After watching a replay of the Cal Poly vs S Dak St game, I feel 100% confident saying Protheroe would have made no difference against UND. He doesn't do anything special, he's just a symptom of the Cal Poly offense. Jacks were destroyed by the pitch (mostly Garcia) and their D line got worked.

Santiago would've had a much larger impact on this game than Protheroe.

Protheroe is a difference maker, but him playing against UND could of actually been bad for Cal Poly. UND knows how to defend the option and I think would have given up a few more yards rushing if Protheroe had played.  Instead of 200 they might have given up 250.  If that had happened the coaches probably waited to throw even longer which would not have been a good thing for Cal Poly. The only way Cal Poly moved the ball consistently on UND was through the air. The Fullback dive was not going to beat UND. Dano Graves throwing more might of.

That would be 8 am ct.

Hey, at least I got the 2 hour difference right. My point is the are early birds so an early start should not throw them too much. I am more concerned with UND's D and your two stud RBs.

Good. Almost wish it was at noon though. Get that west coast team to come out flat and tired.

Cal Poly practices at 6:00 am California time (4:00 am ND time) so a 11:00 am California start time should not be to tough on them.

  4. I'm curious about your defense. The numbers were not good but the talent seemed to be. Poly had by far the fastest defense we faced all year.

I think we have the talent on defense, but I think we need a new DC.  We played a bend (keep everything in front of us) and try not to break defense.  Very simple and predictable.

  5. SUU and PSU are paper tiger rushing defenses. We have the only real one in the league. You will not rush for over 250, Ratelle and Reyes and the boys aren't gonna let that happen. This should be a great game but I think your defense is going to be the difference.

If UND holds Cal Poly to under 250 yards rushing they will leave SLO with the win.  I think both teams will get yards rushing.  What may decide this game is which team has more yards passing.

  6. Fighting Hawks   35 (Santiago 200+ yards)

Ponys                 21 Defense hold Ponys under 150 yards rushing.

I think this will be a hard fought slobber knocker that could either way so I won't try to predict the score.  I will predict UND's defense will give up at least double their season average for rushing yards (95 yards per game).  Possibly triple or more.  Prior to playing Cal Poly, Southern Utah was near the top of the Big Sky in rushing defense (128 yards a game).  They gave up 508 yards rushing to Cal Poly.  Prior to playing Cal Poly, Portland State's defense was holding opponents to 126 yards rushing a game.  They gave up 420 rushing yards to Cal Poly.  Cal Poly can rush the ball better than ANY team in the FCS.  Should be fun to watch.  Strength against strength.

  7. Weber is giving the game away

Cal Poly was without Umoh, Deonte Williams (ankle - only 6 carries), and Stanford was nursing a tight hamstring. Good teams make their own breaks.
  8. It is a shame hat this game is not on Root Sports. I think it will be one of the best Big Sky games next weekend. A lot better than UM/UNC game that they are showing.
