As someone who did undergrad and got my MBA at Minnesota (all who read my posts know there is no love for Maroon and Gold hockey however) while the map is accurate as far as physical campus is concerned, dinkytown and stadium village are definitely considered "campus" by locals. In fact, the map indicates areas as "non-campus" that include a number of sorrority and fraternity houses (up and down 10th). Marcy Holmes and southeast Minneapolis (just on the other side of 35W) is also almost entirely student housing. The map clearly shows property physcially owned by the U of MN.
Is campus definied as property owned by the University or as the area of town dominated by the University and its students?
I currently live in Dinkytown. Sororities and Fraternities are not owned by the University. Sorry for perpetuating the off topic convo.

I was under the impression that it was as well...
The areas in pink are considered campus.
-
these are the same gopher fans who burn there own campus down after THEY WIN the national championship!
The riot was not on campus. The main damage was in Dinkytown and Stadium Village which are not on campus, and most of the damage reported by the University to its actual property were parking facilities.

Pansies on Ice, I agree, also that Stu Bickel is a piece of work isn't he? I have been watching Peltier throwing punches at people for years and not once has he dropped the gloves. When the action gets to hot he goes and hides behind the ref.
Pansies...but when a forty something linesman pushes one of your players, it is unacceptable and the ref should be suspended. This sounds like a gopher fan complaining about Finley. You guys aren't so different from the citiots in Minneapolis.

OH NO! IT'S BIG JOE!!!!
-
>>We got one point last weekend!!! Hip Hip Hurray!!!
I don't see many goofy fans that are claiming a moral victory or taking solace in the one point...talk about spinning. Anyway, it is good to see some objective fans over here, they are lacking most other places on the net.
-
3 points taken from the twin-sh**ies!!! Let's look past the negative goofer chumps and spin doctors, and be proud of the boys for keeping up the unbeaten streak. Time to be positive! Denver... dead
This is getting spun by both sides.

Not being there, but it sounds like an assult.
Then I suppose the little tap I got coming out of the Ralph this season was too. You need to have thick skin and let things like that go. You always come out looking better than the person being an ass when you ignore them.

So why'd I have to bring it up?
I guess my glasses were extra tinted tonight.
-
So I assume you're as disapproving of a two-handed "bow tie" cross-check by Lucia on Zajac.
Yes.
-
he may have not, oh well...time for the super bowl, food and drinking
Good point.
-
my point is the gophs havent swept a thing this year but wayne state, keep those 1 point weekends up....
Good point.
-
I'm sure it happens more than you'd think...Hak just got caught. I couldn't care less about it...I think both sides mostly feel the same.

A ref grabbing a player by the facemask and pushing him into the box is ok with you?
Absolutely, what is he supposed to do, let him jump back into the scrum and go to the box on his own terms?
Flynn took at shot in the face from one of the linesmen when he was getting pulled off someone...big deal. I'll bet Malone never even thought anything about it.
-
What about Frattin not dropping the stick...what is he Tim "Dr. Hook" McCracken?
-
Guess I'll put it in this thread.
Looks like Malone tripped. Anyway, the linesman was trying to restrain him from jumping back in the scrum...Malone was struggling against him the whole time. I'm surprised there is an uproar about Oshie getting slammed against the boards by the linesman at the end of the game. I would be more worried about that, given he has a future career as opposed to most of the other players on the ice for both teams.
-
as they are, starting with the lil bich wheeler
You always talk about Gopher fans complaining when their players get hit/touched...but when the linesman breaks up a fight it is Oh my gosh, he roughed up Malone!
-
What's your point?
Malone is one hell of an athlete, I don't think the linesman is going to do much damage to him.
-
And you guys have been calling Gophers p***ys.
-
Stay classy
-
Woulda, shoulda, coulda...
Sioux 3 points Goofy 1 point
Absolutely...but I just don't understand why Gophers sweeping is so far fetched after this weekend. Especially when there where so many people predicting a 4-1, 5-2, etc routing before Saturday's game.
-
I'm going to pistol whip the next person on either side that says "class".
-
gophs sweeping halarious, im guessing they will get 1 point and du gets 3 for some odd reason
Didn't the Sioux come pretty close to getting swept by the Gophers this weekend...and vice versa?

My older son used to teach jujitsu before going back to school and my younger son is also an athlete who is built like a brick $hithouse. They are the two most laid back people I know. Every year at the Final Five, Goofy fans are constantly trying to pick fights with them because they are rabid Sioux fans. (And their mother, also a rabid Sioux fan, has a BIG mouth!) All I can say is Lord help the drunk Goof that finally succeeds!! Given the fact that a lot of my son's students were Mpls law enforcement, I don't think he's be spending much if any time in lock up.
Yeah, yeah, there are bad apples on both sides of the arena. I just believe more of them wear brown and yellow!!
Cops can't get you out of a civil suit...in this sue happy society anything can happen, even when people are provoked. Having a big mouth can get you in trouble...it is not a virtue, but this is only my opinion so I wouldn't put much stock in it.
How Malone was treated by the linesman ?

Stories regarding the origin of the name include
* The trollies, called Dinkys, that used to provide transit throughout the area.
* Similarly, the tenders at the nearby railyard were called Dinkys
* The theatre in Dinkytown had only four rows of seats, and for years was known as "The Dinky"
* It's a small town-like area, with everything within walking distance.
* A prominent building at the main intersection has the name of an early owner carved in stone over the doorway: "grodnik," meaning a small (or dinky) town.
