So for UND to become more successful in all avenues and (basically) become more financially stable they should kick McGarry and the Foundation to the curb ASAP. Then what would also help would be to scrub all physical reminders and artifacts of the Fighting Sioux history from UND, aka the Confederate history cleansing in this country, because that would make all our athletic teams more successful because they wouldn't be under the bondage of the lingering Fighting Sioux backdrop.......this would then increase attendance thus improving ticket revenue, concessions revenue and apparel revenue and UND's coffers will then be overflowing! Problems solved.

But yet she gave how much to UND from 2003 through today's date? Strong candidate? Depends on how her and Kennedy resolve this.

There's lots of potential truth in the first post. Ralph passed away in 2002........how many dollars has the Foundation given UND since he died?? "Going to do this anyway"? Would have thought if that was her mindset it would have happened sometime shortly after her father was gone.

This was a complete knee jerk reaction to expunge everything and all things related to the Sioux controversy within that period of time.

Can we put it before 3 committees and have a couple public votes on this????

I totally get the "retirement" of the Fighting Sioux name and logo. The "retirement" of the interlocking ND was just plain stupid IMO.

With what options UND has to work with as far as the logo and nickname this set up looks great IMO. Interlocking ND at center court would be the only possible upgrade.

Center court/center ice options in this order: 1) Interlocking ND 2) North Dakota (like Petey displayed) 3) Fighting Hawks 4) Logo

Pretty sure that's not how the conversation started on this topic.........nonetheless both instances in your post are pure fiction and unsubstantiated.

The interlocking ND IMO needs to still have a prominent role at UND. I know the Norte Dame argument but that's one school vs. the countless schools that have a hawks logo.

Once again there seems to be this thought process by many here that being a supporter and fan of UND, especially in regards to athletics, has to include the unconditional acceptance of the new nickname and logo. Some also try to tie the increase in "record" dollars given to the university to the new nickname and logo. Neither of these things have to be or are mutually inclusive. With all that said put the logo where ever it is best suited.

Pretty sure many supporters of the university as a whole would question if Kennedy has the university's "best interests" in mind? No argument on your 2nd point.

Just a random thought............................could all of this have been avoided it the university just went with "North Dakota" and no nickname? another thought...........................my father doesn't have a middle name. Has been a real detriment to him.

I grew up a "Sioux" guy. Not a fan of the "Hawk's" name or logo but this is getting very petty.

Hopefully they put the logo at center ice soon. That will at least stop the fans at the Ralph from yelling "Sioux" at the end of the anthem!

I recall most of the complaining being, as Petey put it, that UND "got taken" for the quality of product it received in relation to the cost paid out to get it. Most (on this site) didn't see this logo as a sufficient ROI.
