  1. im guessing no on fs.com as i would think we would have heard about it by now. i think uw has a webcast, ill take a look

    uw video info

you can see on the right under vs north dakota but its grey there is a link for webstream and audio so maybe those pop up closer to game time to purchase the game. i have no clue on this as ive neevr needed to get a sioux/uw game online before

Looks like the web cast is available.!!!!!

  2. I know the word "Cheap" has been used, but could someone give me a run down of what transpired at the end of the game that has us talking of fights? It apparently includes Fienhage and Davidson (and some Harvard players), but that's all I know.

And yeah, I'm too lazy to scroll back in the thread and search for it.

    Thanks for your indulgence.

Harvard was chasing the Sioux all night. The Crimson started the third by out playing the Sioux with no results and I think this frustrated them more. But what I really believe set things in motion was the 10th goal. When Zach Jones scored the Sioux bench erupted in cheers. UND was cheering for Zach scoring his first goal. I think Harvard interpreted the cheering as taunting; not understanding what was going on, and 20 seconds later the fight broke out. After the fight there were hits by Harvard that seemed to have the statement of trying to hurt someone, including the boarding call late in the third. I thought it was very close to hitting from behind. Harvard was embarrassed last night and I am sure they will be a different team tonight.

You check out some pictures from last night on my blog including two of the fight.

  3. I to believe the Sioux can beat BU as well but to say we'll beat them because they have notorius slow starts doesn't make any sense because they could say the same about us incase you haven't seen our starts the last 4 years.

Well I guess it would depend on your definition of a slow start. For example last year for the first five games BU went 0-4-1 the Sioux went 3-1-1. I guess I would rather have a Sioux slow start vs. a BU slow start.

  4. I'm going to politely disagree. I could be wrong, but I haven't seen BU, so I'm not in a position to judge. I know their team is solid, but I think ours is pretty solid too. I think the BU game will be close, but I think we can pull it out if we play like we're capable of...even though its early in the season.

I believe the Sioux can beat BU. First BU is notorious for a slow start to the season. In addition with the departure of MacArthur and Ewing they will need to make up 88 points not to mention, they both were significant goal scorers on BU

  5. If you register for the all access channel and purchase a month subscription the games will be archived for you to access. Don't forget to cancel the subscription after the month though, because it works on autobill. BU will also create a highlight video the day after the game and those are free.

And yes, there is no fog in Agganis Arena. We can have some shipped down from Newton if you like that sort of thing.

Oh and for those coming out east who have been to Boston before, I heard that T's Pub (right near the arena) is closed and/or changing hands, so gotta find somewhere else to drink.

Actually Agganis is a great venue. It opened in 2005 and like the opening of the Ralph; BU

  6. Below is a copy of a post I made last year on the Ralph.

I love the Sioux but I will have to say I have been very disappointed with the atmosphere in the REA. Because I live in Boston, I follow Hockey East as a season ticket holder to BU. I go to every BU game dressed in SIOUX. Each year I make a pilgrimage to the REA to watch the Sioux play and I have to say each year I get more disappointed. The atmosphere in the Ralph can be at times like be like watching a Chess match with tons of commercials.

When I compare the two, the crowd at the Agganis is twice as loud ( it

  7. I would like to caution anyone thinking about coming out to the Icebreaker that it might coincide with Parents Weekend at BU so be sure to secure hotel accommodations early because when any local college has such a weekend prices are high and rooms are scarce.

Lets not forget it may be conflicting with the RED SOX playoff schedule........ :silly:

  8. Um right, I don't know any of the following people as Sioux hockey players:

    Joe Finely

    Taylor Chorine

    Andrew Kopek

Can anyone help me figure out who they are and how they ended up in the Sioux section of that article?! (I don't get how they managed to spell Phil's name right though, because I can't do that yet lol)

Actually, after looking at the whole article, they spell A LOT of names wrong. Maybe they should do some research before writing anything about hockey, it makes them look like morons....:D

    Check out BU.... the player

  9. I am proud of the Team. It is hard to take reading some of the negative comments. I'm staying at the same hotel as the Team and it was heart breaking to see the team leaving to go back to Grand Forks after the game.

I had a chance to talk with Coach Eades this morning and he was very thankful for the support the team has been receiving from the fans in Denver.

Win or lose I will support this team and cheer them on! That is what being a fan is all about. I live in Boston and will be flying home tomorrow with the BC fans and I will be proudly wearing my SIOUX jersey.

Like I said to Coach Eades I am already looking forward to the SIOUX attending the "ICE Breaker" in Boston next season.

    GO SIOUX!!!!!!

  10. The following was an article in today's Boston Globe. The two Sioux fans were Sioux Fan in Boston and me. The BC Fans were great with some banter going between us. It was funny!!!! :D

    Go Sioux!!!!!!

The Boston Globe April 10, 2008

    Charter club

North Dakota fans work extra hard to support their team. A chartered airplane will bring fans here this morning.

For those who can't get to Colorado, the Sioux are hosting what they call the world's largest viewing party at Ralph Engelstad Arena in Grand Forks, N.D.

In conjunction with the 2008 World Curling Championships, currently going on at the rink, North Dakota will offer music, food, beverages, and large video screens in the 30,000-square-foot Broken Broom lounge in the REA Olympic Arena.

After acknowledging the fervor of UND fans, head coach Dave Hakstol said, "There's only one place I'd rather be - here."

More evidence: On an early morning flight from Boston to Denver yesterday, lots of travelers were BC fans headed to the Frozen Four, decked out in BC hats and sweat shirts. But two North Dakota fans found their way onto the plane and no one could miss them; they were already wearing the bright green Sioux game jerseys.

    Growth experience

The Sioux have embraced a twist on the traditional "playoff beard" grown by many athletes in the postseason for luck. The North Dakota players have chosen to go with moustaches, giving them something of an '80s look.

"We've gone with the beards the last few years and it hasn't quite got us over the hump," said Taylor Chorney, whose Sioux have lost to Boston College in the semifinals for two consecutive years, "so this year we decided to try something new and go with the moustaches."

Apparently some fathers, who wore those moustaches in the '80s in earnest, have joined in. "My coach, Cary Eades, he rocks the moustache," Chorney said. "My dad, too." Marc Chorney was a defenseman for North Dakota's 1980 national champions.

"Some of us aren't as fortunate to be able to contribute to this," said goalie Jean-Philippe Lamoureux, whose moustache is a wispy thing. "It's something fun, it kind of brings the guys together. Keeps everyone loose."

"It's pretty nonexistent," T.J. Oshie said of his moustache.

"And that's three weeks' growth," Chorney cracked.

  11. Went to the game last night and here's my thoughts (a little late):

    1. Passing - Yeah, might need to work on that a bit.

    2. Turnovers - Probably was because our passing stunk all night last night.

    3. The Watkins goal was a thing of beauty.

    4. We had two ties this weekend, but if I were SCSU, I'd take that as a sweep. If I were UND, I would take it as being swept. SCSU is good and all, but we missed so many chances it isn't even funny.

    5. Our D as a whole had an up and down game. Overall, they played well defensively.

    6. It was nice meeting Sioux-cia, Siouxmama, and Morley. It was not nice missing Goon, Sioux7, and LFSPro.

Not much to be happy about this weekend. We played well enough to survive but this type of stuff won't help us in the playoffs.

And Siouxfan/bufan- BU has won 9 of 10. UND has won 14, lost none, and tied the rest out of the last 16 (or 17) games. BU hasn't faced a team like UND yet this year. Though it is true that BU could possibly beat us, any team could beat any team in the NCAAs. I just don't see it happening...unless we continue to play like we did against SCSU.

Redwing 77 - I totally agree with you. It was noted by Stromer that BU may not be that good. My point is don

  12. I like the bracket that has us playing Bu with Miami and Mankato in as well. I don't think BU is that good. Obviously we need to play better or we won't beat anyone but that would be a sweet bracket.

As a Sioux fan living in Boston, I follow BU, and be careful for what we wish for, BU is one of the hottest teams in the country. Since the Beanpot they have won 9 out of 10 games and are playing their best hockey of the season. This is a team that is fifth in the nation in scoring and had a pathetic defense the first half of the season. Parker changed the way the defense plays and now they are limiting shots on net and they are getting great goaltending. They won the final series of the year with Providence and shut them out both games. This team is on a mission since not making it to the Beanpot finals in 13 years
