you if you play Sioux Falls?? Whats next Bemidji or Minot?? I just hope in 2012 the Sioux get the required games to compete for a national title.

  8. There are 244 other teams in D1 and we are scheduling NAIA teams??? Get the phone book and call these teams and book them plain and simple and when you are done with the 244 teams and no one bites then look at the NAIA. :D

  9. Which doesn't make any sense to me because in reality UND would be a better option for the Summit league that SD base on our schools history and facilities. Also, the name is basically gone already so what the heck is the problem? Also why would they expand to 11 teams and not take on a 12?

This is why i would rather see the Sioux in the Big Sky or other conference and not in the Summit. What happens if the tribes accept the name then later chance their mind and we go through this again. Wouldn't the Summit kick us out.

  10. I looked on Yahoo, ESPN, and CBS Sportsline and there are no standings, a full schedule and as for yahoo UND isn't on there for both mens and womens basketball, only football... What gives?? Don't they recognize that we are in D1 in all sports i know they don't care about college hockey as there is very little coverage besides USCHO.com but i went to see the UND-Eastern Michigan womens game and there was a score but no stats or anything. Is the Sioux an Independant or something? Very confused here.

  11. Sure, you could use "Dakotans". Until someone claims ownership of THAT word.

But how about a picture (or pictures) of a random protestor as the logo? One day a priviliged, out-of-touch-with-reality professor. The next day it would rotate to being a picture of a person who found his Native American heritage late in life; someone who feels unfairly persecuted by others and and uses randomly targeted outrage against society as a boost to his own ego... the possibilites are there. Those people are definitely "fighting".
    :glare:

    Really, it could be anyone
    but
    your Board of Trustees.

As a Dakotan I claim ownership of that name but i do give UND permisson to use the word as a nickname provided i get some incentives...like season tickets to all Sioux sporting events.

  12. Hey, I was just happy to be able to see the Bison lose yet again on statewide TV and lose any chance of a playoff spot. Question: who has worse fans, the bison or vikings?

Its close, all i have heard down hear is Will you be there. Their motto they have yard signs everywhere that says that, my neighbor has one (I want a UND yard sign). And when i saw all those blue seats i was shocked. It was like um where the hell is everyone i thought maybe people were still piling in from outside but nope the dome holds over 19,000 and they said on tv attendance was around 17,000 so where were the 2000 or so people...hunting, raking leaves, or what? As for Vikings fans well their team is worse off than NDSU so its a toss up.

  13. Homecoming last year vs. Augie drew just over 12,100. I'm guessing at least 11,500 this year, and hopefully more.

Since there hasn't been a home game since Sept. 13th and a game at all since Sept 27th i think the drought is enough to bring the crowd together at the Alerus so i predict a sellout! Only 2 home games remain.
