I grew so close to my friends and a lot of my buddies were committed to college and two of my closest friends were going to North Dakota. North Dakota seemed to be perfect to me. It was close to home, the arena was unbelievable, and I got chills when I watched my first game there. I felt like it was my calling. It just felt right.

Almost had his knee taken out by Jim Slater. Slater got 2 min for kneeing. JT was able to finish the game. He had his helmet knocked off when he was run into the boards earlier in the game.

"I was telling the guys on the bench it felt like I blacked out and I couldn't even remember what happened on that play," Toews said. "That's what happens sometimes, you just go by instinct, and if you catch a few breaks, you're lucky enough to score. That's pretty much the only way I can sum it up, really."
