I find that hard to believe, considering how much you RIP on the Sioux name... but either way. I like your response!  Its neutral. Go Sioux!!

I wear a Sioux jacket in winter, a Sioux hoodie at work and I have 2 Sioux jerseys I wear now and then, mixed in with Fighting Hawks gear. I’m not burning or getting rid of my Sioux gear. I even have a Sioux hat with the Blackhawk logo I got in the 80’s.

Im just putting this out there to give the Hawkzi's time to run screaming REEEEEEEEEEEEE for their safespace but.....

GRAND FORKS, N.D. – The University of North Dakota hockey program announced on Thursday that it will recognize its 1958-59 NCAA championship team, which won the first of the program's eight national titles, on a pair of occasions during the 2018-19 season.

North Dakota will wear 1958-59 replica jerseys during its Dec. 29 exhibition game against the United States Under-18 Team at Ralph Engelstad Arena. The jerseys will then be sold via online auction at FightingHawks.com with the proceeds benefiting the Sioux Scholarship Endowment, which provides scholarship assistance to Native American students.

Interesting to see how these play out as the Sammy Sioux arm patch isnt exactly "PC"...

Hawkzi? I am not anti-Sioux if the NCAA dropped the rule and UND was able to retain the Sioux name again I would be all for it. I still wear Sioux gear from time to time. This is a good thing for the university to do and for a good cause. Sorry Frozen4Sioux no arguments from me.

Because it's an either/or proposition, both are after the same thing. UND chose to continue and expand their longstanding partnership with Altru (significant local presence), who donated $10 million at the time (turf and HPC) instead of taking money from Sanford (minimal local presence). Taking money from Sanford would have required severing ties with Altru. Sanford isn't going to donate money with no strings attached. NDSU faced the same situation and chose to go with Sanford, severing ties with longstanding partner Essentia.

Why is it either/or with Altru and Sanford when it was both Hugo’s and Hornbachers sponsoring the Potato Bowl. Hornbachers is the official sponsor of UND athletics and Hugo’s is the sponsor of the “Potato Bowl”.

Leave the band where they are in 212, they are there every week and for the duration of the game obviously, so obviously that section is always full and the band are some of the best fans.  All of 210 and 211 should be reserved for students, and everything south of the band should be available to the general public.........

We have a band? I hear little of the band and more blasting music when the game is going on. Lose the speaker music and have more band music. I wonder if they get bored during the game.

Dont hate football, I attend football, have for over 30 years.

I hate the waste of money on trying to be something its not, and the little bother jealousy complex the football only fools have with being as much like Fargo as the can, and the perverted need to destroy the history in order to create a parrallel reality.

Football was fun, then it became a tale of keeping up to a world to which it didnt belong.

    Now give my damn #downvotedarrell...

You’ve attended UND football for the last 30 years? I bet you were a blast at games making fun of UND being in the FCS for the last 10 years.

Dude, get over it. You hate hockey. We get it. All the hate and rage in the world will never erase that image of those hockey players running a train on your gf back in the day, or whatever it is that triggered your chonicly obssesive jealous rage.

Get back into therapy and just stop driving by the REA and filling your life with jealous hate....

....with time, I promise it will all get better.

With his hatred of UND hockey and your hatred of UND athletics outside of hockey it’s like Jekyll and Hyde.

    It is the old NCC...

and thats fine...the stupidity lies in that its the same old thing at a 100x the cost.

For what?.....a few letters that if say fast tries to convince ourselves we are part of the big boys club???

All these schools would have been better off to keep to the small pond that fits them and be happy winning DII championships. In reality, I dont consider a D1 FCS any higher than D2... its like being B1 or B ... good great but...

Its not A...and these schools dont matter to the real A teams. Never will.

We get it you hate all non hockey sports (especially football) at UND, and you think the FCS is a joke, but saying we should’ve stayed in DII is stupid and shows your complete ignorance towards our athletic program outside of the hockey program.

Some of you are correct.....the reason for this team's  faults is a nickname!!!!...the ice hockey 'culture ' at UND is the only sport  that hasn't  embraced the new name/logo fully....stop referring to them as 'Siou-sies'....and good karma will follow.....I know it's hard for some to join the 21st Century...(and you're still hoping for a return of women's hockey.....poor babies)

People are plain idiots if they think losing is because of the nickname and logo. UND won 2 national titles when the Blackhawk logo was dropped, they won one national title after the Sioux name was dropped. So if the team wins it’s because of the Sioux name but if they lose it’s because of the Hawks name/logo. Too much Tide Pod eating going on.

  9. This team needs to get some high scoring games. They can’t play 1 or 2 goals and expect a win all the time. It’s like having a good pitcher but no offense. When was the last time a UND team scored only 2 goals on BSU for an entire weekend? Where’s the 5 or 6 goal games we used to see on a regular basis, just no fire power out there. People already calling for Berry’s head, something may be looked at if UND misses the playoffs for a second straight year.

  10. Nice to see over 500 yards of offense, and total domination on both sides. Ketteringham looks like a good passer, and with our trio of runners there is no reason we shouldn’t be able to run the table for the rest of the year.

The curse wasn't on the sweater.

Since the cursed bird has been displayed, mediocre have they played.

What Sioux logo was cursed for hockey? Blackhawk logo 3 titles, Geometric Sioux logo 2 titles, Ben Brien logo 0 titles. Maybe Ralph shouldn’t have put all those Brien logos in and around the building they could’ve won more titles between 2001-2012.  Maybe that logo is cursed, since the only building to see that logo win a National Title is the Alerus Center.

The "curse" is on the players not putting the puck in the net. We don't have pure scorers, yet. Can they develop with this current group? I think yes. Mash has been all over the ice and just can't finish. I think he will. Does the pipeline have scorers in it for the future? Looks like a yes, but they aren't on campus, yet.

Maybe the 3 goals on 50+ shots was a bad Oman to start the year.

Cool yes FCS has more fan total viewership... awesome... im happy for them.

That is an irrelevant fact. Means nothing. in the grand scheme of things it does not change either of...

1: There is never going to be a successful top tier of sport college football, basketball, volleyball, or any other team in Grand Forks.

It. Is. Not. Going. To. Happen.

let alone competing for a championship in that division.

2: There is not a higher tier non-professional tleague of hockey in the world than what we have in GF.

Be thankful for what we have.

So let’s drop all programs and just have hockey. Hell let’s drop down and be a Michigan Tech, Minnesota Duluth or better yet, let’s be an Alaska-Anchorage and drop football. Put all athletic funds into hockey, bring back the Sioux name cause sanctions will be pointless as we won’t see playoffs in other sports, all in the name of DI hockey. Is that what you wish for with your bashing of UND athletics?

I wouldn't say zero chance because UND needs to use the logo to keep it's TM licence current. Since it wont be used in a game (only during warm-ups) I could see them using something Sioux related especially with its biggest donors being in Vegas.

On the other hand, I understand why one would say there is no chance that UND uses it due to UND wanting to move away from the Sioux name all together.

They could shock everyone and have the words Fighting Hawks with the logo on it.
