  1. I'm not going to have time to create the list for the first round or those who move on, so everyone who advances to the 2nd round for tomorrow, go ahead and post your picks. I will update the lists on Sunday night.

With work, and taking half the day off tomorrow to go to the games, then work again Sunday, I just haven't had the time to get the lists caught up...I'll do what I can here tonight if I get a chance, but 5a comes awfully quick!!

GOOD LUCK EVERYONE!! and GO SIOUX!!!

    Gregoire

    For Saturday

  2. I couldn't find the Sioux vs. Ohio State game on the channel listings for any of the Fox Sports channels. I thought they had all of the home games on television, but I couldn't find this one. Does anybody know if this is the case? Saturdays game is listed but are we going to have to webcast Fridays?

When i was watching the Sioux/Denver game last week, they advertised that both games will be seen on FCS this weekend. Just keep checking.

  3. gfbugman - you may be able to help me out here. I'm new to the Detroit area so I don't know a whole lot about downtown. I was down at Ford Field yesterday to buy some football tickets, and had no idea where to park! There didn't seem to be any large open lots anywhere. Where do the people that go to the football games (and the Frozen Four) park? Do they take shuttles from other places downtown? I know there is some parking on the other side of Comerica...

There is parking around Comerica park and alot of pay to park lots. There is plenty of parking for events, they get 30,000 people everynight for a tigers game and 50 to 60K for Lions games.

  4. Anyone have a size large nike they would like to sell? new or used but if it's used, I don't want it to look used. I would like to get Toews stitched on the back and therefore am looking for the version he wore. Tried everywhere else, please pm me if you have something. Thanks.

I have bought the k1 dazzle and the nike green. k1 is size large and nike green is xl. both brand new with tags if your looking for a trade instead of just selling yours. I didn't realize the k1 was the one he didn't wear and the xl nike is too big, therefore that's why I'm looking for a large, prefer white but at this point doesn't matter

I have a Large Replica Nike Black swift jersey. It is used but in mint condition. I bought it for $120 but will sell it to you for $100. PM Me if interested.

  5. No doubt.Having it there is just plain stupid. From what I have read from a few different sites tickets sales are really slow for this compared to frozen fours in the past and I'm sure having it at Ford Field has everything to do with it.Having it in Detriot doesn't help either.

They have sold over 22,000 tickets according to the Detroit Free Press. The new seat configuration will allow for about 36,000. I agree with the new seat configuration, hoping to sell 64,000 seats for college hockey is pushing it. Besides I am sure the NC$$ already considers the event a success since the previous record for a Frozen 4 game was a little over 19,000. I am pretty sure that they will be able to sell the remaining 14,000 tickets by the time April 8th rolls around. I purchased tickets to this event but unfortunately duty calls and I will be spending a nice 6 month vacation in the Middle East somewhere so I hope that if our Fighting Sioux are fortunate enough to make it to another Frozen 4 that you will try to attend despite your feeling about where it should and should not be. I can promise you this, Ford field will be a much more pleasant and clean and overall better venue than Joe Louis Arena would be. Joe Louis is a dump. I am from Detroit and believe me I have heard every bash you guys can dish out. The fact is though that the city of Detroit will make this a decent Frozen 4, like they have done with the Final 4, the Super bowl the World Series and the Stanley Cup Finals recently. Despite the economic troubles in Michigan, the area around Ford Field and Comerica Park has really cleaned up nice.

  6. I am deploying overseas in december and will not be able to use the Frozen 4 tickets that i already bought. I have 2 seats for all the games + the skills competition and Hobey Baker Award announcement. I will sell for $100 take all or willing to trade for tickets to the Friday gopher game or either night of the St. Cloud series or the Saturday game of the Wisconsin series. Inquire to bigorange20@gra.midco.net or just pm me here. Thanks

  7. This potential Penguins/Red Wings rematch seems very similar to the Oilers/Islanders rematch back in 1984. I could be wrong, but I'm starting to feel like maybe the Penguins are a team of destiny.

    Your wrong

  8. Excuse me?

I think the one thing that the Wild have good is goaltending! Backstrom is one of the top goaltenders in the NHL. Why? Oh, he's not as dynamic as Brodeur or flashy as, say, Ryan Miller, but he's one of the most consistent goaltenders that is constantly tops in positioning.

He's heads and shoulders, knees and toes better than ANY other player on the Wild... Koivu is second, but there's a big gap.

I have never been a fan of the Wild. I've never liked teams whose GMs consistently go around with their heads in the sand when it comes to fixing problems that could solve the problem and take the team to the next level. I have no problem with DR's desire to build a team from within, through the draft and a few undrafted free agents here and there. However, that's a perpetual long-term approach. It's like always looking to tomorrow rather than figuring out how to win today. Signing a guy like Modano back in 2004-5 might not have solved the problem in the long term, but it certainly would have taken the Wild to the next level while the long term solution develops in the minors or juniors or overseas.

They aren't the only hockey team or sports team in general that does this. I tend to dislike all of the teams that do fit this mold.

A team shouldn't perpetually look to the future and ignore the present. That tells me that the team really isn't interested in winning this year...or maybe not next year. They'll be interested in winning _eventually_. Tell me, if you are a salesperson, are you going to be in sales very long if you are always looking to eventually making sales?

The best salespeople go out every day to make sales NOW and develop relationships to facilitate future sales. That's how it should work. You sign the free agents you need to compete this season and draft their replacements asap. Or, if you are missing an element, you go out and get it. Goalscorers in MJ may not show that tendency in the NHL (see Alexandre Daigle or even Stephane Veillieux scored 115 points one year in juniors). James Shepperd was a scorer in MJ and, though he's only played 160 games in the NHL, he's not scoring either.

Looking over the list of players the Wild have had, though, overall, not many forwards were huge scorers. This tells me that DR's draft strategy wasn't as effective as his system would require it to be. His free agent signings were almost as disastrous. He's also not very aggressive when he needs to be on trades.

Well, now the Wild start over. Hopefully things will be better for the Wild. They'll start drafting properly and go out and sign quality free agents. They'll get good players via trade.

Why the tangent about the Wild? I never brought up the Wilds goaltending 1 time in that post. I was simply saying to be happy you are a Red Wings fan and not a Wild fan. I think you totally misunderstood what i was trying to say. I don't think we needed a breakdown of the Minnesota Wild organization and what they are doing wrong.

  9. True, but all 3 times Osgood did, he has never had seasons as poor as this.

Last year he pretty much carried the team on his back all the way to the cup, and this year he gave up 2 goals in 3 games and they swept. Sure he had a bad game 4 but everyone has a bad game every once in a while. How fun is it to root for a team that can give up 5 goals and still win. You should relax on osgood, he is probably one of the best goalies we have ever had and he does have three rings, and if Conklin needs to get into a game, i feel good about having him as a backup. Be happy you are not a Wild fan!!! :D

  10. Really, it would be a legitimate concern. Funny you ask but the NCAA awarded D.C. the Frozen Four and then the NCAA did a site visit because were concerned about ice concerns ex-post facto. So yeah it would be a concern that they will have to address, being a big venue they are also going to have to monitor the ice conditions. They these issues when the NCAA had a tourney in Cincinnati as well.

Out of our control, i can't really see any reason to argue about it, Maybe the ice will be bad, maybe it won't, i really don't care, i will still be there, if possible bad ice conditions will keep you away, then so be it.

  11. Have they ever played hockey on/in Ford field?

I don't know, probably not. What are you basing your OPINION on? They have not played there so how can you say the ice will be bad? All i am saying is that they must have some type of proof or facts that say that they will be able to play there and the ice will be fine, otherwise why would the NCAA award Detroit and Ford Field the FF.

  12. I can't imagine the ice being that good April in Detroit 40-50,000 people in a footbal stadium. Mabye if UND goes but ugh. Also, I can't figure out why Ford Field is the host for both the NCAA Division 1 basketball and Hockey tourney's back to back. I am going to apply for Frozen Four tickets when they get to the Xcel Energy Center not a bad seat in the house.

The ice will be fine, if they could not handle it they would not be hosting.

  13. I'm going to wait to buy mine until I am in Detroit.

I bet you'll find some mega deals from scalpers for seats up in the boonies, and then move down closer into empty seats.

    ???

$40 a seat for all games is probably about as low as you will find, but maybe you will get lucky

  14. If anyone wants to purchase 2010 Frozen 4 tickets, They are having a presale right now on ticketmaster. The Password is FFVIP, for $40 you get 1 ticket to both sessions and if you buy tickets during presale you get a free ticket to the skills competition and Hobey Announcement. Pretty cheap FF if you ask me. 2 seats for both Thursday and saturday and 2 tickets to the festivities on Friday for under $100. Not to bad. The presale ends on the 17th then tickets on sale to the public on the 18th. My seats are in the upper level, but i am sure i will be able to move down to ice level.
